🐥 Mother Hen Hatches Her Own Chicks 🐥

We had several broody hens on our homestead this season but this particular mama was adamant about sitting on her clutch of eggs. In fact, as she was committed to her nest, a couple other hens would drop by, lay their egg in front of her, and then she would scoop the egg underneath her to be incubated. This mama hen became the community incubator and she did a great job! You’ll see tannish-pink and light blue eggs that she’s hatching - those are from the other hens. ☺️ Other hens, our rooster and even our turkey would occasionally stop by to see what this mama hen was up to, and she would fluff up her feathers to warn them about being too close. Since the eggs weren’t laid all at once, the chicks have been hatching sporadically throughout the week. They’re SO cute, healthy and mama hen is doing a great job taking care of them!
