Do the mice and rodents do damage when the cats are indoors at night?
We haven’t noticed much with the mice, but we are having an issue with rats. I’m my experience cats don’t handle rats well as they are fairly big and bite them back. So I’ve been trying to trap them but they are hard to kill as they’re very intelligent.
You're so skillful.. everything built was amazing.. farming livestock seems perfect.. watching from glecious tv channel your new friend
Fozzy eats good
You doin a great job mate !
Hi new to channel and it’s amazing I’m so sorry for your loss
Bunny Mama's eye is goopy.
Awe..................
We have khakis too! What organic food have you found for them? (I'm in Canada too!) The duck parade is so darn adorable!!
I usually give em Rolling Acres poultry layer feed from Peavey Mart
7:00 we were always told roosters were a bad idea, people said they were mean and would abuse the hens… 100% false. We added a rooster and our little flock has never been happier! He’s a teddy bear and is perfectly friendly to us, he takes really good care of the hens, he won’t let squabbles get out of hand and he won’t let the smaller ones get picked on too bad. He’s also VERY protective and lets everyone know when they need to run under the bushes while he puffs up and stomps his feet to scare off whatever showed up! He even tore the heck out of the neighbors German shepherd when it got too close to his girls! Get a rooster!
I'm starting to garden more so I'm looking forward to learning from other channels like yours. Thank you.
Excellent
I Love my ducks, and I also Love watching your videos with your ducks and geese!
Awesome!!!
So what do you do with all of those eggs? Do you keep any, let them hatch, give them to others who are interested in guard geese or ducks?
All the above. Eat em, sell em, hatch em when I need to or want to sell the baby ducklings or goslings.
So what do you do with all of those eggs? Do you keep any, let them hatch, give them to others who are interested in guard geese or ducks?
So peaceful and tranquil
lol are they clocking in & clocking out 🤣
exactly and if I'm late putting them to bed they are all lined up waiting to clock out.
So next time I get a house, I’ll just get 20 geese I’ll never have to do lawn mowing again 😂
Geese and ducks are such interesting animals, yet super messy. One minute they are walking, the next minute they and their goslings are all huddled around the lake by us just resting, and crossing in single file, like at a crosswalk
I am so sorry for your loss❤️🩹 I cried so hard watching this. Sending love and hugs to you! You’re an amazing person and I love watching YOU. Keep going! Keep positive 💓
Our Mommy cat just had kittens we saved her From the Hawks and she been working every since
The only thing I don’t like is my cat also kills birds from time to time. It’s ok, especially for her it’s like the top kill that and rabbits. But I like bird watching, have a lot of feeders around and the bird population has exploded and been diverse. Some of my saddest days were when on separate occasions my cat killed a Goldfinch and a Cardinal. She has also killed a few Catbird and Song Sparrows. A few Gracles too. Kind of sucks, but I can’t have everything perfect. Haven’t had a mouse in the house since I put her out. The moles are at least 90% reduced in just 4 years.
Hello can you share the plan with us please
Good Morning from Sioux Falls, South Dakota sending much love and light....I have a suggestion for the harvest of mulberry tree...what we do around here is lay down tarps on the ground all around then we tap the tree usually with the skid loader or tractor. Just tap the tree and all the ready berries will fall....❤ I can't wait to see the next episode have a wonderful beautiful Blessed day!!!
That sounds like something I could try, thnx for the tip 😁
Ducks and geese are amazing at controling slugs and snails too.
Yes, I hardly ever see slugs anymore 😉
I loved watching this video, I learned so much. Thank you for sharing !
Right on! 🤙
I’m currently trying to get close to a huge male furball that showed up 5 months ago. He meow around the house calling for my female cat - I thought. At daytime they play together and are best for friends it seems. But at night he meow and meow. I started asking in town and neighbor towns if anyone know the big guy and who the owner is. I can’t get close enough to catch and take to vet to check chip. He just run away. He’s stayed all this time and I’ve started feeding him and would you know he stopped meow. The big boy was hungry. I think he’s been dumped from a family who could not take care of him for economic reasons anymore after Covid. A Covid cat as we call it when owners got them during Covid and then get rid of after. It’s taken me 2 months to get him to eat inside. I can talk to him while he eat just outside my open bedroom door so I can see him. He’s walked up to my bed and looked at me. But if I extend a hand he leaves. I think patience is what older cats need. They must be allowed to come to you. But it’s a painfully long process. It’s tempting to shut the door on him while he’s inside. But that won’t do. I want him to get used to being inside before winter because in Norway winters are quite cold and he might die if stuck outside. So I hope he comes around.
Just keep at it, you’re doing it right I think. Takes a lot of time to earn trust. Good for you for trying to help 😁
Looks awesome Good Job!
I'm glad you like it
Love your videos! Thanks for posting ❤
Aww thanks for the comment 😁
You have a great system there with your ducks and geese. I LOVE the duck parade! Watching those little butts waddle is just too cute! Your land is absolutely beautiful.
Aww thanks so much.
@@HiddenSpringFarm I received my Molly shirt and it's adorable. It's comfortable too!
@@carlapierle8623 right on! 🤙
Happy Canada Day! This is a very beneficial video Chad. A few months ago we sold two white Chinese geese to a gal with a bunch of brown ducks and they folded into the flock well! She sent a video which I put on our channel. If you like to see it I’ll send it privately. We have a honey locust tree on our property as well as a ton of black locust with thorns. We were wondering if you can buy the thornless honey locust. You said it was the “enormous” variety. Is that correct? You’re making us like the ducks more and more!
It’s spelled INERMIS I believe and does not have thorns and in some cases does not have the legume seed pods, I specifically looked for this variety cause of course the honey locust will be regularly pruned as it gets bigger and I don’t wanna get pricked by thorns. I bought them from our local nursery.
I learned a lot from this episode, really enjoyed it. You are a good teacher. Your content is a nice break from the news.
❤️❤️
The ducks are truly amazing. Such beautiful animals to watch. Great video.
I could watch them all day.
I love watching the ducks and geese
Me too, if I didn’t have so many things to do I could watch them all day long.
I love your duck parade every morning, on the way to the pond. Thoughts and Prayers.Thank you for sharing. Love and Blessings. Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
Yeah the parade is so fun 🦆
@@HiddenSpringFarm ❤
Fasinating , wonderfull .realy enjoy you and what your wife have done . Such a lovly farm .
Aww thanks so much 🙏
You might be ready to bring in some seasonal bee hives in the spring.
Don’t think I’m ready yet but bees are on my wish list…I just wanna do it right.
Do you have a well or two to feed the farm????? How deep? Nothing tastes better than well water.
Our well is 150’ deep I believe and the water is rated in the top 5% for quality across Canada. Best tasting water I’ve ever had.
@@HiddenSpringFarm BINGO.
Tear tearjerker.
The duck pond doesn't look as clean as it once was?? Wow your trees and garden look great!
Apart from feather debris, it’s green colour from the algae bloom. Need to find the right balance I guess and maybe some plant life.
Chad great video🤗👍It’s a win win for you and the ducks/geese. They are adorable farm helpers❤
Exactly a win win.
Love your farm and all the animals ❣️
Awesome!!! 👏
Seeing Olive's fluffy butt hop fences is the highlight of my day!!!🥰🤗
It’s like she’s as light as a feather
I have a peach tree that is hollow still giving peaches too, it amazes every year. I could watch your pond all day.
It’s like the centre of the tree has no purpose, weird but very cool.
Happy Canada Day!
🇨🇦
ugh i LOVE your channel so much! it’s so calming!!! random question: would you ever keep bees??? not even just for honey but as pollinators
Awesome, happy to hear it. And yes we will get bees as we believe we need more pollinators for the gardens & orchard. I want to build a bee barn but have so much research to do if they can even have hives in a barn with access to outside. I still have to figure it all out but it’s in the plans 🐝
Hi fozzy bear
🐱
I noticed your pond is getting a little green. Would you consider getting water plants 🪴 like Lilly’s to help filter the water from all the duck/geese poop? Love your videos! Miss Molly!!!
Yes it’s algae, I think the ducks would just ruin water lilies. I’m still researching which aquatic plants will work and not be easily disturbed by ducks. I may get some algae eating feeder fish too.
geese graze really well, I am not sure they can beat rabbit for sustainability as the diets are both easy to fulfill with rabbit having a leg up in the reproduction year around possible and feed conversion. the only farm animal with better feed conversion is the modern cornish cross ( no sustainability as no reproduction viable). I bet the pigs would love to hang out under mulberry tree when the extras start falling to the ground lol. could be great cleanup crew in fall as you dont want any rotten fruit to stay on the ground to invite pests to the orchard. thanks for sharing and Happy Canada day to you too.
You’re so right though, rabbits too 🐇
the white color in cambell ducks is a recessive trait so two of your brown ducks must have had those recessive traits hidden by a brown gene. genetics are amazing
Very cool, just like how our Maggie barn cat can give birth to an orange one.
@@HiddenSpringFarm exactly! keep up the great work, I love everything you guys do!
Why don't they fly away
I said in the video they can’t fly more than a few feet off the ground, unlike wild ducks that can fly far distances. I think they just prefer to forage.
Awesome farm .. HIDDEN SPRING FARM..🦤🦢🦆🐣🐔🐓
😁
