Nice one John, I can't wait to get to that part of the world. Cheers Steve
Well it will be worth the wait when you get there.
You missed plenty of good spots towing a van. There is some spectacular coastal scenery along the west side. I reckon the Eyre Peninsula is one of the best kept secrets in Australia...shhhhhhhhhh!
Yer Ive heard a lot of people say its a best kept secret and the bits I seen I thought would be a nice place to live. Thanks for watching
The birds like ya on my property 😂😂😂
Yer with all the trees around they had to sit next to me. Oh well no damage and sort of funny. Thanks for watching
Nice one John. Cheers Steve
Thanks mate and thanks for watching
Great series, really enjoyed coming along for the ride :)
Thanks mate, glad you came along. The best is yet to come
You know it is a nice relaxed trip when you can stop for the day at lunch time :) We stayed at that caravan park in Whyalla in 2002 after spending a couple of weeks free camping out at Fitzgerald Bay. Despite being the middle of winter we took the boat out and did well, getting crabs, squid, garfish, flounder and whiting. Nice area to explore especially down the Eyre Peninsula. One of the many places I would love to get back to.
That was one of the requirements for this trip. No timetable. Yer I believe that area is a big fishing ground. Thanks for watching
Hola Jhon,desde Venezuela.
Gday mate, Thanks for watching
Yes the world is truly amazing. Thanks for watching
Don't think i could live there, too hot & flies would drive me insane
Yer one of those nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. And yes, the flies got pretty intents. Thanks for watching
Good job buddy
Why thank you kind sir. Thanks for watching
Coober pedy is 1182 people
See any Mad Max 3 landmarks? Next year will be the 40th anniversary, might be worth rebuilding the Thunderdome (if it wasn't on a NSW set)
Na didn't see anything obvious out there. Thanks for watching
Cobber Pedy is a pretty interesting place. I think we stopped in for a couple of nights and had a look around but still missed a lot of the underground stuff. No wonder they filmed Mad Max out there, perfect desolation LOL
It is a must see place. I glad I went
You are right about it being another world. That spaceship in town and the weird landscape just out of town feature in the science fiction movie "Pitch Black".
Thanks for watching
Nice one John, I must get to Woomera, I can't stand rubbish but hey what can ya do? Cheers Steve
Yer I got a bit fired up about the rubbish. Not like me. Woomera is worth going to even if its just to tick it of the list.
I know we have been to Woomera but for wahtever reason we only took one photot and nothing else. Good to get a look at what is there because I have totally forgotten it. Being on the road full time was the best thing we ever did. 5 years touring Australia gave us memories that staying put in suburbia never could. I could not do it now so I am so glad we did it when we had the chance. Len Beadell made some films too that I think can be found on YT.
WOW 5 years on the road, you lucky bugger. I would love to do that. Fact is you will never see everything so have to be happy with what you did see. Ill have to look for those movies with Len.
Now this is a good review. No BS involved and legitimate testing
Thanks mate glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
I was in the Air Training Corps in 7th flight at Claremont. I also had the amazing experience of flying in the Iroquois at Pearce. Blew my mind and inspired me greatly.
It was a great experience that cadets these days probably don't get the chance to do, including the flight in the DC3. Thanks for watching
Nice one John, I too love naturally occurring steps lol. I love the Flinders, haven't been there since 2018. Can't wait to go back. Cheers Steve
Yer its a place I would like to go back to again and see some more. Thanks for watching
Thanks John we too have just returned to Perth after a trip into the Flinders Ranges and we also stayed at Wilpena and also got confused trying to find our van site. A few clear signs would have helped. It was nice there with all the birds and animals that came around. We explored into the Flinders driving north from there and did some of the long day drives off that road and what a epic drive and views through there. We also stayed at Rawnsley Station and Mount Little Station and explored the Flinders on their properties. Mount Little gives you a folder and map to keep you busy exploring for about 5 hours. Was well worth going to the Flinders it was beautiful. On your way home if you have not been drop into Koonalda Homestead and the Madura Caves for a night camp.
LOL I watched a lot of people going around in circles trying to find their site and so many other people have said the same thing. I want to go back and stay in the places you mentioned and explore more. I have plans to go back and explore the nullabour and do part of the old eyre high. Thanks for watching
What jumper leads are you using? often they are only rated at 400amps meaning the car wont be receiving the full current
I cant believe so many people are getting hung up on the jumper leads. Firstly I can start a truck on those leads, but that's not the point. The battery is actually stuffed. I know that, it was for demonstration only because I didn't want to take the good battery out of the car. This was explained in the video. But if there is resistance in the jumper leads then that would of effected the jump pack also, but yet it started anyway. I do appreciate your comments and for watching. I hope this clarifies a little bit
Cool, I think I saw Hahndorf there, hope so, I loved that place, went there many times.
Yep good spotting. We did go to Hahndorf. I have always wanted to go there since I was a teenager.
Nice one John. Cheers Steve
Subacribed. Finally a REAL decent review from a down to earth bloke
Well thanks mate. I appreciate your comment. Im hoping one day to get my hands on the next size down to try out. Thanks for the sub and watching.
We were in S.A. for quite a few months but never got to look around that area. Great to see what is there, looking forward to the museum and town video too :)
it is a really nice looking town and the museum didn't disappoint. well it did in one way, there don't do train trips anymore. Thanks for watching
Nungarin… not Nangarin
was that a typo somewhere?
@@ontheroadwithjohn you pronounced it Nangarin and it also says it on the map earlier on.
@@silentdogfart4892 oh ok yer I had a lot of trouble working out how to say it at the start. Thanks
thanks for the review john, just purchased 2 of these on special for only $170 each. Happy days..
no problem . Mine is still going strong after all this time. Thanks for watching
Nice one John. Cheers Steve
Loved the Murray River, so many fascinating places to explore. YAY! great to see the Proud Mary is still running on the river. Not as impressive as the biggest river boat but we really enjoyed our cruise up the river on her. They used to have a fake paddle wheel on the back, looks like they got rid of that.
Yer I agree I could spend a lot of time around the murray river. I was disappointed to hear that just about every boat on the river uses diesel engines now. And even a fake wheel is better than no wheel. Thanks for watching
Nice one John, those caves are good. Kaz and I went to one and figured we'd do a different one next time we're in the area. Cheers Steve
Yer if I had the time I might of done a couple more, but not the bat one..... lol
So, you wanted emergency accommodation and then winge about it. Good one.
Did you listen to the video. i was charged extra for a room i didn't need. if you think that's ok them you can send me the $200 i paid for nothing
I loved South Australia, there are so many old buildings to explore and heaps have been preserved. We stayed in Eden Valley for a while and got to explore a lot of little towns out around the Murray and of ciurse the Barossa as it was just over the hills. Hope to get back one day but not really likely. The old riverboats are amazing. I remember being camped near Renmark and just watching them crusing past us. We did an overnight trip on The Pround Mary, not sure if that is still running or not but it was really worth while. Really loving this series, bringing back so many memories.
Well hangout for next week, your going to get a warm and fuzzy feeling
Nice one John, Kaz and I swam at Little Blue Lake, in summer 37° outside 10° in the water lol, no people remains at that time. Cheers Steve
Yes I remember that video, I thought you were nuts then too. Water has to be 30 before I stick a toe in to see if its warm enough. Glad I didn't stick a finger in after seeing what people were doing. Some people are really F#$^%
I don't remember much about Mt. Gambier except the crater lakes. A pity back then I was using film based stills cameras and didn't take many photos. Seems as though I took nothing there at all for some reason. I think we just passed through in 2001 on our way out to the Great Ocean Road. Good to see a bit more of the place.
Ill tell you a secret, I could easily live there. I just got to get used to the cold. And it wasn't winter yet....
Nice one John, Love that area. Cheers Steve
yer lots of great camps too
How are you? Have you received my email? I am waiting for your reply Thank you
I love South Australia. So many people dismiss it but we spent about 9 months in Adelaide and had a good chance to explore lots of different areas. The Adelaide hills are terriffic and there is so much more to SA than most people seem to know. A pity you didn't explore the Eyre a bit more because of the van. We loved it there and if you go down those unseald roads you would find awesome places.
The little round 12v plugs are not that commmon but they are quite useful for some applications. Often used to hook up LED lights etc.
That little plug (the yellow one) is often used for batteries for remote control planes etc. I had LiPo batteries that use that plug to charge up for the old Phantom 1 drone. I haven't seen them on much else though.
I thought it seemed a little strange to have there. I haven't seen anything like it on anything else
$3k to boil a kettle seems a bit excessive though LOL I can see it cound possibly be useful for induction cooking and using a coffee brewer etc but for the dough I think I will stick to gas.
lol Thats what I thought to but I got good toast out of it.
Ah, i can finally sit down and catch up with all the videos I have missed while we were on the road. I recently bought one of these things from Aldi (yeah I know Aldi again LOL) and all I have done with it so far is charge it up and stick it in the shed. I don't even know yet what I will use it for. The iTech one certainly has a lot of connections but it looks very heavy from the way you were moving it. Looked at the price of that one and fell off my chair, wow not cheap at all. I got the Aldi one because it was $349 but it is only 600w so much less power and a much smaller battery at 16ah so the itech is 10x the power without being 10x the price. I think I will end up using mostly as a charging station for cameras and phones.
Yes it was heavier than I thought it would be. I had it away with me in SA and was handy for toast. It was also good to know that if my house batteries stopped working I could plug the freezer into it while fixing the batteries. Maybe a smaller one might be more appealing.
Started the Nissan like it needs needs glowing beforehand,,, otherwise there's an issue with fuel or compression😮
Nice one John, You could easily make a full video on the national motor museum, it took up a chunk of mine lol. Cheers Steve
Yer will be later. These videos are just highlights while im on the road When I get home ill do full videos on a number of places. Thanks for watching
Why do you need a caravan that size ? Have you not heard less is more ?
what that got to do with you. move on
Did I hear you say that you went from south of Coolgardie to over the border in the one day?
Gday, yes thats right. We stoped about 30ks just over the border. You also loose 1 1/2 hours becoause of a time change. Thanks for watching
Nice one John, Cheers Steve
Thanks mate I hope it will be.
Thanks heading to SA ourselves in a week.
Its been a great trip so far, Im sure you will enjoy it. Thanks for watching
It looks like a good unit mate. Cheers Steve
yer it is but I dont think I would buy one just because I dont have a lot of use for it
Thanks for the simple review (way to go Pat)...Have seen this one at the various shows and along with all the others being churned out by just about anyone who thinks they can marry a battery and inverter in a box. Not having anderson sockets is a mistake by Itech. Maybe they will sort that out. These will become bigger and hopefully more efficient for domestic use during power outages...Some Chinese boxes are around the 80kg mark and come on a trolley for household use.
Ill pass on your thanks to Pat. Thanks for watching
Nice promo for the park. We stayed at the RV rest area by the old church when we were int town but the caravan parks looks good.
That was our first option but others in my group were ready to have a shower and relax in a park
