Our Big Catch 🎣 4th of July Family Day
We had such a fun, low key Fourth of July. We ate a delicious breakfast, went fishing, rested up a bit and then had an early dinner out. So many of our neighbors were lighting fireworks so we watched them from our driveway! So thankful for this time spent with my people.

We had several broody hens on our homestead this season but this particular mama was adamant about sitting on her clutch of eggs. In fact, as she was committed to her nest, a couple other hens would drop by, lay their egg in front of her, and then she would scoop the egg underneath her to be incubated. I am flabbergasted that you take care of a homestead, home school your children, produce micro-bakery baked goods, run your own business, etc. and still have time to create beautifully edited content to share it all with us. Amazing! If I lived near where your baked goods were sold (by the look of the surroundings at your location, I’m likely 1000+ miles away), I’d definitely make a special trip to buy some. Would you mind sharing your favorite sour dough starter recipe? I love making bread (old school, no bread machine for me). I absolutely love sourdough bread but I have shied away from making sourdough because of the starter. I looked into it once, years ago, but felt intimidated the by the process, I think (whatever it was that I read at the time & I couldn’t even tell you now what it was other than possibly too complicated?🥴)? I think that I looked into store bought starter back then but, if I remember correctly, it didn’t seem easier. Anyway, I’m getting too old to be intimidated by such things so when I came across your page, it sparked a renewed interest and I thought I would ask. Regardless, thank you for sharing!!
