    I bought the surge when it was frost release. I used to do loft conversions and compared to my dewalts I had previously thought it was very underpowered and hated it. But when in confined spaces, The quietness was appreciated. However I do feel it was very mis marketed really. It also takes some getting used to, handles differently to standard impacts.

      Yeah, it definitely has its uses and benefits. I just agree there and my big beef that was marketed, I got it for the video with the specific idea that it was going to be very high-powered so you’re shocked when you first use it.

Two questions: 1. since social media is what keeps us all afloat, id love to be able to get a gopro or other camera in there, while the process is going down. Even better option; somehow utilize the camera in the f1 ultra! Do you think its possible? 2. Looks like xtool is making the announcement tomorrow? Will your video come out tomorrow as well?

    Thank you so much. I just started woodworking after retiring from the military and of course not enough space in the garage for the tools so French Cleats are the solution. I am trying to combine the French Cleats with the already 10y old ELFA garage Storage kit we got at the Container Store which helped keeping the garage organized at that time back in 2010 as I had very few basic hand tools (drills, bits, hammers, screws, nails, boxes, containers, etc.); however, once starting woodworking and getting my dad’s tools after he passed away, the current storage is completely overwhelmed. Again, greatly appreciated showing how much you can do w/ French Cleats. I can’t wait to start building them!🙂

  • @karll.masoner6918

    In my experience scissor lifts are never perfectly stable unless you buy really expensive ones. The better option would be to use an interlocking wedge under your two table tops. You would have a small piece protruding from the bottom of each table, but it only needs to be enough to catch the bottom of the opposite table. The wedge is placed on one table and two pieces are fastened on the opposite table so they are tight against the sides of the wedge when the tables are clamped together. Use two of those cam locks like you use on window sashes to lock the tables together. It’s simple and strong and accurate every time. Then I would level the longer table, but it is up to you which table to align with the other. By having the wedge be four parts you can spread it to the width of the out feed side of your planer table so that it is locked in all the way across. I’ve used this to lock together modular systems where a perfectly smooth transition is needed between modules with great success.

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt Před 3 dny

      There are some electric robot fence doors that open up when the robot approaches and has the transmitter tag on it you can buy. If the concern there is the dogs might get out during that action you can program the mower to go through that fence at a specific time (like 4am) when the dogs wouldn’t be out. I should be getting a yuka and was thinking I would film at my inlaws, they have the same setup as you so I will play with some options

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt Před 3 dny

      Great idea, think I’m going with adding a mounting plate to the table so I can clamp them together when in use, should add a lot of stability. Then either outriggers or 2 foldable legs at the infeed if needed for more stability, adjustable shim for incline

  • @danlopretto7222
    @danlopretto7222 Před 4 dny

    Mr. Bitner, I’m late to this video but I have a recommendation for fixing both of your issues: create a vertical extension on the out feed side of the planer that is fitted with the top side of a French cleat. Mount the receiver of the French cleat to the side of your workbench so that when the extension cleat engages the work bench the tops of the workbench and planer bed are coplanar. Then use F-clamps to cinch the top of the extension to the top of the workbench. The clamping will draw the torsion box into alignment perpendicular to the legs of your workbench. Shims may be needed if you workbench’s sides are not 90 to the surface. Finally to use, you jack up the planer and lower it into the cleat and hold it fast to the bench with the clamps, pump slightly on the hydraulic base to make it extra ridged. This should give you both a sturdy and flat connection between the two surfaces. I hope this explanation is clear enough to understand.

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt Před 3 dny

      Oh very cool idea! Yes I totally understand what you’re explaining, very creative! I had already decided to do some sort of “mounting plate” on the table and that could be a great fit!

  • @xxjoetaylorxx

    Buy some Unistrut it comes in 7/8 and 1 1/2 depths take the wheels off the bottom use the Unistrut to bolt into the place where you took the wheels out of then widen the cart by way of the uninstall The Wheels on the Unistrut it will give you a wider base so it doesn't tip over

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt Před 3 dny

      Great idea! So the issue is actually in the thin sizzle metal used to raise the top, a lot of the flex is coming from there, I think one of the items I’m going to do is a mounting plate on the table so it’s clamped to it when use and that will add a ton of stability and the additional outriggers if needed

    Is there really a big difference between 40W and 20W when it comes to engraving? From the website, it seems that 40W should only be used when cutting thick material.Would you Review Acmer P3, it's dual lasers seem to engrave better.

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt Před 5 dny

      So 20w is better for engraving as it has a smaller point when engraving (more water out of the hose the bigger the water stream etc) when compared to a 40w. The 40w can cut deeper however and because it can remove more material in one pass it’s faster, for example you might get the same engrave from 50% power, 400 speed on the 20watt you get from 25% power 600 speed on the 40w, so lower power and faster speed.

    Or shim planer for your locating or layout. At least do it temp to figure out layout. Doesn’t really hurt Tp try a cheap thing

      Yep! Shining the planer box, adding a mounting plate to the table to clamp it down when in use to prevent most of the motion

    I don't have either of these, but my thought is wouldn't the higher torque model make less noise if only used to the 450 inch pounds the surge makes? Maybe not as low but comparing both at full power when one makes over 4 times the power it would make sense it would be louder without even considering the different mechanisms used to make that power.

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt Před 7 dny

      Well, one way to think about it is if you take something like a hammer, a hard surface and bang on a pipe really loud or even really lightly that noise is going to travel far away, so the surge removes the really loud hammer action and replaces it with a fluid filled Drop if that makes sense to create a similar pushing mechanism, so that noise isn’t gonna travel as far. In the end, you could always just use a drill for the same function and not have to worry about the noise.

    That's why I use the OG Luba 5000, because the omni wheels suck, and all of my garden zones are slopes, so the OG Luba has ZERO problems with them even mowing length-wise. It never slides and does a superb job for a year now.

    Thanks for the detailed review. I have been looking at this robotic mower for our large hilly property for some time. The Luba 2 comes closest to covering our requirements, however... the accuracy (and basic function) of these mowers is dependent on satellite visibility and radio transmission for base station and mower. The density of tree canopy can easily impact signal, as can reflection of signal off hard surface - such as walls etc. Are you fortunate to have full sky visibility, with minimal interference from structures and trees, or are there obstacles on your property? The only thing holding us back is the level of sky visibility required, as we have a hill to the west, and also have many trees, though canopy is relatively thin. Those are the only concerns with this machine, otherwise the Luba2s look like an excellent product.

      So my property is wooded on the back and sides, with 150ft trees. With that I was convinced that I was going to need to put the rtk at the top of the roof. To my surprise i didn’t. When your in the software you can live view how many satellites the machine currently is connected with, if it’s relying on the vision, etc. When it’s near some of the big trees, especially mowing underneath them, it’s relying more on its vision then the RTK. I think this is come a long way In a short time software wise. The Luba 1 didn’t have the vision so they Saw that satellite disconnection issue and implemented the vision to take over when in a position that the stale was blocked. I would say I can see open sky on 50% of the lawn and then 25% there is some cover and then 25% heavier cover

      @@BitnerBuilt That is very positive, thanks for the details. Seeing your response - and another owners Luba 2 vs Luba 1 experience with sat/radio signal on YT, it seems well worth a try. We only want to maintain an acre around our house while we are away, so that will be mainly away from thick canopy, and a 5000 should be sufficient, will test one when we return. We have a paid try before you buy option from a local reseller in AU, cheap insurance!

      @BitnerBuilt Před 5 dny

      @@mrcurlywhirly1671 oh wow that’s great you can try that! My advice would definitely be to take your time when doing the mapping for the first time and break it up into different sections even if you don’t need to that way if you encounter any issues and need to remap that area, your remapping, a much smaller space rather than walking around your entire property one more time. Also, don’t make the mistake. I did make sure that you mow the lawn low and clean before you start and this machine will then maintain that perfect condition going forward. Let me know how it works out for you!

    How is the sealing in the RTK base station? Some people have commented its bound to get water in with heavy rains. Whats your take on that? Does it seems like a problem spot.

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt Před 8 dny

      The sealing is great, not sure why anyone would say that (unless it was an older model) the model I have feels very robust and all of the connections are on the bottom with heavy waterproofing gaskets. I have zero waterproofing concerns with that. I know from one of my businesses how the sun can really degrade non UV rated plastics and rubber, with all of the points of failure on the bottom, shielded from the sun, I don’t see any issues here

    "Sometimes, your experiment doesn't work..." Truer words were never spoken, and something I tell my grad students ALL the time. More constructively, I wonder if rotating the planner ninety degrees on the jack would improve stability at all; I have my doubts, but I think it's worth a try as long as it would not require an excessive amount of modification to the substructure. The second thing I am wondering about is if you could add some sort of stabilizing feet to the sides to absorb some of the rocking (think the feet on a bucket truck that are used when the cherry picker is extended). Those are my two immediate thoughts on how you might modify the existing jack rather than resorting to a new product outright. Best of luck!

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt Před 8 dny

      Thanks! Rotating it is definitely worth a try, I think my solution I will be trying is adding a mounting plate to the assembly table so it will “attach” giving it a lot of stability, by rotating it would put the unstable direction towards the table and the plate would then fix that! Additionally shimming the box to match the table and if needed two foldable stabilizer legs

    I have been looking at robot mowers for last couple of weeks and stumbled on your video. Very thorough video. The one thing that I wonder about is what happens when it breaks...I assume the local mower guy wouldn't know how to repair...but I could be wrong. I might have missed it...but big of an area is your lawn?

    • @BitnerBuilt
      @BitnerBuilt Před 8 dny

      So you are able to mail it to a Mammotion repair center if it required a serious repair. I just looking at the machine and failure points other than the motor itself, I think many things will be user replaceable. My property is a half acre.

    I disagree, cheap staff will not attract the clients you want, especially epoxy staff that many people already do. Look around at competition, focus on items that cost 2000, you can add smaller things but it will not be leading product, just additional item
