Yes its true! Germans are very reserved and cold people and very individualistic. Very easy to make aquaintances with them but not making friends.

Deutschland war mal liberaler als Österreich, aber im Grunde haben beide Länder eine höchst kriminelle Elite die sich Gesetze zurecht-gerichtet haben um die Gesellschaft maximal abzuzocken und zu kontrollieren. Beide Länder haben seit Jahrzehnten eine rückläufige Kultur (=gesellschaftliche Verhaltensmuster, gesellschaftliche Angebote). Vereine sind der größte Müll den beide Länder haben, es geht ja um Steuern sparen. Wohne selber in einem anderen Land außerhalb der EU da gibt's so nen Steuersparmüll nicht weil es nicht gebraucht wird was zu mehr Angeboten führt. Die öffentliche Nahrungsmittelversorgung in Österreich ist zweifelhaft (Gasthäuser), zu teuer mäßige Qualität. Vergleiche mein Leben in Asien mit dem Leben in Österreich und Deutschland (in beiden Ländern habe ich über 10 Jahre gewohnt).

As an Irish I get this, once we were both 1 spoke/speak the same language went to war together once against Germany but now don't care for the comparison

but this love affair with bread is something us brits n germans have in common,i t is in loads of british phrases a few are the words bread and dough meaning money, others include, use your loaf, its my/your bread n butter, knowing what side your bread is buttered bread buttered on both sides, crumb/crumby, oh crumbs, left no crumbs, etc, as for eating the stuff full english breakfast, which must include fried bread, but us brits only ever have a full english for breakfast while on holiday, so at home our breakfast if we eat it at all is toast, as in what comes out of the toaster, not what goes into toaster, lunch at home is a sandwitch,, soup n bread/toast or beans on toast, lunch on the go is a meal deal containing a sandwitch,, with tea /dinner traditionally you mop up the gravy with a slice of bread, which my mum still does, and if hungry before bed then supper is toast, if eating out soup n bread roll for starters or basket of bread rolls already on table before you order anything. we eat bread, toast, fried bread, sandwitch, toastie, buttie, toasted sandwitch, we eat soda bread, lava bread, potato bread, ,french bread ( baguette),flatbread, white bread, brown /wholemeal bread, half and half, granary bread , seeded, bread, herb bread, onion bread, tomato bread, garlick bread, flatbread, a sliced loaf, fresh bread, a 1 pond lb loaf, 2 pound loaf, half pound loaf, a plait, it might be called a roll or cob or bap, or something else because if you travel more than about 10 miles the same type of bread is called something different,some of our bakeries have closed down too at least in villages and small towns due to mass influx of supermarkets, more people owning cars, and internet food shopping..

I am British and have been to Germany a few times. I really think that we have a lot in common with each other. Each time I went to Germany I have found them very hospitable and friendly.

the southern germans bavarian badeners and swabians are very similiar in culture to the austrians when austrians think of germans they think of the piefke, a piefke is a prussian very entitled very arogant very loud and serious we in the south dont like the northern germans either sadly austrians dont seem to know the difference between south and north germans

How could you know the nationality of not smiling people in the Metro for example... in Munich or Frankfurt... etc.. In Frankfurt for example , every second person is a foreigner. :-)

I’m British… I love the Germans! I’m visiting Germany for the first time this summer and can’t wait! I always meet Germans when I go on holiday… they’re incredibly easy to make friends with. Very social and fun. I find Germans more outgoing than fellow Brits to be honest!

Btw these are students. Meaning they have it easiest to find friend and btw they all looked European (mostly) now ask a black bearded person about it

Look on You Tube for a interview with Robin Williams on German TV when he was asked what he thought of German Comedians. I lived in West Berlin 1980, Stuttgart, Mannheim, Munich twice, and Garmisch most of the time, in the 1970s...Im a Scotsman and I was in my 20s when I lived there.. There is no humour in Germany though they do laugh at a persons misfortune, like the guy said about stubbing his Toe. Dont mention the War.

In my experience Austrians are much more open and relaxed than germans. "Passt scho!" Is a phrase I always hear often, and they say it like they mean it. 😅 In Germany I hear it too..but I don't believe it 9 times out of 10. I like how the old lady phrased it. I don't know why some Brits have any problem with Germany at all these days. What happened in the past is exactly that, the past. The generations now aren't proud of what the Nazi's did and most Germans hate them and what they did. I'm 34, English and have never ever hated the Germans. The people alive in Germany now aren't responsible for WW2 so don't hate them
