Just leave it on automatic scroll every two or four seconds and get used to watching what goes by. Very simple depending on your set up and whether you have fuel flow. Also, get used to downloading the data and viewing it on the Jpi EZtrend software, you'll be surprised how much you learn about your engine and it's performance.

Hi Jose, appreciate the comment...what a great flying life you've had! I was ready to change planes after 41 years w my J, but after flying an Ovation, Cloumbia 350, and Diamond D-40 i decided to double down, and installed a modern Garmin panel in my '79J. That has gone well, with smart glide etc, but the next step of converting to an EIS ignition has been tough, with many test flights. Like many before me I've made my plane 'unsellable' but will keep my trusty bird. Of course I would like a different challenge, and think the best -better- plane past Mooney is the Bonanza. The EDM 700 is a legacy monitor, currently serving as n thousands of aircraft. Once set up, it scans without requiring any user input. Please check the EDM900, or even if he EDM730/830 for a easier to program monitor.

You might want to call them, 800.354.4574 to see, I believe the units are sent out with the aircraft POH values. If your unit is not primary, you might be able to reprogram totals, deeper in the settings menu, but please check with them first.

Go into program mode, (or cycle the unit on/off and fuel you added is the first question

No I'm a mallet player so I'm familiar with different kind of percussion instruments but I particularly love the gamelon. Especially the wooden gambon instruments are the most amazing to my ears, so big they actually ride him! Sounds like you had a fantastic trip almost hard to imagine traveling with those two monsters in the music industry… Thanks again for your comment
