that's one of the differences between anime/manga and LA luffy. while in the live action luffy is more soft-spoken and supportive when it comes to encouraging others, anime/manga luffy is more like the shia labeouf meme "just do it!". blunt, direct, kinda rude but it's done with the intent to help people learn to not care what others say about them, himself included, and just follow their own path.

To answer your question about Mardon, no, he can't regenerate. Barry can do that because his super speed accelerates his body's natural ability to heal itself. Mardon doesn't have super speed, so he won't be coming back from those gunshots.

One thing you'll learn as you watch is that live action Luffy is immensely toned down. An animated / drawn character can get away with being an adorable rude asshole in ways that for a real person would be incredibly jarring and offputting. As such, Luffy in the live action is a lot more socially well-adjusted, paying attention and generally more outwardly thoughtful. The original Luffy is all of those things to some degree.. but he's an idiot that lives in the moment first and foremost. However, another thing you'll find out very quickly is that live action Luffy is immensely toned down... wait, I already said that. But this time, I am referring to how he he manages to carry himself as the lead character of the story. The live action struggles with the need to be economical about CGI use in regards to his rubbery body and stretchy limbs. You can sort of treat Luffy like a kid with ADHD who uses his devil fruit all the time in the most trivial of ways just for the fun of it. I won't spoil it with actual examples since you'll become more acquainted as time goes by, but it provides a degree of liveliness and personality that the live action has no quite figured out a way to translate. Most notably, his casual confidence in everything he does and the way in which he just exceeds the common sense standard of a random kid with a strawhat is an undeniable part that makes it believable why Zoro joins him. Everyone on his crew believes Luffy has what it takes to be their captain, and we as an audience feel the same... but with live action Luffy it takes a lot more effort to convince us that he is the lead rather than Zoro, Sanji or even Nami.

I really like your commentary, but I gotta say it’s a little anticlimactic and honestly kinda awkward how, as soon as the episode in question is done, you just cut it off, say your outro and leave. I understand that you have a discussion at the beginning of the videos, not the end. But for say, something like this where it’s a Finale to a show, you don’t leave the audience with any ending thoughts on the show overall, your experience, how you enjoyed it, etc. Just, “Oh, okay, the show’s over, bye…” then that’s the end of it. At the very least for the Final Episode of a series or season of a show, it’d be good to give a few closing thoughts on that particular arc. Just a thought.

I know you're a few episodes ahead and might not remeber these reactions. But those initial scenes with Nami that look different to the live action, are exclusive to the anime and didn't appear in the original manga. You're gonna notice the discrepancy especially during Sanji's backstory, since the Live Action did it like the original manga, and much later on around the 700+ episode there's a lot of stupid additions here and there to extend the runtime (for example one time a character gets cut for like 2 minutes straight by a lot of fodder enemies, the character screams in pain, and they make cutting sounds and alude to gaping wounds... but since the enemies didn't hurt them like that in the original manga, at the end of the onslaught the character only has a few bruises)

It's funny that you ask about Garp's strength when up to date anime watchers just got a glimpse of it, and only manga readers know what kind of training he does.

The blue haired girl shows pretty early that sexism exists in the One Piece world as well. I like that author aknowledges sexism and early on (as well as other forms of systematical discrimination), despite me not thinking the adaptation did a good job at translating the scene to live action. In the manga/anime those "facts" were learnt from her father actually, who didn't want her to be the future owner of the place despite being the best by far. I'm not even half way through the manga but I do wonder what the mangaka will do regarding that aspect of worldbuilding across the story. I personaly haven't read many japanese stories that handle the theme well or even care about that reality to begin with - and oh boy how loud and loved are some sexist japanese media

Just adding that the deeper you get into this, the less context you are going to have without a lot of the other shows. Part of this episode's storyline continues in the next episode of Arrow as they would air in the same week so you would get part of a story one day and the rest on another day and as the universe grows, you are going to have 1 part of a 5 part event just watching The Flash and those events are some of the best things to come out of all of this. And this show is a continuation of Arrow, they spent half a season getting to know Barry and visa versa because this series started. Arrow had 2 seasons already and Barry, Cisco, and Caitlin were introduced in Season 2 of Arrow and then they announced he was getting his own show so while Season 3 of Arrow was going on The Flash just started Season 1 and then they would run back to back for the next few years until the end of Arrow so a lot of things are planted in both shows for people watching both in the same week. While they don't always have a main impact of their own respective storylines each season, there are some exceptions where those events have major impacts. For the event stuff, if you aren't going to watch any of the other shows, you will need to at least hunt down their episodes of the events to see the whole story.
