So many things I could add, but one of my biggest pet peeves is the overuse of air conditioning in the US. In the summer, even on nice warm days, I feel like I need to take a jacket with me everywhere in the US. Not so in many other countries that I have visited. They tend to use it in moderation.

I left the US in March 2019. First I went to Puerto Rico for 2 weeks to volunteer with All Hands And Hearts. repairing roofs on homes there after Hurricane Maria. After leaving Puerto Rico I taught English as a second language for 2 1/2 years until leaving in October 2021. While living in Cuenca I totally enjoyed not needing a car Everything I needed was without walking distance. Fresh fruits d vegetables were sold by Street vendors. There was also taxis, buses and a cheap transvia to get around town. My apartment rent in Cuenca was only $160 monthly which included all utilities and internet Before moving to Cuenca I was renting a room from a friend for almost $500 month. Then I had to have a car and drive in a miserable 4 lane highway to get anywhere. I had to keep up with tags, repairs, and gas. Since I left Cuenca, I have traveled to Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, England, Scotland, France ,Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro Albania, Greece, Belguim

Maybe I won’t need a passport. After all no one needs identification to come into this country. I think I had the best idea. By getting a megaphone and standing at the border and telling all of the immigrants how horrible it is here. But maybe you should put on clothing that looks like you’re not making $100,000 a year

I’ve lived in Calcutta India I started a school there, I’ve visited two other occasions I’ve traveled to Jordan, Israel, Mexico, England, and India. I’ve lived in New York City and now I’m back in Oklahoma, where the Native Americans such as myself were pushed by people who, quite frankly look like you.

Would really appreciate your self or any experienced pet/house sitter given their opinion on the following :- I am a 71 years old, British, very fit, a great deal of travelling, working and living around the world and when Airbnb started up, spent three summers staying with owners having a great time seeing Europe. I would be a 'newbie' but was a volunteer at a Wildlife Centre caring and doing presentations for the animals they had, plus over the last ten years have for friends walked, kept an eye on and even have lived with me several dogs and cats. Ex RAF, Civil Engineering, DH Teacher and IT Trainer meeting a wide range of people in my time. A gardener, house renovator and good at dealing with problems or a crisis. Recently learnt nearby for maybe two years major construction works which will negate me sitting reading, writing and painting in my very quiet garden, thus the idea of pet/house sitting now appeals me. Trusted House Sitters have told me, I would be in great demand but research in reading many 'sitters reviews' are ALL females or couples, as yet have NOT come across and oldie and a male like me. Thus even though very much like the idea of house sitting, i.e. lounging about, painting in the garden and taking dogs for a walk and cuddling cats, I now suspect I have been 'naive' in believing I would be a popular choice by owners and even though the company 'say' they have a money-back policy if after 14 days a new sitter gets no bookings - I am not convinced I would get my money back plus the time and effort in applying to sit which would be places that were not popular, i.e. non-tourist type places as in most cases, been there and done it. Thanking anyone, who spends time reading my comment and any opinions or experiences would be most gratefully received.

When it comes to education, you don't have to pay for all the tuition. What I did is find a company where I want to grow and make it a career, and then the company will pay your tuition depending on your grades. That's being smart. Not everything comes out of pocket.

Hey you both are doing well by talking about issues with the u.s. I want to leave the u.s. behind and never look back, but afraid of where to go and how to sustain myself abroad. I'd like to be free from the bs, and propaganda and political division and the fighting. There must be something better out there! This is not living it's dying like a toxic cancer. Definitely have to escape before the 24 presidential elections. No matter who wins, likely for something to go wrong. Why aren't the wealthy 1% showing the same level patriotism as the mainstream? When they outsource their manufacturing plants to Asia and anywhere they can get cheap labor and getting tax cut from your taxes. And leaving Americans jobless? When they stash their money in their offshore accounts and living in mansions in exotic islands far away from America, while making money off you in their sleep. Well done. I couldn't agree more. I've lived in Bali since 2010. Convinced a friend to move here too. She lives in a different part of the island than I do because she likes the weather better there. You can choose the summer climate you want in Bali. Neither of us will ever move back to the US.

I feel safer walking around a city in Mexico alone as a solo female and can afford to eat out daily with substantially lower restaurant cost. Also Mexicans are so kind and helpful. I feel like I’m treated better, in Mexico. I would have moved to France but the French are more closed and less helpful. Customer service and beaurocracy is best in USA. In mexico I hire a facilitator to do simple things live visas and driver’s licenses.

I used to pay $1,200 per month for health insurance and should have left the USA years ago. Now I’m on Medicare and have become a resident of Mexico.

You said it all for me when you said public transportation. I want to see Germany in 1990 and that's been my drama been banging on ever since about how poor public transportation is in the United States outside of pretty much basically New York City. And even in New York it's like very dangerous to ride the public transportation. My public transportation here in Cleveland Ohio is just beyond.digusting . I swear the average age of one of my public buses is around 15 to 16 years old😢.
