As to why I preffer Latterday Saint, and Not Mormon its because the Book of Mormon Testifies of Jesus Christ not Mormon. When I used to be an Evangelical I didn't like being called a Bible Thumper. The Title of Christian was not taken away from me for becoming a Member of This Church rather it was The Holy Ghost that prompted me to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints yet in the past people have said basicly the same thing I just did, and were accused of being deceived by Satan for their Trouble...Oh Well....I cant change my Family, but I hope you guys are sincere, and not just trying to promote your Channel by getting a Bunch of Subs from Latterday Saint Viewers. Take Care.

Thanks! Yeah the term “Mormon” was a nickname given by others and accepted by early members. It’s based on the name of an ancient prophet named Mormon who abridged the records that comprise the Book of Mormon. You can see why the name stuck. 😊 While it’s not offensive at all, it’s a name that we recognize is not representative of who we worship, that being Christ. So the name of the church is, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. That name clarifies whose church it is (Christs) who we worship and who we are as Latter Day (last days) Saints (anyone who follows Christ). I’m a lifelong member and live in New Jersey. I’d be happy to join your podcast, though it’d have to be a zoom call. Anyway, thanks for the unnecessary, but appreciated apology.❤

As a Latter-day Saint, it was painful watching some of this, because you simply repeated inaccuracies that have been circulated by anti-Mormons who intend to mock and twist our beliefs. Instead of doing what almost every other Christian channel does and just read the same list of inaccurate facts as everybody else, you should have done your own research on our doctrine. May I suggest you invite Pastor Jeff from Hello Saints on your channel. His channel Hello Saints is the only accurate one I've seen about an Evangelical seeking to understand us. Thank you for issuing an apology in a different video. Also, there is a difference between Latter-day Saint members owning businesses and the Church owing businesses. Jet Blue and Marriott are not owned by the Church. They are owned by member families who started those companies. The Church does own a lot of real estate and media outlets. I'm not sure what boarding school in Utah you are referring to. The Church owns several colleges and universities in several states. Maybe you meant Brigham Young University?

Love the reply’s/ comments. The original source of calling the LDS Mormons was during the early church. It was a derogatory term kinda like calling the blacks some of the things they have been called in derogatory terms. I’m sure you won’t find one member who is offended or bothered by being referred to as a Mormon, we called ourselves that for familiarity reasons when others have asked what church we go to for as long as I can remember. It is recently that the error of how we and others thoughtlessly identify us or ourselves has been brought to light. We are The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Our religion is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ.

  • @cognitiveresonance339

For everything that we latter day saints do correctly, we give full credit to living the gospel of Jesus Christ, as we underatand it. I recommend inviting pastor Jeff from the Hello Saints channel. He's an evangelical who has spent the last few years learning about our beliefs directly from us.

"There are some things we can take away from everybody." That's our (Latter-day Saint) 13th article of faith. If we can set aside our differences (not abandon them, just set them aside) and focus on 1) commonality and 2) what good perspective do you have that I can come to appreciate and perhaps add to my perspective, then we can have the same spirit Christ has when He goes and hangs out with the sinners and hanging out with some of the Pharisees who obviously have some misunderstandings. The folks He gives a hard time are those who use their religion to criticize others rather than lift them up. May God bless you both.

  • @Luirru55

If you want to show us respect, do not then call us Mormons like a dozen times after you even point out it is disrespectful. Also inviting us to talk with Christians means you think we are NOT Christians. Who is Jesus to us? What is the name of our church? The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. He is our savior, the messiah, and the Son of the Lord God. I hope this helps but please, watch this video to see the first point I made.

  • @joshuafusselman3323

Hello Kingdom Friends, some of my fellow members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have already addressed each of the inaccurate and/or misconstrued "mormon beliefs", so I'm going to skip that and jump to our core beliefs: We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. We believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior, and that we must have faith in Him and repent of our sins. We believe that every person is a beloved daughter or son of God. We believe that God guides us on Earth, partly, through prophets. We believe that God uses prophets today. We believe the Bible to be the Word of God. We also believe the Book of Mormon-Another Testament of Jesus Christ to be the Word of God. We believe that families can be forever. We believe that the most important thing we can do in this lifetime is to folllow Christ's example and love and serve others. Yes, we believe alot of other things, too, but these are our core beliefs that you're going to hear repeatedly at our meetings. Thanks.

  • @n.d.m.515

A lot of what was stated already was covered. I think what is missing is the financial history of the LDS history. From the start it was revealed that the Saints must support themselves, because the World will only seek to destroy them. Latter-day Saints tried twice to live a Communist (financial) type society similar to Christians in the Bible. The World interfered both times, but self sufficiency remained part of the religion. A few times the LDS Church were bankrupt, but that only caused a push to get out of that situation.

  • @n.d.m.515
    @n.d.m.515 Před 6 dny

We Latter-day Saints don't care if you call us non-trinitarian Christians, non-mainstream Christians, non-Biblical Christians (we might argue against that, but we will take it with a grain of salt), and even if it must be said false Christians. But to say Mormons aren't Christians is fighting words meant to provoke and disrespect (not out of any kind if love) because we worship Jesus Christ as our Savior and only Salvation -- no matter how wrong others think the beliefs. Also, over the years the name Mormon has deappriciated within the LDS Church to more associate with the official name The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mormon is a nickname in no way related to internal understanding of the religious believers, even if unofficially adopted for easy recognition.

It might be wise to consider the fact that Mormons ARE Christians. We're just not Protestants, Catholic, or Orthodox. We may have some different views on the meaning behind Christ's message as has been submitted to Man over the millenia, but do understand that we consider Jesus of Nazareth who who was born of the virgin Mary and who died for our sins is the only way to return to God. We also seek to implement His teachings in to our lives as any good disciple who has taken on the name of their Master should. And that is why we are Christians.

We call it the Book of Mormon because of the prophet Mormon. He was a prophet historian and was commanded by God to compile the best portions of the writings from ancient American Prophets. This American Bible as some would call it, should tie us all together and not divide us. It is proof that God loves all his children and that Jesus Christ really meant it when he said, “other sheep I have which are not of this fold, them too I must visit and there will be one fold and one Shepard”. Unfortunately the term different Jesus has been purposely weaponized by pastors around the world because it’s a threat to their fold which keeps their bills paid. You’ll find different Jesus already parroted in the comments below. We forgive them “for they know not what they do”. Jesus Christ himself is the Head of this church. His pure Gospel is found in the Book of Mormon and one will gain an enlightened understanding of the Holy Bible by using it. I am proud to be In Christ fold. I love all those who seek Him. The Bible is an amazing place to start. We are here to say there is more. Thank you for opening your arms to us as we would love to do the same to all of Gods children

How sweet, charitable, humble, and very Christian of you! Along with the other recommendations you've received, I suggest that you connect with Steven Pynakker, who hosts the "Mormon Book Reviews" channel. He's an Evangelical and very friendly with all Latter-Day Saints and those of other faiths. He does a lot of interfaith work and builds bridges between many different denominations. The intent of his channel is to be "a unique place where all the expressions of the Restoration can intersect with one another," where he offers an 'outsider' view on related subjects. As for calling members of our church "Mormons" -- I know the Church doubled-down on using that term a lot during the past 30+ years, with the "Meet the Mormons" films and videos and such, but as I understand it, they did that to combat all the negative content out there used to defame the Church and it's members... especially in the age of the Internet when people would search for the word "Mormon" and it was negative content that was the norm. They had to put out a lot of positive, accurate content when people searched for the word "Mormon". It's only been in the last few years that we have tried to turn that ship and be more diligent in expressing ourselves with the full name of the Church to get away from any erroneous belief that we worship anyone other than Jesus Christ. As a parting note, here's a quick video, less than 3 minutes, from a Baptist Minister, and a few comments he had to say that you may find interesting: czcams.com/video/Ldu4XnQOP08/video.html

This sort of humility is a rare occurance from personal experience. Thank you for living this Christ-like attribute. I know it's been 6 days at this point, and others have explained, but yes, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" is the full and proper name. What you might not know is, with a Modern-day Prophet and Apostles, the Church is a very living thing. So, despite being able to find many wonderful talks and things embracing the nickname "Mormon", the Lord has found it expedient (fit for a purpose), that we embrace and properly utilize the Full-and-Proper name for the Church. From personal experiences, I've found that as I follow the Lord's guidance through a Modern-day Prophet, I receive blessings. Hi! The reason we prefer to be called Latter-Day Saints, is because we don't want people to think that we worship Mormon. We worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That is why the name of the church is the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, so when talking about the Church, we like to at least say the church of Jesus Christ, that way we don't leave out his name. When referring to the members we are happy to be called latter-day saints. Saints because that was a word used in Psalms and the New testament to refer to believers of Christ. Latter-day, because we believe we are in the last days. Hope that helps.

I think what has happened with the name Mormon is that it has been taken over by other groups who are not part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. An example is Mormon Stories, it's run by an ex-mormon turned atheist. He is trying to destroy faith or deconstruct a person's faith, while making money at the same time. If you saw just the title you would think it is full of Mormons bearing their testimonies but it's not. Would you go to Judas to learn about Jesus? The name The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is owned by the Church, so can only be used by them. There are CZcams channels like Ward Radio which are not affiliated with the church but they will tell you they are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. From now on if you see someone using the word Mormon be aware they might be iffy on their information. It's been hard for me to make the change simply because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a long title to type out.

Surprised that nobody mentioned this, but Mormon is a catch all phrase for all who claim to believe in The Book Of Mormon, including some groups that have done very bad things, like the LeBarons with their hit list executions and the Fundamentalist Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints and the horrible things it's leaders ritualistically did to minors. The term leads to guilt by association. These groups broke off so they could do what was forbidden by our Church, and also by law.

@@bartonbagnes4605 it don’t see it as saintly to deceive. I’ve watched many testimonies of people who have left the Mormon church, including high priests and the common thread that I’ve noticed in all of their testimonies is the deceit that goes on within the LDS church. It makes sense that deceit is a big issue since you are following a man who was known for being deceitful. I challenge you to read the actual Word of God, and it will open your eyes to all of the lies of the book of Mormon. I don’t think that the average Mormon intends to be deceitful, but I do think that the majority of the leaders of the church do it intentionally to further their own means. There’s a CZcams channel called DeLaFe and they just produced two powerful testimonies of a former high priest and his wife, a former BYU professor. I dare you to watch them. They had my wife and I crying. Such beautiful stories about them finding the true Jesus!

@cornfedlife - Among the references to "Saints” in the Holy Bible, the Old Testament describes saints as those who love the Lord, have hope in the Lord, praise the name of God forever, and are faithful. The New Testament describes saints as those who keep the commandments, have faith, are willing to covenant with the Lord, those who serve and care for others, and glory God. By these descriptions, anyone who is a follower and disciple of Jesus Christ in word and deed can rightfully be called a saint.
