    I just went to PLC juniors. In terms of sleep the worst bit was during SULE week. I had firewatch the previous 3 nights in a row so I was already pretty tired, Then we get to the bivouac site and our PLT SGT assigned firewatch himself instead of letting the scribe do it so I got firewatch again, but it was from 23-00 so i got fucked again. I got like 3 hours of sleep that night because they made us wakeup at 0345 to be ready for the 4 mile hike. I was deadass falling asleep while hiking the entire time. Then we did SULE in the afternoon and everytime i posted security i was snoozing lmfao.

      It's amazing how fast you pick up rank especially if you have previous military experience! I am tempted but I did vow to not myself through that again. It's not the BootCamp or ocs itself that is the hardest but always being away from family and missing important events is so depressing especially as you are getting older.

    There is the potential at OCS to challenge you, physically and mentally. I graduated in the 34th OCC in 1963. The physical demands may be more rigorous now but I believe like Pogo, you are your own worst enemy. You have to just do what you are directed to do and don't doubt yourself. That is the lesson of combat: just do what needs to be done, without thinking about it.

    Great video, I’ll just update as someone who graduated from PLC Seniors this summer. There was only 1 PFT in our 6 week course at the beginning with a 235 minimum to remain in the program. Most of the difficulty came with overall fatigue and the forge, so if you can train rucking or walking under load that’d be my recommendation. We didn’t have many PT sessions and they weren’t very difficult, so your advice on fartleks didn’t apply to our class at least. Our class didn’t do the fartlek course outside of Montford point, but being good at running and pull-ups is still a great idea. If you don’t lose your cool or get injured OCS will be a good experience.

      Honestly, I have been there. OCS is a very lonely place, and 3 weeks, though it may not seem like a long time to us, is forever when you are at OCS. All I wanted to hear whenever I was there was how excited my family was to see me graduate and all the things we were going to do on graduation day. Besides that, just listen to him. He is going to complain and just need to get things off his chest, he may get very emotional... just help him understand that he has gotten 7 weeks down... the last week is outprocessing so its easy... so really, all he has is 2 weeks left.

    OCS June 1976. Charlie 2 Platoon. Brown Field. Ancient 3 story brick building right on the river - big basement room with the laundry sinks, scrub tables, and clothes lines. Our Plt Sgt was a worthless SSgt, but our Sgt Instructor was a Corporal .... the only cpl Sgt Instructor in the company - so he had something to prove to the other Sgts, and we were it!. He was younger than me, steel wire thin and hard as woodpecker lips. Seemed like we spent 90% of the time with him alone. I can still hear his voice. Our platoon earned the Drill Guidon Award for best drill. Hardly ever saw the Capt Plt Commander. And everyone decided to smoke when the "smoking lamp was lit" outside by the river for 5 luxurious, endless minutes - maybe twice each day. Started with 50 candidates, finished with about 30. It was rewardingly very tough - at the perfect early point on one's journey along life's long road.

    So i have a question. I was enlisted 2016-2022 so this is the 8th year for me(in the irr). I graduate in cybersecurity in December. I just talked to the oso yesterday funny enough and he told me he could get me to go to ocs this coming January. So, two questions. 1st one can you take your phone with you? Because at bootcamp enlisted you couldn’t BUT the difference is we went home for 10 days. I ask because idk if tbs is right after. Last question. When it comes to mos school is it a lot of management classes you do like how it is in college? For example. A marine police will learn to be a police officer A marine officer will learn to be a police officer but also a “chief of police”? If that makes sense

    • @MrJoshHodge
      @MrJoshHodge Před měsícem

      Yes you will have your phone and whenever you have weekend liberties, you will be able to use it. No, TBS teaching infantry tactics. Every officer is a basic infantry platoon leader, so that’s what you learn. You do not learn your MOS until you go to your school house after OCS and tbs
