you lost me when you said Dumbledore awarded the points at the end of book 1 out of thin air. he gave those points to students that just prevented the return of Voldemort by completing a set of deadly challenges. if that doesn't warrant some points nothing ever will. also: it's a children's book, don't take it so damn seriously.
It is an outrage that Dumbledore made Harry compete in the Triwizard Tournament
i love the books. got kids reading and off the video games and whatever else. movies were ok. not as good as the books. but still enjoyable. i enjoy the discussions of the material and the theories which is why i watch channels like this. but its still a kids story. enjoy it for what it is.
I think the hiring or Flitch isn't so cruel as the house elves do the main upkeep of the castle. I believe the purpose of hiring a squib is to teach equality. It was only unfortunate that flinch was just an awful person
Yeah, it’s much more cruel to let Filch be unemployed. He must have applied for the job so he wanted to work in the Wizarding World instead of the Muggle community.

One time Horace Slughorn commented that he forgot to lock the front doors.
"I'll be reporting that man. He cares more about litter than proper security."
Yeah he felt like crap for having something he couldn't do thrown in his face all the time
I disagree with point 7. The problem is that Voldemort is back in power and worsens the students' ability to defend. Point 6: Since when were the other headmasters any better (Umbridge and Snape)?
3. Ineffective teachers, so the dark art position was cursed by voldemort, trelawny took a small bit of their ancestor's power for predictions, and most teachers were there because Dumbledore needed their help to protect harry. Snape teaches harry un the 6th book and everything was quite well planned for everyone to vanquish voldemort. And... omg I'll write this simply after.
Sorry that I'm adding your comment count, but this is an almost completely flawed list (only agree with #2).(1) Flitch isn't a house elf, he applied for the position. He wanted it. With magical parents this was a way for him to stay in touch with the wizarding world. He knew what he was getting into. (2) ok, far point (3) Ineffective teachers... well Trelawney has a stated reason why she was there. BInns while certainly not winning any teaching awards, is competent and defiantly dedicated - he stayed after he died. And the subject material isn't changing. DADA professors, all have a plot reason to be there & the curse on the position. No one would have done well in that position, until after Voldemort's death (which they did). (4) Parental involvement. This isn't an American PTA, this is a British boarding school. (5) House system, another artifact of British boarding schools and the book does mention there are plenty of counter-examples (6) Dumbledore the worst? Dippet ran the school while Tom Riddle was there learning his craft, opening the chamber of secrets & learning to make horcruxes. Umbridge and Snape certainly didn't do any better. (7) Ministery oversight, yes government oversight of it's school is justified. But in this case a corrupt Ministery was wrongly interfering the normal operations.
i agree with No. 5, for sure.
1. Well, that's kind of the idea, now isn't it? Rowling's disability rep is exquisitely bad, relegating us to jokes and manual labourers, and/or battered women in the case of Merope Gaunt.
2. Well yeah, since individual professors can make individual choices on how many points to grant. They should have some kind of tier system, like "answer a question right, +5 points" or "break a minor rule, -5 points, but -20 for a major rule," that kind of thing. And then with Quidditch, your house should earn the same number of house points that your team scored in goals, WIN OR LOSE. Otherwise, eh, so much of this story is contrived on a whim.
3. No really? You know it's bad when one of the objectively "best" teachers they had in terms of what he actually taught them was a Death Eater in disguise. Uh, spoilers for book four, haha.
4. Nooooooooooooooooo, ya think? Safety regulations who? Ugh.
5. Yeah. "If we think you're evil, into Slytherin ya go!"
6. See point four.
7. if anything, they didn't intervene enough. I don't LIKE Umbridge, and duh, you're not supposed to, and she did torment the kids, but so did Snape, and he was on for a hot minute without Dumbledore doing anything about him, despite KNOWING what he got up to. I the Ministry had been able to keep some kind of middle ground, like a superintendent coming in for a monthly inspection, that kind of thing, then it would have been a better and safer environment for the kids.
I love magic
U right
Harry Potter should’ve been in the chamber of secrets 🤫
🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁 THE LION WAS HERE 🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁 No. 107
Harry Potter is actually dead.... isn't he? He was bitten by a basilisk in The Chamber of Secrets (A well-known way to destroy horcruxes), so when He who must not be named kills him in the forest...... dead.
This guy doesn't know the lore behind harry potter. DON'T WATCH OR GO PUKE TO JELLY BEANS...
never liked Snape and Dumbledore.
Most of this is rubbish.
