One idea that works for me is to take a black and white picture with your phone; it can show value (light and dark). So often, we use medium values. A monochrome photo can help with that.

✍Hello... I need a new sewing machine so I can start to sew again and want to start quilting. I've made one quilt several years ago for my oldest daughter's (60) bed. I made a knotted quilt because I couldn't do a quilted one. My grandma made all her quilts by hand and were very beautiful. Her stitches were perfect. I on the other hand sewed clothes but want to make different things now. I've her heard all these different terms you ladies are using. To me what you're making is just a piece quilt. I've never heard jelly roll, potato chip etc. Where in the world did these terms come from. As you can guess I'm79 and have been away from all you modern ladies and what you sew for a long time. I find what you are making right now very interesting. Thank You for all the helpful tips. God Bless Bye from Ohio🌹

I now know why you are so passionate about the potato chip blocks. I've just recently been able to sit at the machine (due to a knee injury) and sew some of these blocks together and I am now totally addicted!!! You can't make just one.

June 27, 2024. Dear Lea Louise, I had to watch this tutorial again tonight. I sewed binding on from back to front. In your video you showed us the same method with the pretty pink binding. But the black and white was done front to back. And the final sewing on that quilt was also from the front. Do you have a video that demonstrates the final sewing of the back to front method? This where I run into problems in making it look nice on both sides. Thank you. Most appreciative, Marion in Oregon.

There’s really no need to add fabric. The projects are designed to be used on all the projects in the booklet. I found typos and cutting errors in my first box-and the fabric was all blah. I decided to give them one more try. In the second booklet they stated that the fabric is not quilting quality, but is lighter. The second box was all similar colors and of similar color value. Also, I didn’t like the projects. I a, going to cancel. This might be ok for someone who is just trying quilting out, but most experienced sewists will probably want to get a subscription from a different company. $40 for 4yards of fabric is too much. For that quality I could shop at JoAnn or Michael’s and get more yardage.

Of course it will twist, you skipped ironing some of your blocks, which you tell us not to do. I like the instructions, but keep to your own rules I also iron the side flying geese pieces before I attempt to put them onto the center blocks, before adding the other pair of flying geese.

I love this quilt and just looks beautiful to me. Love scrappy quilts.

Apparently Mrs.Quilty doesn't have a proofreader. Don't you think they would catch the obvious spelling errors before going to print? I love love love your content. You have such a creative mind. That box is not worth the price, though. I'd be disappointed if I spent $$ on it, especially getting non-namebrand, made in China fabric and 2 of the same fq bundle. There are better ways to spend money these days.
