I think something that also needs to be mentioned is the kinds of games you play and the res that you play at. 1080p competitive shooters at 240-360hz can still easily be handled by a midrange card from 2020-2021 and probably still can be handled for the foreseeable future!

for as long as i play in low settings in few of the games I like and able to use my pc at work. I'll stick to my rx 580. until now there is still upgrade from AMD and i hope it will continue to 2025. juice it till it will dry

DLSS Performance mode is only useable with DLDSR. With 1.7x DLDSR at 4K its upscaling from 1440p so ends up netting you that 'better than native' image quality due to the downscale added on

This "transitional" period where GPUs get 1.5x to 2x more VRAM, from one generation to another, has happened several times in the past, and it's always troubling. Given the current panorama of GPUs, considering the very high prices, and also that the majority of PC gamers are still using ≤ 8 GB VRAM GPUs, then perhaps games should be shipped "stock" with medium resolution size textures to accomodate those. Then providing a separate download for the high resolution size textures, aimed at those using ≥ 12 GB VRAM GPUs. It's a proven method (or compromise, depending on perspective) that has worked great in the past for certain game titles. And one that works for both scenarios (bigger and smaller VRAM).

5090 most likely gonna be 2,500 or 2000 usd because the actual sell price of the 4090 often went for over 2000 despite being 1499 msrp. Nvidia now knows what they can get away with. Easily over 2 grand.

Nvidia cards haven't been sensibly priced since the 10xx series.

5080 performance are going to be terrible for the price, and probably the worst GPU ever made on paper, the only thing I suspect about it is that Nvidia is going to release a new DLSS version with impressive new technology that is going to be available only for 50 series, forcing everybody to eventually buy a new one because of sheer software obsolescence.

I have my pc up for sale 😂 I haven't enjoyed gaming the past 9 years exept for like 4 games. Ill play some of my old backlog in my laptop but I'm done paying God knows how much for a pc just to enjoy 1 game every 3 years and spend more and more on horrible buggy incomplete games.

I think the problem is that they haven't had the breakthrough that Ryzen has yet. We never thought AMD would dominate the CPU market and here we are. Without that, there's no way they will fully compete, but if they can make that amount of performance jump, they could easily match pound for pound especially at their pricing structure. The biggest hurdle I think they run into is that AMD has always been AMD, but Radeon used to be ATI, which...used to be okay but was never really pushing the line forward versus Nvidia.

There are way too many dumb ass doomers when talking about pricing of GPU's these days. i highly doubt the 5080 will launch for more than $1200 given it will still be using 16gb vram and the 5090 won't be over $2000.. These prices are still dumb, but people flat out showing how stupid they are over and opver again by saying the prices will be higher gets annoying

They will set an even higher halo (5090) pricepoint imho. And they will slot the 5080 in at just under the current 4090 price. i.e. Effectively no price/performance benefit. My prediction, 5090, 3600 AUD inc GST (1800 USD pre tax) 5080, 2800 AUD inc GST (1400 USD pre tax)

I want to upgrade my 2060s, but Nvidia doesn't want people like me (max 600 usd) to buy a GPU, looks like I will buy AMD 8000 in that range, I couldn't care less about ray tracing.

It's absolutely rediculous. I bought my 3080 Ti 2 years ago and won't be upgrading for another 3 to 4 years. The last PC i bought before I had my new 5th gen 3080Ti machine built I had been quite happy with my 1080 which was a fantastic card. These companies especially Nvidea now are like the mobile phone company of Gaming. Relying on people who must have the latest card for bragging rights. Its BS

Guys, you have to remember there is a limit that people will pay for graphics cards, even Nvidia knows that, they cannot increase the price as much as they want. Imagine the RTX 5090 is twice as fast but costs 4000 dollars, at that point it doesn't matter anymore how fast it is, it's not going to sell, only a few people will buy it, it's just not worth it, Nvidia still need to sell for the masses, it doesn't matter how good their gpus are, if its too expensive, they will lose sales, and I dare to say they are approaching this price limit, my guess is 2000 dollars, because then AIB models will be even more expensive. You might think people will pay whatever Nvidia charges, but thats not true, there is a limit, and they are reaching this limit very fast. That's why I believe the 5090 for example will be 1600 or maybe 1700 dollars, the 5080 will be around 1000-1200 dollars again, they cannot push this limit further because they will not sell enough if they do, only a handful of deep pockets will buy and it will be a huge problem for Nvidia.
