I don't know where the quotations are taken from. E.g. After the attack on Mr Weasley Ginny says to Harry that she is the only person who was possessed by Voldemort and therefore she knows what it feels like, Harry says: I forgot. But in the book Ginny does not reply: "Congratulations." She says: "Lucky you", which clearly indicates she had not (could not) forget it.

Sorry that I'm adding your comment count, but this is an almost completely flawed list (only agree with #2).(1) Flitch isn't a house elf, he applied for the position. He wanted it. With magical parents this was a way for him to stay in touch with the wizarding world. He knew what he was getting into. (2) ok, far point (3) Ineffective teachers... well Trelawney has a stated reason why she was there. BInns while certainly not winning any teaching awards, is competent and defiantly dedicated - he stayed after he died. And the subject material isn't changing. DADA professors, all have a plot reason to be there & the curse on the position. No one would have done well in that position, until after Voldemort's death (which they did). (4) Parental involvement. This isn't an American PTA, this is a British boarding school. (5) House system, another artifact of British boarding schools and the book does mention there are plenty of counter-examples (6) Dumbledore the worst? Dippet ran the school while Tom Riddle was there learning his craft, opening the chamber of secrets & learning to make horcruxes. Umbridge and Snape certainly didn't do any better. (7) Ministery oversight, yes government oversight of it's school is justified. But in this case a corrupt Ministery was wrongly interfering the normal operations.

Where did you take the quotes from the books, since they are like paraphrases and not direct quotes from the books? I have the British version, but 1. I don't think the American version has been so thoroughly rewritten 2. You quote from "Harry Potter and the PHILOSOPHER'S stone", which means you quoted the original British version.

I think the hiring or Flitch isn't so cruel as the house elves do the main upkeep of the castle. I believe the purpose of hiring a squib is to teach equality. It was only unfortunate that flinch was just an awful person

you lost me when you said Dumbledore awarded the points at the end of book 1 out of thin air. he gave those points to students that just prevented the return of Voldemort by completing a set of deadly challenges. if that doesn't warrant some points nothing ever will. also: it's a children's book, don't take it so damn seriously.

Not only that, but the sword is full of unique properties that will reflect dark magic and reject anything that can harm it, because it is goblin made. The sword protects itself in various ways, as it only takes on things that can make it stronger.

i love the books. got kids reading and off the video games and whatever else. movies were ok. not as good as the books. but still enjoyable. i enjoy the discussions of the material and the theories which is why i watch channels like this. but its still a kids story. enjoy it for what it is.

last one you messed up a bit Snape only heard half of the prophecy he was caught spying; because voldy somehow learned he only got half the prophecy. In Order of the Phoenix he sent his death eaters to get the prophecy so he good get the full prophecy

NO! Percy was an egotistical jerk who constantly tooted his own horn practically every day. It's like having a friend go on and on about themselves until you get sick and tired of hearing it. Harry was never disrespectful of Percy, because he didn't have to live with him for more than a few weeks at a time. He didn't have to endure as much as his brothers (and Ginny) as he coincidentally spent lots of time in his room whenever Harry was visiting. While I probably wouldn't have liked him more, I would have considered Percy a much more interesting character if he'd been sorted into Slytherin. It would have been fun to watch him educate his family on the value of Slytherin attributes, and as more details were learned, reminded them that Slytherins didn't corner the market on producing bad wizards.
