Rural Life of Villagers in Cambodia | Floating Village Tonle Sap Cambodia / Walking Tour 2024
I am going inside the rural floating village of people in Cambodia to experience the floating lifestyle in the countryside and show you how the people at Tonle Sap Lake live. This includes the activities of sellers at floating markets, villagers' lives, rural lifestyle, walking tour and boat tour around the village, visiting a floating church and a Buddhist temple and going inside a school for Vietnamese orphans, based on the water. I will also show you the Khmer street market foods and talk to the Cambodian people about the Cambodia traditional country lifestyle, primitive life on the water, Cambodia street food, cultural activities, religions, ceremonial activities, and everything from Cambodia rural village sides of all religions, Khmer rural lifestyle and Cambodian People.

All those ppl that live on the tonle sap are vietnamese ethnics.. not cambodian.
I was thinking that, at least in the majority, the people we saw were Vietnamese but I assumed Cambodian people were living there too since our Cambodian guide said so, I am still confused about that and would like to learn more
Those people are Vietnamese indeed. Not Cambodians.
Certainly, the majority of people we saw at the village were Vietnamese, we were told that Cambodian people live there too but the school was only for Vietnamese children
@@OlaLily The Vietnamese live in that situation because they’re migratory people like Turkic and Mongolian nomads. They migrated down to Cambodian territory (like how Turkic people migrated to Greek territory) in search for autonomy so they live as outcasts. Or so I’ve been told. Their homeland is in Southern China or what is present-day Hanoi. They are fairly new to Southeast Asia. Only been there for 3-400 years. Whereas Khmers, 4,000.

I pity the orphaned children. They really need more government help and assistance. On the brighter side, at least they have access to education. Donations should be given only to recognized charity organizations, not to donation boxes or individuals since the money could be pocketed. About the crocodiles, I agree that they should have a bigger place or better still, a natural habitat. You're quite different from other British vloggers since you zero into the "real" raw life unlike those who focus mostly on luxurious lifestyle. It should be combination of both.
I agree, sadly charity scams happen all over the world so it’s important to donate the money only to recognised organisations. But yes, I have to say, given the situation, they mostly looked happy and at least had access to education and could play with the other kids of the same age. Let’s look at the positives too. The carving details are so intricate. No wonder it took many long years to build those temples. The tree roots are quite massive. It's good you managed to stand the sweltering heat. It must be a total relief arriving at the hotel. Good exploration ! You could be an Archaelogist. 😃
Honestly, when you are as fascinated by something as I was by Angkor Wat, you don’t even feel tiredness or the heat, I felt like I could continue exploring it for many more hours. It was only the next day I started to feel it in my legs 😂 the carvings were absolutely spectacular, especially considering how large the area is 😊

Hi ola, my best friend want to travel on our own or like a hire a local guide. Is it easy to get around? Is it safe?
Heyy 😊 I’d say it’s relatively easy to get around, as you could get local buses to travel in between different cities. I suggest always reaching out to the homestays you plan to stay at beforehand so that they could hopefully help you organise transport to their place. As to safety, you have to be careful and very cautious in both Sandakan and Semporna. The lady who worked at my homestay in Sandakan would ask me not to leave to go anywhere in Sandakan by myself, she would always come with me or ask the taxi driver she knew to take me. Honestly, she would come with me even to the supermarket 3 minutes from the place. That was very surprising to me but she said Sandakan wasn’t safe, especially for solo female travellers (those were her opinions, not mine, but I of course decided to follow her advice and was very thankful for her help).
