Looking for someone to restore my 67 Mk2. It's the 2nd car I ever bought back in the mid 70's. I'm 71 years old and it has been sitting for 20 years. Before I'm gone I'd love to see it back on the road. It deserves it.

Those wheels and lugs luuk really nice. I have an all-black Nissan 370z on whic I've just upgraded the wheels to a set of black forged magnesium monoblock wheels from Litespeed Racing. The wheels are each about 9 lbs lighter than the stock forged aluminum ones. I went with a set of black anodized aluminum lug nuts to replace the steel ones. I'm greasing the stud threads and flange bases of the nut heads with antiseize compound, along with the hub lip. Like you, I'm reducing the tightening torque by about 30% to compensate for the reduction in frictional torque in the threads and nut flange. In the future I plan to replace the all-ateel OEM rotors with some two-piece aluminum hat ones.

You could save a lot more weight if you trained a race horse jockey to drive the race car.

Wrong. Unsprung weight is weight ur suspension does not support. Ur exhaust, nope, back seat nope. Wheels and lugs yes.

I just saw you guys headed towards Branson from Springfield. I love your airstreams. If you guys are hanging out in Branson for a few days and you feel like having a 74 year old visitor one evening I'm sure my dad would love to come by. He and my mom loved to go camping in their fifth wheel. She just passed away over the summer and I know he's bored.

I agree that every little ounce counts when you are on the track. There is another way to cut down on weight: join a gym and lose 10 lbs. You'll feel better, be a better and more nimble driver. And you won't need to go titanium (although you still could, of course) . This comment is not for the content creator: you, sir, are not fat like the rest of America 🙂

What size of lock is it? 5/8?

How about titanium wheel studs to go with the lug nuts.

Lug nuts with never seize only need to be torqued to 80% of the dry thread specified torque . You can stretch and therefore weaken studs otherwise . Ask an engineer or consult a bolt manufacturer

Go one step further. Since the face of the lock faces up it’s susceptible to water ect. Could you put on a plastic cap to snap on over the lock.

Hey friend! The oil consumption mainly deals with how well you break in the new motor from factory. You have to rev it out to 3k rpm in 1-3 gear and let off the throttle and coast for a number of times for the 1st 200-300 miles whenever you can. That helps the new motor with its piston rings sit a lot better. People don’t do that and granny these cars for the 1st 1500 miles and wonder why after changing the oil at that time, the car would burn a quart in 1000 miles after the change. It is normal but breaking in the motor properly is what helps that to not happen.

What was the actual weight of 20 steel OEM lugs nuts and the total weight of 20 Ti lug nuts? Also, if every ounce counts, why didn't you use shorter Ti lug nuts? Thank you.

Don't you think the anti-seize will change the toque specs? I was told by more than one pro auto tech that it will,

bought the grates from etrailer; arrived in only 4 days. didn't fit my dometic CU-434, they were a little to wide for my build (converted Sprinter). Okay, got my belt sander out and ground off ~1/32 from each side and I still had to remove the screws. Fits now! I'm going to grind off a little more to make removing for cleaning easier, so I never have to remove the screws to get in/out.
