I remember the streetcars being olive green in the ‘50s. Otherwise just as I remembered as a little girl shopping with my Nana.

The billboard ad for a bomb shelter at 3:26 was something to see. Gave me Fallout vibes. Videos like these is the closest thing we have to a time machine.

These were definitely the best times.

In order for us to save us from Climate Change and 6th Mass extinction, we should just go back to this kind of life, simple, easy, low energy, while keeping the modernity of our world only what we need as useful tech ( health mainly ) so we could continue to live peacefully on our planet without overexploiting its ressources and polluting everywhere. Degrowth doesn't mean go back to cave life but can be very enjoyable...

I just played this again and was paying particular attention to the cars, and was amazed and surprised at what I saw at 3:11, the car parked at the curb, just in front of the dark blue truck is a Willys Jeepster, and, judging by the grille, probably a 1949 model. This was my first car, and I loved it, wish I still had it! And what really stands out is that amongst all those Fords, Packards, Dodges, Studebakers, Willys's, Plymouths, Chryslers, etc, there's not one foreign made car

This video, clearly made to show off the best of society in 1935, proves that Copenhagen has been taken great care of. Although much new has been built, the city's heart and soul is perfectly preserved. You can still see just about all of this, and it looks like itself. Of course, it was a very different world back then (less safe and secure, less healthy, and more classist), but still the buildings stand like old mountains, well-renovated and generally free from graffiti. Meanwhile, the comments prove how negative the internet is. Most of them read like they were written by people who haven't visited modern Copenhagen and romanticize the past. You can simply make a google image search to see what modern Copenhagen looks like. As the capitol of one of the world's happiest countries, it is a lovely and flourishing city. Now they wear jeans and t-shirts, flowing dresses, scarves and jackets, ball caps, snickers, suits, ties, and so on. Modern attire is varied and practical. It is moreover a clean and healthy city whose population owns 5 times more bikes than cars. It's not a perfect paradise in 2024, and it wasn't a paradise in 1935 either, but if you come in the summer, make sure to visit Tivoli Gardens, because that is like a little paradise in the center.

I spent a week on business in Copenhagen in the late 1970's, its a beautiful city with lovely people. The people speak very good English as their second language and love the British. The Germans are less welcomed after the treatment of the Danes in WW2.

I think it looked better before being colourised with a terrible video look about it too.

I stayed beside..bridge...in tourist hostel... Ioved every minute of my stay... Danes are lovely ppl...❤❤❤

Having lived in the “Fabulous ‘50s” it looks good in old pictures, but we had problems back in “the good ol’ days”: the Korean War, Battle of Dien Bien Phu, leading up to what would become the war in Viet Nam, the threat of Communism, the Iron Curtain had descended upon Eastern Europe, HUAC, the blacklisting of American citizens “suspected” of being Communists, fears of the use of Atomic weapons, juvenile delinquency (“Blackboard Jungle,” “Rebel Without a Cause”), racial discrimination, Sputnik and let us never forget the scourge of Polio. 75 years from now our great grandkids will fondly reminisce about the turn of the 21st century as “the good ol’ days.”

She's at 2:37. Unfortunately, would have to know if she had any great grand daughters to replicate her appearance as it's shown here.
