    Today I went to the market in the Philippines to eat these Filipino Street Food Meals that I am absolutely in love with. They are very cheap and tasty, some are also healthy. It was amazing to try these Famous Filipino foods, some of which I knew I already loved and others which I discovered today. I am a foreigner traveling in the Philippines, an English Girl travelling solo in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. But currently, I am with my Filipina friend who I met here and who has been introducing me to the different Filipino street food, available at the night markets in Bais City, Negros Oriental. Some of the meals we were trying include the very famous Bangus (milkfish), vegetable lumpia (Lumpiang gulay), shrimp omelette (shrimp fritters, okoy or ukoy), Bihon (Pancit Guisado noodles), Guso (Eucheuma seaweed), and my absolute favourite, Laswa, healthy vegetable, malunggay (moringa) and pumpkin soup, full of nutrition.
    I love the street food markets in the Philippines. They have cheap, quick and easy foods. The Filipinos and Filipinas there are also very friendly and kind, ready to help you with anything you need.
    I have never tried these foods in England, and even if some of them are available in London, they’d cost a lot more money. I think I'm lucky to be here in the Philippines 🇵🇭❤️🇬🇧

    7:07 malunggay or moringa is said to provide 7times more vitamins c than oranges,10x more vitamin A than carrots, 17x more calcium than milk, 9x more protein than yoghurt, 15x more potassium than bananas, and 25x more iron than spinach...

      Exactly, I've heard this about malunggay too and I just find it incredible, that's why I try to have it every day for breakfast since discovering it. I'd love to be able to bring it home to my family so that they could grow it for themselves in their garden, but I am pretty sure it wouldn't grow in a European climate.

      Maybe it will. Bring home some seeds with you. The tree grows 6 inch flat pods and the seeds are inside them. I'm sure you'll have no problem bringing them out of the country.

    Thats true that if tourist eat at local Carinderia's ,its way cheaper than eating at restaurants. I sea from other vloggers that they are really careful and ensure that food is cooked fresh. Enjoy your travel in Philippines❤❤❤

      I am not sure if tourists pay different prices than the locals in restaurants, but some restaurants can be really quite expensive from my experience, whereas these markets are very affordable. And I’d say the food is definitely fresh, at least I’ve never had any problems with it and I’ve been eating at these markets a lot. Only once I didn’t feel well after the food in PHL but that was from the island hopping tour in El Nido. Thank you so much for your kind words ❤😊

    I've been there already to Bais on an overnight stay just so we can visit the Manjuyod Sandbar. That sandbar is very beautiful. Since I can't swim, I really enjoyed the chest deep waters when it got high tide.. Imagine swimming seemingly in the middle of the ocean, no land in sight but the waters are only chest deep. If only Bais was more urbanized, we could've spent another night. Bais is a sleepy rural town. When I went there, night markets weren't a thing yet. Only restaurant was Mang Inasal and mostly are Carinderia or small local food businesses.

      @OlaLily  Před 8 měsíci

      Was it a long time ago when you went to Bais? Because I find Bais urbanised (too urbanised for my liking, as I prefer more rural places in Negros haha but we all have our own preferences), but there are many restaurants in Bais, several different night markets also, I’m just saying as it might have changed since you went there and now it might be more to your liking. I am so grateful you have told me about the Sandbar though and I wish I had known about it sooner. The place looks beautiful when I search it online, and now on my list to hopefully do in the future - thank you 😊🇵🇭

      Yes, since you're already there in Bais, pls try to visit Manjuyod. It's only less than 30 mins away. Ask the locals the best time to arrive so it will be low tide and the sandbar is fully above the water. Stay there a few hours till the water slowly crawls up to chest level. The place is a very big swimming pool. No way of drowning.
      I went there February 2020.

    I can see you're health-conscious when opting for food. That's good! I myself try to have the habit of getting more fruits, veggies and seafood. I believe that the fried milk fish (bangus, pronounced "bang-ooz" in Tagalog) you ate is deboned (no cartilage or fish bones). Street foods are cheaper and likewise tasty compared to dishes served in a restaurant. But it's also nice to sit and enjoy the ambience of a place while eating your meal from time to time. That's the big difference. At any rate, I myself love street food when I travel to any city in Asia, America, Middle East and Europe. I'm also budget-conscious. LOL😀

    • @OlaLily
      @OlaLily  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I think it’s good to keep things balanced 😀 even budget aside, if we were to go out and eat in restaurants every day, it would soon lose its charm and the ‘special’ feeling to it. I completely agree with everything you said. Thank you for commenting 😊

      You're welcome. Right! Even top Foodie Vlogger Mark Weins explore remote street vendors whenever he travels. It's not only adventurous but also a rewarding experience.Keep it going.🍉🥭🍍🥦🍆🧀@@OlaLily
