It's a one day match with bouncer restrictions. Low pitch. Hadlee bowling around 130KM/80MPH here, relying more on accuracy and swing. Plus both Kapil and Tendulkar are good players of pace bowling, and have experience and skill of playing without helmets. If it were a Test match at the WACA, Hadlee would have probably bowled around 140KM/87-88MPH when fresh, and these two might have considered helmets. But Kapil could still have played without one, having had the experience of playing the fearsome WI quartret of the early 80s without helmets. Him and Botham were skilful hookers and pullers.

A great time had with a father & older brothers at this game,traveled from Hamilton upto Auckland,a 12 year old Maori boy remembering running onto this field after the game,has me giggling,running straight to my fave player at the time (James leuluai) & having the chance to touch & standby my league hero has me smiling still today 😊…

Look, I know England's got a long and respected history in rugby league but seriously, their grounds are crap. Wet, damp, slow with short in goals. Most of time they're using remarked soccer grounds. Where's the dedicated rugby league grounds like mt. Smart or suncorp. Sorry, but RLWC should never be played in the northern hemisphere.
