A buddy worked at a medium-sized company in the industrial part of a large city that tested all kinds of water/gas pipes in high-pressure failure tests. He was green, knew next to nothing, and a year later he was efficient and good at his job, chipped in when some level of manager was out on stress leave, etc. He was given a lower than inflation raise. He told them it was ridiculous and an insult. They either pretended not to understand, or considering the size of the company and people there they might have been that ignorant. Anyway. To wax philosophically (ish)... this kind of stuff has been talked about for millennia. Beholden to nature/work...having to do something to get the basics. Everyone has had to work or make some sort of decisions or do something in order to get the necessities, unless they were in a coma and taken care of or something. If you don't like modern work, try living in the wilderness. You don't work for an hour or two in the wilderness and have a set of pants or whatever your normal pay might be able to buy you. You have frustration, pain, fear, apprehension, and no new set of pants, but hopefully have a fire and a sad level of shelter. In the modern world, how much does it cost for a lighter?

Im almost 39 but look like Im in my 20s

Im 29 and regularly get mistaken for someone younger. Like the guy in this video who is 34 looks 15 years older than me not 5! Ive started to say "nah bro I remember when floppy discs were a thing im older than you think". It might be partly genetics, my Dad still looks healthy at 60 and my Grandfather looks much better than most other 82 year olds (and with a full head of hair so at least I dont have to worry about that lol). He is still taking care of himself, just this last month he started dieting so he can fit into his tuxedo for a cruise he is taking my Grandma on. He has eaten healthy and been active his whole life. He rarely goes out to eat, even getting fastfood is like a luxury for him. And there lies the lesson! I really think it comes back to ounce-of-prevention-is-better-than-a-pound-of-cure. And with health that always goes back to diet and exercise and the little choices you make everyday. The way I see people in my generation and younger eat makes me shake my head. Human beings did not evolve or meant to eat this much ultra-processed pre-packaged garbage. And your average young person eats this crap several times a week. I havent been to a fastfood place in like 6 months. Not just fast food restaurants, I mean like premade boxed meals at your super market too. Just look at the essay long ingredient lists on these freakin things man! Your body is not breaking down those preservatives or meant to eat that much salt and sugar derivatives in one serving. If you eat this stuff more than a handful of times a week you need a complete diet overhaul.

The beautiful thing about young people being ageist, is they will get old too, if they are lucky. I was 15 once. When I was 15, I was just as 15 as a 15 year old is now, I thought I would always be young, now Im 45. But with age comes experience and wisdom, which is more valuable than youth. Even though life losses its youthful shine as you age, cause youve seen it all before.
