Short and concise answers are key. I keep my vehicles clean and uncluttered for these very reasons. Nothing to hide under a pile of items in any of my vehicles. I also have dash cams on all of my vehicles. I carry my LTC permit in my wallet at all times.

Lawyers can be bastards. If they can defend known murderers with out blinking an eye is amazing. I know we all deserve a defense... but lawyers can make the victim in the case feel like he did something wrong.

Why should drivers be polite to an official who is trying to ruin their day, or possibly their life? I'm not trolling; I think people should consider this concept they've been taught their entire lives. Especially if they live in the _"Land of the Free and Home of the Brave."_

Some states now require the officer to state why a person is being pulled over like in California. But a lot of great advice given here.

The disturbing part of this all is that videos like this exist. People are literally scared of police.

I learned long ago. When you are a suspect they ( police, detective, procecutor ) do Not and will Not look or listen to anything to prove your innocent. To find you innocent is Not their job, now is it.

Always ask them a question back instead of answering them. Do you mind if I look through your car real quick? Why would you want to do that? Where are you coming from/going to? Why is that important?

My elderly mother had twenty five thousand dollars worth of jewelry disappear from her luxury condo. Some of it was supposed to be returned to my late step father's family upon my mother's passing. Mom had no idea when the jewelry disappeared, because she didn't wear it anymore due her arthritic fingers, which made it difficult for her to put on the rings or work the clasps on the bracelets and necklaces. The jewelry could have disappear recently or years ago. My step father's family wanted a police report to show a loss on their taxes. I arranged to be with my mom, when the police came to her condo. Who do you think they suspected of stealing the jewelry? Yours truly. They separated us and started these techniques on me. When they asked me who I thought took it, I gave them a list of people they could exclude, which threw them off balance. They expected I would deflect blame to someone else. You could tell they were stumped by my response. When I tried to innumerate the number of trades people who came through the condo, they would cut me off. Finally, they scribbled on a piece of paper, "The person who did this should be severely punished." I signed it without a second thought. I gave the cop a hard look, he gave me a hard bad ass cop look back, and I held his stare until he blinked. Interview over.

Seems to more or less line up with the police interview and interrogation class I've been been taking. Our instructor is a very experienced cop, but he's a good cop (he says it's worse for an innocent person to be convicted than for a guilty person to go free.) Some of the homework readings have even been about why false confessions sometimes happen, I think with the intention of learning about the danger and avoiding the same mistakes.

Years ago I got run off the interstate by a semi that forced me into the median. I was outside my truck looking for damage when a cop pulled up. He played the games with me instead of going after the truck. I denied him permission to search. He was mad as hell but eventually let me go and then followed me for 4 miles.
