    Think I would still get beat up at 600cfs

      Things would be much slower at that level. If you took your time and scouted I am sure you could pick your way down

      Thanks. I was using the river gauge at East Georgia, VT. I couldn't find one closer to this section of the river.

    Was it dangerous I was thinking about doing it but I heard people died on it

    • @JohnMoorekayak

      I am sure people have passed away on this section. The whole river bed is a jumble of rocks full of sieves. It is a great whitewater run except for the hazards.

  • @StupidStuffProductions

    As always great video. Do you think that you could fit a cat boat down there?

    Your videos are so fun to watch. I didn't know there was an East Fork of the Salmon until I was just studying my Sawtooth's/Whiteclouds topo map. Would this be similar to the North Fork Payette? Unreal!

    • @JohnMoorekayak
      @JohnMoorekayak Před rokem

      Thanks. Yeah it is big pushy fast water with long rapids. Flight simulator is a long tough rapid. Especially at higher flows than this. I would say this is easier than the north fork overall

    can u run it in a inner tube

    • @JohnMoorekayak
      @JohnMoorekayak Před rokem

      This flow would be too high. I really wouldn't want to inner tube it at any love. Lots of sieves and undercuts to go into.

    I worked at Quake Lake 20 years ago and more and I always… always imagined what that would be like. Whoa! As scary as I imagined and seriously fast water with danger…danger…danger! What a run!

      Thanks. This was my first time there. I was surprised at how fast and sangerous the run felt. The person I was with said not to flip over or swim.

  • @samuellowe-anker6913

    Howdy! Im hoping to ease into some creek boating this year. Looking to purchase a creek-boat this spring. As someone who's had a lot of experience on SW MT creeks, do you have any suggestions in what features to lean toward or avoid? Im in a ripper L at 6'3" 200lbs and love how it handles Gallatin and bear trap runs. I Like the look of the scorch but wonder if the edges would get too caught up on rocks. Should I consider something with a little less edge, maybe even a displacement hull? Cheers!

    • @JohnMoorekayak
      @JohnMoorekayak Před rokem

      Hey! I personally like displacement hulls for creeking. I feel a displacement hull makes for softer landings when boofing or running waterfalls. I do have lots of friends that I run creeks with that use the 9r2 as their creek boat. I am from West Virginia. I made a trip to Montana in 2019, I think, when I caught all of these runs. In my opinion Jackson has the best warranty right now on kayaks. I think Jackson Kayaks are currently cheaper than everyone else's. The Gnarvana looks like a great kayak. I haven't paddled one yet but have seen plenty of other people make it look great. It has plenty of rocker and skips over stuff well. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
