I would have put BTTF 2 up there with BTTF 1 since they tie them together. Marty sees himself from the first movie. I thought that was so cool. Also Deja Vu with Denzel Washington was a nice one. Maybe E.T. also lol.

I am in strong agreement. I am a little more forgiving with the first Matrix and Back to the Future sequels, and I hate Quite Earth, but other than that, I'm in near perfect agreement.

9:31 "No gravity in space"?!? In low Earth orbit?! Oh Neil, you of all people should know that there is practically just as much gravity in low Earth orbit as there is on Earth's surface. Objects in orbit like satellites and the International Space Station are actually free-falling and being pulled by Earth's gravity, but they never hit the earth so long as they maintain a velocity of 28,800 km per hour parallel to the Earth's surface. Satellites fly sideways so fast that they continually over-shoot the Earth while free-falling.

My ranking of the films mentioned (the ones I've watched) --> S-tier = The Martian, Contact, Deep Impact A-tier = Interstellar, Independence Day B-tier = Gravity, Back to the Future, 2001: A Space Odyssey C-tier = Armageddon What can I say? I like my Sci-Fi rock hard. Funny that Neil didn't say anything about Star Wars. I guess he would rate it as low as possible - based on science. But that would cause public outrage, I imagine. Star Wars isn't really about science though, even though it's classified as Sci-Fi. The real meat of it is about relationships & psychology, about the ethics of good vs. evil, and how to find inner truths. Although I guess that's the same as Armageddon, which also didn't really give a damn about the scientific accuracy. It was all about the adventure and romance in that one. Anyway, thank-you for coming to my TED-talk.

I love me some Neil deGrasse, but I think Gravity should be an "A" movie. For crying out loud it was one of only a very few movies that made sure space was QUIET! And really, her bangs? I was constantly looking for boo boos and could find hardly any! Gravity is just a freaking fantastic movie that was done with just TWO actors (well, and Ed Harris' voice) with Sandra Bullock driving the entire movie. That is very, very hard to not only do, but to see anymore that kind of tight, one/two person act.

@Startalk Plus, I'd also compare Independence Day to the 1980's miniseries called "V". that series also uses a virus to defeat the aliens and just like later in Independence Day, the aliens appeared in large circular ships over all of the world's major cities.

What I liked about the "Back to the Future" movies is the demonistration of time-travel-based manufacturing. By the time Marty goes back to the 50's the first time there are already 2 Deloreans there from the other movies. He might have a problem registering all 3 having the same VINs and all...

Thanks for your interesting video. Your viewers might enjoy this video showing under the right conditions, the quantization of a field is easily produced. The ground state energy is induced via Euler’s contain column analysis. Contain column m must come in to play before over buckling or the effect will not work. The system response in a quantized manor when force is applied in the perpendicular direction. Bonding at the points of highest probabilities and maximum duration( peeks and troughs) of the fields/sheet produced a stable structure out of three fields People say I am just plucked guitar strings. I said you can not make structures with vibrating guitar strings or harmonic oscillators. czcams.com/video/wrBsqiE0vG4/video.htmlsi=waT8lY2iX-wJdjO3 At this time I’m my research, I have been trying to describe the “U” shape formed. In the model, “U” shape waves are produced as the loading increases and just before the wave-like function shifts to the next higher energy level. Over-lapping all the waves frequencies together using Fournier Transforms, I understand makes a “U” shape or square wave form. Wondering if Feynman Path Integrals for all possible wave functions could be applicable here? If this model has merit, seeing the sawtooth load verse deflection graph produced could give some real insight in what happened during the quantum jumps. The mechanical description and white paper that goes with the video can be found on my CZcams page. You can reproduce my results using a sheet of Mylar* ( the clear plastic found in school folders. Seeing it first hand is worth the effort!

I believe the original Matrix had the humans used as part of a neural network, not as batteries. The Martian was full of shit, specifically the perchlorate poison potatoes would kill him, also the protein supplements the Chinese sent liquified under g-force and imbalanced the rocket? No protein does this and unless its in huge bulk its mass wouldnt imbalance anything. Also the tarp over the hab would be tight as a drum under HUGE pressure.

Hmm, Neil decides CE3K is only worthy of a D then decides to go off on one about 'presentism'. Odd, as he perhaps hasn't really paid attention to the Devils Tower finale scenes. While no lead scientists are black for sure, there are numerous black actors dotted throughout the larger landing site ensemble as well as several women too. They are clearly there to see if you just pay attention. And that also applies to the chosen red suited astronauts with at least two women and one black man amongst them. So he's well off the mark with that criticism. Let's not also forget that Carl Weathers features earlier in the film and right up front we have the black air traffic controller.

Ex Machina not mentioned but creepy. Aliens just as frightening as Alien. Moon great idea and of course acted superbly. 2001 tops: must have seen it 30 times as a kid. I would like to see the unedited versions of Frank Poole and Dave interacting more. Anything that blows up in space gets a big F, not only because you can’t hear anything in space, but because spectacle is drivel.
