Do you love aquascaping and planted tanks?
You and me both!
Here you can follow my aquascaping adventure and watch how my aquariums evolve (or fail) from the day they are set up until they are rescaped.
My main interest is aquascaping, but I'll probably throw in some other things here and there, like paludariums, terrariums, and wabi-kusa...
Enjoy your visit, and hopefully you'll subscribe and join me on the journey. Let us all learn from each other and work together to further improve our tanks!

Terra Base Setup for Mini Orchid
The DOOA Terra Base is an innovative look for your Wabi-Kusa. Crafted from clay it opens up the possibility of bringing a striking piece of rainforest into your living room and keeping small orchids, ferns, and mosses that otherwise grow on rainforest tree trunks in a state that comes close to their natural habitat. The plants are supplied by filling the Terra Base with water, which seeps through the pottery's pores and provides a cooling effect during the warm summer days through evaporation. ____________________________________________________________________

Agreed 💯
Are these too small to eat shrimp fry?
I'm sure tiny shrimp fry is not 100% safe from them, but if you have some cover for them (rocks, wood, plants), they'll be fine.
@HobbyScapesHQ good to know, thank you! I have an abundance of stem plants and small hiding spots!
Why betta didn't attack the cherry barb?
Female Betas are less aggressive than the males, and even with males, sometimes you can pull off a community tank... usually, they're more aggressive towards their own species
Do you have betta on an nano tank with ember tetra? How come betta are not aggressive?
Those are cherry Barbs, and she is a very chill lady 😅... she thinks she's one of them
@@HobbyScapesHQthat's funny lol😂
😁
What’s the name of the clover-like plant, and is it suitable for a low-tech setup?
I'm not sure which plant you are asking about exactly
But you can find the setup of this tank in my long videos with plant names. All of them are easy plants that would do well in low-tech aquariums .
Can i use food grade h2o2? It contains 3% h2o2
I never used food grade h2o2, but it should have the same properties (minus some stabilisers), so I don't see why it wouldn't work. If you decide to give it a go, please let me know the results ...
Dosing ratios and peroxide strength ? 3% ?
I'm using 6% H2O2 and doing 1,75ml/10 litres of water
So, the fish must be removed first, right?
No, that would be just unnecessary stress for them. It's safe to use with fish if you're careful not to go over the recommended dose
That was well more than 1.75ml per 10 litres
Nope. That's exactly 1.75ml/10 litres. Why do you think it's more?
@@HobbyScapesHQ it looked less but I've just watched it again and I got it wrong maths wasn't my strongest subject unless it was sports scores 👍👍
You're good, no worries 😅
Someone said they need blackwater, is this true or i can keep them in normal water.
They do best in soft, acidic water with ph bellow 7... if you have that, you'll be fine even if it's not a blackwater tank
@@HobbyScapesHQ no my water's around 7.5, how to bring it down?but I'll also be keeping shrimps will that be ok
You can use botanicals and wood to bring down ph, those will release tannins so you'll be on your way to a blackwater tank 🙂. I have shrimps with my chillis and they get along fine
Looks awesome. What kind of glue are you using?
I'm using liquid superglue and cotton pads for hardscape and superglue gel to attach plants.
And thank you 🙂
Hey I’m interested in badis fish, can I put one in a 5 gal? I have a tank I’m setting up and I’d like to keep it alone (I don’t want any baby’s) would that be okay?
If you only want to keep 1, he should be fine. A bit bigger would be preferable, but if you already have the tank, go for it. Make sure you'll have plenty of plants in it.
🤣
🤫😅
I don't get how it works 😂 wtf
Enya makes everything better 💙💙
I fully agree 👌
@@HobbyScapesHQ Beautiful video through and through. Thanks!!
Thank you! Appreciate it
Licorice gourami??? Or blue line
It's a female Betta 🙂
😂 they look so alike
@eshantrathod3365 Yep 😁
I have Pygmy Cories and Otocinclus in my 10 gallon tank. I was thinking about getting a Scarlet Badis for the centerpiece fish. Is your Scarlet Badis getting along well with the cories and otocats?
So far, no issues at all... I would even say my Badis is are little shy
@@HobbyScapesHQ Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate that. 🐟
No problem at all. Good luck, and let me know how it goes
Looks so nice
Thank you 🙂
Bagus sekali hasilnya kawan
Thank you very much! There is room for improvement, but I'm happy with how it turned out
Yup within 3 sec i give a like becoz ur all scapes are amazing😊
Thank you very much! Really appreciate it 🙂
Put some old plastic bangles on the water, they float. Take the duckweed off inside the bangle. They won't grow inside the bangle.
Pake co2 bang
I do 👌
It's good you took the time to add it with livestock, terrestrial plants can have all kinds of chemicals sprayed onto them that'll negatively impact aquatic life.
I'm trying to avoid sudden changes that can affect water chemistry as much as possible
❤
❤❤❤❤❤
Huge impact in such a small tank. I love this scape.
Thank you very much! Appreciate it
Amazing
Thank you!
What floating plants are those im looking for some
That is duckweed... be careful what you wish for 😅. I would look for red root floaters or water lettuce instead...
❤❤❤❤
So you leave livestock in the tank the whole time? I’ve seen videos where they take out fish and some plants, but I was concerned that would cause more stress to them.
I leave everything in the tank and do smaller areas at a time... I agree with you, It would be probably more stressful for the fish to move them out of the tank
All of my tanks are backlit. I almost feel like it's not a tank without it.
I agree with you. They do look great . I feel like the "brand" ones are way too overpriced... so, for the moment, DIY is the way for me... not gonna compete with those, but will do the trick for me
Do you use co2 in your tank?
I don't have CO2 in this one
wow how do you keep the plants growing mine is always dying😢
I'm using aquasoil, my tap water is very soft, and I'm keeping up with the water changes (most of the time). I'm convinced my tap water plays the biggest part in it
@@HobbyScapesHQ im using aquasoil too but still not succeeding, how often do you change water and what percentage 🙏🏻
@cjaymarriott I'm trying to be consistent with once a week, but sometimes it is 2 weeks... I'm changing around 30%
Which type of Buce is this?
I'm pretty sure it's Kedagang
Will be waiting to see moss coming around woods😊
It will get there, slowly. I hope 😅
We can use h2o2 while shrimp in the tank?
I did without issues. Just double-check the dosage before going ahead
awesome way to depict and express 😊
Thank you very much 😊
what was that plant u first added anubias?
It's Cryptocoryne Purpurea
beautiful <3
Thank you!
Did you use a matte black or glossey black for the background?
It's matte black.
😮😮😮 lindo
Thank you 🙂
So now all the algae is gone what are those octo's gonna eat?
I feed the otos algae wafers even when there's algae in the tank. When there's no visible algae, I do it more often.
Black for the win.
110%
White.
I just felt like white made a small tank look even smaller. White makes it look brighter, but black makes it look deeper. At least, in my opinion
Wow what light you using
It's a Week Aqua M450 D1PRO
Do you ever have an issue with Clown killis eating the shrimp? I have a 12" cube that had a herd of Black Rose neos in it, and I added 3 Clown killis (1 make/ 2 females), and, before long, the shrimp population was down by at least 80%. The tank is heavily planted, so I didn't notice any issues. Those are the only two creatures in the tank.
I'm sure they're catching one here and there but never had major problems... it's possible.... but maybe there's another issue with shrimp? Maybe a disease of some kind?
Which crypts are those??
I have wendtii compact and albida brown there
@@HobbyScapesHQ ok
Will this work on my pond? Its already dark green had to transfer my fish to an aquarium but they kinda crowded there
I'm not sure... maybe. You might be better off buying something designed specifically for pond green water. It might be cheaper. I don't have any experience with ponds whatsoever.
Today I learned that snails have to react within exactly 40 minutes. Them being so fast and all. For God's sake, give them a chance to smell and locate the bait! Delete your channel, seriously.
That's a bit harsh... don't you think?
@@HobbyScapesHQ No. Bad reviews can seriously ruin a company's sale, so at least apply yourself before doing so.
It wasn't a bad review, tho... Like I said in the video... the snails are usually all over the shrimp food fairly quickly, but not this time... they might have been well fed... also, I'm also always open to a dialogue, but you went straight in with "delete your channel"
The struggle is real!
It's a good kind of struggle 😅
what type of fabric is that one, the black one?
It's hygrolon. Very good at wicking water.
@@HobbyScapesHQ what type of stores sell it?
I've got it from a shop specialising in orchids, but you might be able to find it on easy as well
