PEARL (2022) and BARBARIAN (2022) New Movie Reviews
I just finished clown in a cornfield! It was so good, and so twisty! It really was excellent, congratulations. :-) I can’t wait to read the rest of them.
Sibelle Hu was divine. I hope these kind of movies and actresses make a comeback.
Haunted by Chuck Palahnuik definitely put me on the horror genre i read it after a recommendation from a family member and i have to say i was enthralled from page 1 !
I have the Anchor bay collection shaped like a coffin, for me the weakest one on there is Screaming Starts! I may go back and give it another look.
Not a horror, but, The Blood Meridian (my favourite novel) is the one that scared me the most. Mainly because of the Judge.
My first horror book was the wolfen
Try Voyagers of hell. Its awesome.
There's a new Paul Naschy film on 4k from Mondo M, it would be cool if you did a review on that release.
spoiler
My name is carlos im in Brasil I love is Hong Kong movies
Do a Paul Naschy review.
Looks like a cool place
So kind of a similar plot to the new pet sematary?
Idk, I haven’t seen but seems plausible?
@@AdamCesare it’s probably not exactly the same but there is a Vietnam element that involves the death of a returning soldier and there is the supernatural element of the pet sematary that brings back said soldier. I can’t recommend the movie however lol
Dead of Night (Deathdream) is so good. I saw it as a kid and it always stuck with me.
I'm kind of shocked it isn't discussed more.
It's now got the original ending. It's 2001 for ants.
Great movie, very original. I first saw it on MST3K.
My only complaint about this movie is that it isn't more epic in scope. It would have been coold to see millions of ant attack a city. But, I assume they didn't have a budget for that.
Next of kin (1982). It was praised by Quentin Tarantino, but he kinda compares it to “the shining”. Me personally, I’d can pare it to Giallo, Dario Argento, or just art films in general. In fact, that’s what it is, an Australia artistic slasher films, one of the hidden gems and one of the good slasher films to have ever come out of that era. It has a few hiccups, but you can easily over look it. Luckily it’s slowly getting the “carnival of souls” treatment and becoming wider known and praised.
Adam ❤️ it! Thanks for such good info and the vibes are so dope! 🙏
First scary book I read was I am Legend loved it! My first Stephen King was Christine being a gear head I LOVED CHRISTINE
I was just catching up with your last couple of videos and this popped up… Not seen this one, but Superstition was a huge hit on VHS. Initially released from VTC in the U.K. before it was re-released after the certification crackdown under the title The Witch from a different label.
Ah, that makes sense then. Because I don’t think it enjoyed that kind of reputation/video rediscovery here. Unless I’m just too young to know?
No views, 1 minute ago. I wasn't expecting to see that xD. What a sharp timing I caught the video.
You got in on the ground floor!
Red Dragon
I haven’t seen Phase IV since I was a kid when it was shown on late night TV.
I'm French and I saw Vermines (or Infested as it's apparently known in English) in theater several months ago. I think it's my new favourite horror movies about spiders, alongside with Arachnophobia. This film was brilliantly made. It might even be in my top 10 French horror movies from the last decade, and definitely my favourite horror films from 2023. I loved the double-meaning and symbolism of spiders in the movie, used for social commentary and as a metaphor for discrimination. It was a very character-oriented movie, which is relatively rare in the animal-attack genre. I also really liked the way spiders are treated in this movie, as victims who react to this new "hostile" environment they were brought in, and defend themselves against the potential threat humans are. It was quite well done and the dialogues of the characters around it were pretty well written. On top of that, the movie was incredibly effective when it comes to scare factor. I also felt that watching in theater was a plus, cause the big screen really immerged me in this building and made the climax pretty intense.
Glad this has come out again. I always thought it was the best of the early 70s eco-horror films: for me way better than Solyent Green. Also a genuine Science Fiction premise, which is rare for the movies. Also sat very nicely with the 1960s/1970s New Wave/Eco SF of a JG Ballard or John Brunner. You might be interested in an excellent Channel 4 1990s documentary about these themes, featuring clips from Phase IV: czcams.com/video/V4dh69laHuU/video.html
People just love or hate this trilogy. I dig em tho.
Thank you for continue your work
If you love Hasta el Viento Tiene Miedo, I recommend Más Negro que la Noche, Veneno para las Hadas, and El Libro de Piedra.
Great video! I also review horror movies I enjoy your style Keep it up P.S just subed
“The Fisherman” by John Langan immediately got me into the horror genre. I have not looked back since
Flesh eater sounds great!
The one that got me started : Dean Koontz = Dragon Tears First time I was "reignited" : Brian Lumley = Blood Brothers I never lost the passion but I lost the time, so the second re-ignition was Audible. There It was : Christopher Buehlman = The Lesser Dead
Wow!!! I soo appreciate you talking up the Lesser Dead!!!!! I have been telling everyone about that book for the last two years!!!! And you are spot on ! I also listen on audible I don't have time to read so I do alot of audible these days
How good is the video picture quality of this film from MVD Visual?
I would call it serviceable. Not outstanding, not bad. A definite upgrade over DVD, where I believe the film wasn’t even widescreen, as it is here.
@@AdamCesare I'll have to try to get it on sale. It was $9.99, but it sold out.
Heck ya!
I've always wanted to see this movie, gonna have to order it. Great review ! Love the channel !
Thanks so much for watching! Hope you enjoy it!
Nice to see this get some love, it's a guilty pleasure for me, importing VS titles is expensive for me but this was a must have🙂
They’re expensive here where I don’t have to import them! So I can only imagine!
I’m glad you mentioned the meanness of the film. It is one of those films where nobody is safe. I remember being surprised, not only by the callous deaths but also by the surprising amount of gratuitous nudity in the film. It is a fun, often overlooked entry into zombie sub-genre.
It’s a movie that does *nothing* halfway.
ha ha , lost count how many times i have seen this , fell in love with it back in the early 00s , i totally embraced that backyard esthetic of a very specific moment in time in Pittsburgh and you're right , the gore fx are awesome , excellent summation , these are basically my exact sentiments also i love The Majorettes for some the same reasons , and the twist in that one is totally bonkers
100% so much blood and charm.
I wish we saw more spider/creepy crawly swarm movies. My only pet peeve is that almost every spider movie also goes with giant spiders for some reason and I kind of feel like the bigger they get, the less scary they get weirdly. Even here, I liked the movie a lot but towards the end when they get huge, they started to fall off for me, like the swarms of little spiders potentially hiding behind any and everything was much more scary and stressful IMO. It gives that feeling like as you're watching, you could be surrounded by spiders hiding in, under or behind anything around you. Giant spiders can't give that and they also break the real fear since giant dog sized spiders or bigger, don't exist.
Definitely adding this to my watchlist. Always looking for a good found footage movie I haven't already watched.
Thanks for the kind works about the location video :) 😊
❤
Watched it on youtube a couple years ago and the shoddy 240p quality really didnt do it any favors, i just remember it feeling sluggish rather than what you would think would enhance the creepy grainy atmosphere. Anyway, it’s on shudder now and I think that rewatch was way more immersive. Watch this one with the lights off and the volume high. Good review King adam :) now i wish i copped a physical!
I didn’t care for it either
Loved it!

Try we’re going to eat you my favourite Hong Kong. Horror
I always thought that the behavior of Toulon in Puppetmaster II was a combination of just "coming back wrong" as they say, the fact that his brain had been damaged by decomposition, and the fact that the puppets used animal brains rather than human brains in the formula. It also explains the creation of the more purely-evil Torch, and the fact he does not recognize Leech Woman as containing Elsa's spirit and instead thinks she's been reincarnated. (And the same reason he doesn't react after what happens to Leech Woman.) Toulon acts the way he does because he was literally driven insane by the way he was brought back to life.
That's exactly how I justify it up too and it works. I have my doubts that was intended but it's easy enough to justify when you consider how unusual Toulon’s resurrection was to the rest of the franchise. He was dead for a very long time, and the puppets bitched the recipe which is acknowledged in the film itself. So it's very easy to have zombie Toulon be a psychopath.
The fisherman ! Absolutely loved it
