My name is Sam i love getting outside solo camping in my hammock and enjoying the great outdoors like our ancestors would have and connecting with the earth the way it should be. i practice bushcraft, i mostly hammock camp but also sleep under tarps and enjoy the tranquility of the forest and camping alone.

Hammock Camping in the rain #onewind
In this video i hiked through the forest in the rain to get to my camp location. i set up the onewind hammock and tarp to keep me sheltered from the rain.
i cut and processed wood with the #silkysaw and started the fire to keep me warm and dry.
when it got dark i hunkered under the tarp in my hammock and got a good nights sleep. in the morning the rain had stopped but the wind was still blowing over the trees. after i drank a coffee while watching a red squirrel climb the trees above i tidied up and left no trace of my camp.

I prefer my agawa 24, ive had a go of the silky and not a fan of how flexible the blade is
Fair enough mate there is a technique to the silky it does feel easy to break bit once you know how to use it its amazing
@haggishunteroutdoors yeah. I'm heavy handed 😂 their decent bits of kit don't get me wrong. Just not for me, I'd be replacing the blade every month haha
own several of these saws, would not buy anything else and would reccomend them 100%

Those hand reels arnt easy mate.. definitely try a deeper pool next time, leave a hand line in with worm and check on it every now and then. Wild trout on the fire is hard to beat! Nice camping!

@@haggishunteroutdoors I've had good success at night time leaving the rod out, when they feel confident to move into shallow parts of river. I'm wanting to try and ice fishing rod for this, I assume with split shot weights it'll cast far enough haha

Great camp and video Sam. For some reason CZcams had unsubscribed me, I have rice it now though. I have never used a hand reel before so can't give you any tips, river fishing is always harder though get yourself next to a loch and fish with a leger next time

That is a cracker of a spot mate. 👌 that little powerbait is deadly for perch bud not so sure it would catch trout but could be wrong! Dig up a couple worms mate hook em up same set up with the little shot weight & stick your bubble float on about about a foot or so depending on how deep the water is chuck it in let it drift through the soft pool section I would be surprised if you didn’t catch one 👌

Fore you hammock try Caribbeaners or soft shackles on the tree end of straps. This allows you to hook to one tree and walk to the other without unhitching your straps. It makes it less likely to lose you tree straps. :)

@@haggishunteroutdoors Try a wee fly on the line instead of a big lure. Probably have more luck with it. I don't fish rivers it's more sea fishing I'm into.
