How APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) works
Pratt & Whitney’s APS3200 is the Airbus baseline APU of choice for the Airbus A320 family of aircraft. It is designed to meet performance and environmental requirements for modern day, single-aisle aircraft. The APU comprises a single-shaft, fixed-speed, high-pressure ratio core driving a load compressor that provides bleed air for cabin conditioning and main engine starting, concurrent with 90kVA of electrical power. The APU is also certified for a 180-minute Extended range Twin Operations (ETOPs) operation.

Hard to say, it can cause it but, this system has several fail-safe functions. Let's wait for an official information

No not really, APU without bleed most of the time APU runs on 99% for fuel saving 😁 with bleed 100% and that 536hp is more than enough for everything

I'm a bit confused about the AC part of the electrical system. The turbines spin very fast, but wile changing power their speed also changes which should change the frequency of the AC. Am I missing something or how is that combated?
Depending on the aircraft on ATR you have DC generator and AC wild which means variable frequency on A320 IDG produces constatnt 115v 400hz thanks to gearbox inside
@@zeto.r So I'm guessing in this aircraft AC for whatever doesn't care about frequency not being constant, and DC for cases where it would be a problem. Thanks.
I work as Tower ATC I an tell you that when ATR is parked on the aipron it's much louder when runing one engine than other jets runing APU. So usually then run GPU instead.

How does this not overheat the power turbine? I would imagine if prop is stopped so are they...
It is made strong enough to survive ground idle and a bit above but if you apply more power it can melt, that's why you have gust lock.

For me, it was a long time ago when I worked on them but they are cool aircrafts

As a fueler we never access the fueling panel and connection until the engine is completed shut off. Just thought of something thought, can u start the engine in hotelmode?
I can understand that you don't want to have a fuel hose under the running engine. Yes you can, The propeller brake can be on during any ground operation.
Is this task also done by B2 Avionics Engineer? Or only B1?

Back when working around these things, the engine on hotel was treated with similar danger areas than normally running one. Use of rear service door was prohibited when it was running on hotel, as you'd be within engine's rear danger area, though due to exceptional circumstances I've ended up doing that, twice if I remember. One little 'detail' is where that ground air connection goes: it is right next to the RH propeller. In principle, you should not ever need to use hotel when ground air is connected, but I am aware of a case or two of danger & damage. The order was to have the engine completely shut down (=not in hotel) if it was running for whatever reason, before getting there to (dis-)connect ground air. The GPU, on the other hand, can be safely connected with the prop turning. In overall, the hotel mode was not used that much at all, mainly only during summers if the cabin was hot. It is a bit dangerous for the very reason it appears safe to approach the propeller.

Propeller, feather configuration, geometric pitch, fixed and variabile pitch , the problems about aerodynamic tip stall , structural strenght, one of the best modules for a B1 technician. N M17 which Is also bonded to M14 and M15, propulsion and gas turbine engine. The turnoprop uses turbocompressor for the air conditioning system, very interesting and Amazing topic

Could that brake lever being used in-flight have something to do with the recent crash in India?
You can use it only in a certain condition. I guess it is impossible to activate it in the air
its not actually in india its in nepal instead of flap lever the fo put the condition lever to ftr thts why
