I think you should not have defined a charge as any press of the action button. The other playable characters don't charge so it seems wrong to classify their action button uses as charges simply because they are on the same button.

So this is great, it's about as far as I made it (i gave up after soft locking in SJ act1's boss) Some things I found out though: The l and r buttons can activate the emerald powers wheel. This means you don't actually need the right stick, and a definitive no horizontal movement control scheme is doable. If you get stuck on the vines, the timing for selecting bullet is strict as you can't mash L too quickly. You have to start tapping it as knuckles reaches the middle of the vine, and pray it activates before he grabs back on. With a big enough spin dash, Knuckles can do the fish chase at the end of BI Zone act1 on his own. You just need to conserve your momentum with rolls and jumps. Switching to sonic is far more convenient however! If you haven't already, I would try mapping out the remaining levels using a completed save. There may not be walls in the world map, but you can still use L and R to select a stage after you click on it. Hope this helps!

Great video, some solid troubleshooting on display! Shame that Seashell and Bentley forced a few charge inputs... Regarding 12:42 you can still access the second egg, earlier in the level you can climb up the temple steps and glide across to the egg on the island. From your position by Jasper, it's technically possible to wallglide over the gap too, though that is more of a speedrunning technique. I'd be curious to know what Max% Chargeless is, might have to give it a go some time!

So it isn't possible then because the super dive attack is just a dive attack with a jump at the end. The launch pads cannot be activated without jumping (pressing the x button). Essentially this challenge is can you beat the game without pressing the jump button. The answer is no.
