      Everybody has different levels of experience so for one person (presumably a more aged quilter) it may be just "chatter" but for a less experienced (younger) stay be very informative.
      RUDENESS is not necessary for YOU have many options you can turn to

      There are a lot of beginner quilters watching my videos, Sandra. Which is why I frequently review the basics in detail and appreciate that it benefits lots of viewers. One of my favorite things to do is include mistakes. What better way to learn how to fix a mistake than to see someone else work their way out of it? Thank you for your concern on my behalf. Please know I never take personal offense to any comments. I appreciate the views and know that many will move on to other channels. Sure appreciate you watching! Happy Quilting,

      @@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise I was taught very young to hand sew some but not to machine or quilt.
      Yrs later pd to learn machine sewing though never got into it much. I'm now disabled so explore what I can do (example also learning to tie flys) and been teaching seeing better, making quilt tops, w/ intent to learn quilting.
      Almost finished 1st top in mini dresden plates. Already have it claimed just as a top and woman was told just learning though still driving me crazy every time sees me asking if done w/ it.
      So, I understand being newbie perspective, dealing w/ folks just ignorant and see only their view, and can see those w/ experience who are dumb and forget what was like in beginning, not to mention a creators view of trying to address all levels of learning.
      Not an easy task

      Sounds like you have your hands full, Sandra! So glad you're finding ways to be creative. @@InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise You are very welcome. I made my first little baby quilt just 55 years ago. I couldn’t really get the drift of the instructions I was supposed to use. It was supposed to be a sort of crazy quilt. She told me to use pages from the newspaper.
      Lol let’s just say it wasn’t very pretty. Thankfully I used an older embroidery pattern on white muslin. That part was pretty. It covered several babies and it’s a family treasure. 💜

I sew 2 to 10 hrs, about 300 days a year. Most are tied, from baby to king, sold a local farmers market all summer. I use fabric to bits, rarely have scraps of any size unless I plan a use. Hi Lea, I’m a quilter from the early 80’s. The potato chip block is my very favorite. I make them fro denim and flannel. I have a favorite thrift store that I go to to get my fabric. Can you imagine they raised the price of the jeans from 50 cents to a dollar. I use them for my homeless quilts. Keep on teaching they can become their favorite pattern too.

      Thanks for sharing, Joann!! Do you recall the name of this quilt pattern back in the 80's? I've found it being taught at a quilt retreat in the 90's as 'Lumberyard Quilts'. More recently it's been called 'Scrappy Rectangles'. It's fun to share stories about these quilts, where they originated, and how they re-emerged! You're right about thrift store prices. As with everything else prices keep climbing. Fortunately there are still some bargains to find for the diligent shopper. 😊 Thanks so much for your comment and for watching! Happy Quilting,

    This is so fun! I am not wanting to work on a specific block for a quilt, so I am cutting up scraps to 2 1/2x4 1/2 pieces to use for a future quilt. This is a great thing to do when you want to sew but not on a specific quilt block! Thanks for sharing your beautiful quilt.

    This is one of my favorite scrap projects. I am cutting pieces now. So many left over jelly roll strips work well in this, and the colors can be very scrappy as well. Thank you for this idea. The center block is a great starting place and a resting place for the eye. Then the low volume strips make another feature. I bet that could also be dark fabrics for a feature round.

    As someone with misophonia (little to no tolerance for certain sounds, voices or repeated sounds), for some reason your voice resonates well with me. I can’t say that for a lot of channels because they are too shrill or hard to understand (due to the fact they mumble…not because of any accent), or even worse - prattle on and on about nothing related to their subject. They take forever to get to the point so if I encounter that, then I tell YT “not interested” in their channel.

    ✍Hello... I need a new sewing machine so I can start to sew again and want to start quilting. I've made one quilt several years ago for my oldest daughter's (60) bed. I made a knotted quilt because I couldn't do a quilted one. My grandma made all her quilts by hand and were very beautiful. Her stitches were perfect. I on the other hand sewed clothes but want to make different things now. I've her heard all these different terms you ladies are using. To me what you're making is just a piece quilt. I've never heard jelly roll, potato chip etc. Where in the world did these terms come from. As you can guess I'm79 and have been away from all you modern ladies and what you sew for a long time. I find what you are making right now very interesting. Thank You for all the helpful tips. God Bless Bye from Ohio🌹

    Margaret from Pennsylvania here. A question? Are you repeating your fabrics or doing each patch with a different fabric as in a charm quilt? I’m currently making a charm quilt using a half square triangle and finding it quite a challenge using value to deal with all the colors. Your idea of doing the low volume inner border was terrific. It almost makes the quilt. Love it.

    • @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
      @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise Před měsícem

      Great question, Margaret! My goal was to use only one charm square from each fabric, then cut it in half for two rectangles. You'll find a number of duplicates, especially in the watercolors and low volume fabrics. For the most part the focal prints won't repeat too much. I love the mix of the same colors across many different prints. So glad you enjoyed this quilt. Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting,

      @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise Před měsícem

      That's a great idea, Barbara! It'd be a fun way to make it! Yes, I'm with you about the bricks. My guess is that brick patterns don't usually turn 90-degrees, they all usually go the same direction. To me this is like a log cabin. Instead of using one long strip, we use a pieced strip. Whatever we call it, the design is great fun to play with! Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting,
      Lea Louise
