Or you can just buy the proper tool. There's a tool specifically made just for clamps in tight spaces. Allowing the clamp to just smack that plastic could cause it to crack if the plastic is brittle. Just search up hose clamp pliers

Man everyone has that damn container full of zip ties. I wish I would have known this before busting up my knuckles

I absolutely hate that style of hose clamps and usually change them out. I do it for free for the customers that I know I’ll be dealing with again just to save myself a headache.😂

You could just buy some cable actuated hose clamp pliers, but I do like this hack. With some of the larger spring clamps, the unsprung tabs are actually too far apart to get channel locks on them.

Long needlenose works too but nice clip 👍🏾👍🏾

Ooh, hope you're zip tie doesn't slip. I always use 6" vice grips for this job.

I’m impressed that he was able to keep ahold of the clamp with the channel locks instead of the clamp popping out and flying across the driveway and getting lost in the bushes, where he couldn’t find it after searching for 30 minutes and then it got too dark, all while his wife kept calling him to come in for dinner while he’s in the middle of a project that will only take 2 minutes.

Just buy a band clamp for a couple bucks... They hold 1000 times better and are easy to put right on there.
