NP241c teardown for NWF Ecobox build

I am building a DIY Ecobox from NWF (NorthWest Fab) and needed to harvest some parts for it. My donor for the gear reduction is a Np241c out of a Chevy because of the 6 pinion planetary gear set and because of the availability of the case. The flat snap ring pliers I used. amzn.to/44ZJMx3

Did I miss it? What is the plan here? I assume this is going in the XJ? I'm interested to hear what you are planning. I would like to put a doubler in mine.
You caught me. I miss saying that this is part of a series where I build a doubler to go in my XJ. I'm going to be running a Northwest Fab gear reduction eco box in front of this 205

Mines to noisy, going back to stock spider gears Dana 44 98 TJ
Some people reported lunchbox lockers to be noisy. Some don't. Mine wasn't. But I think that might have something to do with tolerances inside the case.
@@FMJeeping Sound right, I don't off road enough to warrant a locker, and it's just non stop click clack while I'm driving on pavement. When I put the spider gears in, I will check tolerances for sure.
You have 2lbs of dirt on your neck.
Yeah i do. I couldn't believe how dirty i got
Installed them but i have a problem One side works fine The other ( driver side ) doesn’t fully light up the side “<. .>” bars dont work and im not sure what to do help?
I would try both lights on the side that work to verify if the lights themselves are working. That would rule out bad lights. Then it would indicate a wiring issue.
B1S1 and B2S1 are both supposed to be up and down, that is correct and normal. You are correct that any S2 should be steady. That is the one measuring Cat performance.
Thanks!
Yes. Add 2 quarts to a full tank of gas! After that a quart when it starts driving slugish! I haven't seen any low catalyst codes on my engine scans at all!
good. sounds like it worked
Frameless and shameless 👍
Yessir
How much did that extra weigh? And tiny bit of extra oil capacity? Help cool that 205?
The replacement piece was probably about 12oz. The piece I cut off is on the top of the box , so it wouldn't affect the oil capacity.
and a pain in the ass when jacking from the floor for a Trans xfer case installation
Ill find out soon enough
I like your style man!
Thank you!!
I have the Specter cowl kit specifically for the TJ. It's NOS in the box. I've been thinking of installing it, but I've read cold air intake is a hoax. You may gain 5 HP max. Anyone care to dispute this?
Nate from dirt lifestyle actually did a pretty thorough test on the TJ cowl intake. I don't remember specifics but I remember there being lower intake air temps which could potentially add a little bit of horsepower. since the daughter I haven't dynoed my Jeep but I do have slightly better throttle response.
Nice, Could you tell me the part number of the front yoke or which transfer case you adapted it from? 😮
The input shaft i am using is a NP231J input shaft from 91+ transfer case. The 23 spline one. I havent decided which yoke I'm going with for the outputs yet. I currently run 1350s at the transfer case side and they have been holding up fine. I do plan on a bigger engine in the future so i might account for that on the yoke /u joint size
Hopefully I can start on my doubler some day soon
keep an eye open for cheaper parts as they become available

Similar to a Loch-Stewart intake. Loch-Stewart was from Queensland, Australia. A legend of his time.
Good to know. I had never heard of that brand before
is this a 04 and up dana super 60 axle or hub asy ? My 2003 f250 5.4 4x4 dana 60 does not have bolt/screw holes in the (round tube that extends from the knuckle that the locking hub sits in /extension locking hub tube ) and is to thin to drill holes into to attach the caps that come with these kits ?????? any info. appreciated.
It's an 05+
@@FMJeeping thanks, for others info. on this i found out that there is a different kit for my type that i believe doesnt use a spacer/nylon and then uses a snap ring like factory.
why is your jeep falling apart
It's not falling apart, but any good machine needs to have preventative maintenance. I beat on it on my last trip out. This is why I check before going out.
Who need brakes
I do. I hit enough stuff.
I like that version better.

Question: I’m tryin to get in the lower ball joints in using the OTC extension but I can’t get it fully seated. The ring starts to slightly move unvebnely in the lip and you can still see a centimeter or so of the bottom of the ball joint that still needs to be pushed up. I was thinking.. should I use the larger shorter ring of a normal ball joint press and use it on the bottom of the ball joint in conjunction with the small otc adapter to push it up more and make the rings level while pushing the joint up? Thanks again man for the video.
I'm sorry, I am confused by the description. the ball joint needs to be fully seated in the C's all the way to the ring.
you talk waaaaaaaaaaaay too much with extraneous chit chat. we don't need every detail of your life. Ask you what time it is and you'e gonna tell us how a clock works.
I ......nm. I'll shut up
@@FMJeeping Listen I don't know you and you don't know me. People watch DIY to get solutions to problems. They are already irritated when they get here, so for you to string them out while you explain your life to get to what they came to hear is annoying. Like when you took the car for 150 mile run with the lacquer in it, you didn't have to take us along for a turn by turn analysis. It's like you are trying to take 5 minutes worth of information and make a 16 minute video. Very annoying. You could have said everything you needed to say in4-5 minutes.
@@francispressly8517 fair enough. I've been there.
@@FMJeeping I am glad you understand. If you are gonna be DIY information as a service, keep it short and sweet. People will appreciate your consideration for their time. If you just want to entertain, make a movie.

Before you put the lexan in, what did you use for the molding?
I didn't use any, but there is a 3m product called windshield adhesive ribbon Like this amzn.to/3xYKbmO If I were to do it again. I would use this and it will seal off the weather.
Mine still comes on?
sorry. It doesnt always work, but its worth a shot.
Doesn’t doing this possibly cause the cars computer to go open loop fuel system due to the downstream o2 sensor not getting hot enough?
The sensor sees the heat, just not the direct flow.
@@FMJeeping I temporarily tried the non fouler and after driving a few miles I saw the fuel system go into open loop mode. I thought once warmed up it’s supposed to be closed loop. Found it odd after the test drive with it still running the scanner said fuel system open loop. Thought it’s supposed to be CL at that point. Idk my understanding of scanner data is quite limited
@@lh98 it takes about 10-15 mins to get into closed loop. Basically when the car reaches operating temp for a sustainable time. Before that it runs on a default. I'm not sure but I think newer cars have issues with the fouler.
Lol, retire it!!!! Such solutions for things that never should have been! The plazma cutter seems more interesting🎉 And one without a blinking screen 😂

I always watch your videos before going to the junkyard so I'm all motivated. "Yeah that guys workin on his Skeet Jeep" I need parts for mine!" Kinda like when your dog is in the car, and see's another dog in a car. *Cuts to family guy scene* "Louis! Thers another dog in that car!"
Lolol. I get it . And i love the reference
This is a sweeeeet off roading build man. I missed the party with that roll cage. I'll have to watch the video where you put it in. But those tail light guards are cool too. Nerd tip : 16:10 The reason your lights flash during time lapse is the refresh rate of the lights is different from the cameras. If you lowered the refresh rate for the camera during time lapse recordings that might go away. LEDs probably run 1/4th the cycles of 120v so 14hz would be where I'd start.
Thank you so much. I was trying to fix that. I had no idea
My 2000 xj suddenly started slowing down as you take off from say, the stop sign then it sore of moves as I try accelerating ,Good thing it wont shut off. The dash says NO BUS..
Check the ground near the oil dipstick tube. The ground for the bus is there and if its not a good clean ground. You will get that error .
