It is ridiculous to set a weight class but then allow fighters to enter the ring way over that weight limit. In what world does this make any common sense? It doesnt. Way back when someone figured it out as a way to cheat but now it is basically a way to make everyone cheat and it is solely the organizations responsibility because they not only condone it but they promote it. A 150 lb weight limit with both fighters entering the ring at 165 lbs? What a farse and it is a fraud. Same day weigh-ins just makes common sense.

This topic is a good substitute measure of IQ. I can't believe some of these responses... "If both fighters cut the same amount of weight, why do they do it?" Because if one didn't, the other would have an extreme size advantage. "Why don't we just add more divisions?" Because this does nothing to decrease the incentive to fight in the smallest weight class possible to maximize your relative size advantage. "Why don't they weigh in cage side before the fight?" Because fights would be cancelled during a live PPV and threaten viewership and sales if fans don't even know the event they're paying $100 for will have the fights they're promised. Just add strict hydration testing on the weigh in day. This places an artificial ceiling on the amount fighters can temporarily cut, allowing them to all relax a bit and stay healthier because they are not forced to join the prisoner's dilemma in order to compete.

Clickbait title. It's been a part of all combat sports for many decades... Adding more weight divisions will do nothing. If you think it's bad, add hydration testing at weigh-ins. Fighters will still do and always do whatever they can to get an edge, but that will solve extreme, short term weight manipulation. That's the only fix.

Not gunna lie, when women that are shorter than I am are "naturally" 20-30 lbs. heavier than I am when I struggled to get to 135 at 5' 10 makes me feel like i'm not a man. It makes very much sense that a dehydrated brain that has less cushion is going to get knocked out and damaged MUCH easier

I think you could also add long term weight monitoring, like they do with random drug tests at high levels. If you are a fly weight, you'd better be a fly weight all the time. If somebody wants to go for a double championship, they need to make weight months out and maintain it, or maintain within a couple pounds
