Thank for the great review. I'll definitely be checking this one out. Random question, when are we going to get some Clown in a Cornfield merch Mr. Cesare? I love the cover art for the series; hats off to the artist.

I'm French and I saw Vermines (or Infested as it's apparently known in English) in theater several months ago. I think it's my new favourite horror movies about spiders, alongside with Arachnophobia. This film was brilliantly made. It might even be in my top 10 French horror movies from the last decade, and definitely my favourite horror films from 2023. I loved the double-meaning and symbolism of spiders in the movie, used for social commentary and as a metaphor for discrimination. It was a very character-oriented movie, which is relatively rare in the animal-attack genre. I also really liked the way spiders are treated in this movie, as victims who react to this new "hostile" environment they were brought in, and defend themselves against the potential threat humans are. It was quite well done and the dialogues of the characters around it were pretty well written. On top of that, the movie was incredibly effective when it comes to scare factor. I also felt that watching in theater was a plus, cause the big screen really immerged me in this building and made the climax pretty intense.

Thanks Adam! I watched INFESTED the other night and it terrified me. I’m naturally afraid of spiders anyway, and this movie made my anxiety shoot into space. I almost had to turn it off a few times but I didn’t.

Given your own work, you really do understand "a simple story told well." I will make this one my end-of-day treat if I'm a good girl at work! Thanks!

I wish we saw more spider/creepy crawly swarm movies. My only pet peeve is that almost every spider movie also goes with giant spiders for some reason and I kind of feel like the bigger they get, the less scary they get weirdly. Even here, I liked the movie a lot but towards the end when they get huge, they started to fall off for me, like the swarms of little spiders potentially hiding behind any and everything was much more scary and stressful IMO.
It gives that feeling like as you're watching, you could be surrounded by spiders hiding in, under or behind anything around you. Giant spiders can't give that and they also break the real fear since giant dog sized spiders or bigger, don't exist.

Loved it. One of the most genuinely nerve shredding killer bug (yes I know spiders aren't technically bugs) movies ever made. Bugs don't bother me in general, so bug movies don't give me the willies.
THIS gave me the willies. Some true nightmare fuel images and sequences here. The stairway sequence was a stunner.
