    Thanks again enjoy watching. Questions and ideas. Dessert first. Drizzle some dark chocolate on top. How do u heat the polytunnel in winter? Have been watching a herb show, how about dandelions and plantain for greens? Couple ideas one would love to see a cookbook. me either print or online if it was online, you could do it with the demos. I keep watching survival things I would a root seller be appropriate there? since Ireland is so windy as an alternative energy source is there anyway to use the wind, windmills or whatever I’m not too clear on this, but I’ve been wondering. Doing a great job keep it up!

    Thanks for the shout out - I found the paint sprayer worked fairly well for the walls and ceiling ( after I had a rough ish time trying to paint doors - much overspray as I didn’t get to grips with it at first). I think it works well when you have nothing in the room. I’ve been trying to mask off and cover floors and furniture with limited success. It I do agree the sprayer is good though and the results are worth it.

    • @WestCorkWander
      @WestCorkWander Před 13 hodinami

      Yes I had a short fuse when learning at the start, however with Rob's patience and some CZcams videos (which I would recommend), I got there. I feel the more I use it, the more I learn. Only just the other day, I realized that if you over tighten the black part at the front of the larger sprayer, it makes a massive difference to the amount of paint being released. I have got to the stage now where because I'm going from room to room, I don't even clean it or empty it, just release a little bit of pressure from the vessel while it's sitting idle. Yes taping and covering up is a pain as the bloody thing wants to pull everything off on you! The only way seems to be to weigh the dust sheets down. That actually is the biggest issue, I'm with you there😔

    Good morning! If you create a row for winter cropping, leave enough space beside the glasshouse wall to sidle down it... when it's frost season, pop some hoops along your row and pop row cover on for the overnights. Spinach, kale, bitter greens- radicchio, broad leaf greens. Have a pile of grassclippings/ a few bales of hay or straw tucked in a corner of the green house, and at the warmest part of a winter's day, use your pile to build up mulch around your greens... tuck them into a warm blanket of mulch .

    • @WestCorkWander
      @WestCorkWander Před 14 hodinami

      Yes, I love these ideas. I have never grown as anything in the winter, and certainly never had a tunnel to experiment in before, so thankyou 😊

    • @leeoregan9766
      @leeoregan9766 Před 10 hodinami

      Might i add, if your tunnel is getting below 20C during the day and quite cool overnight, move your seedling trays inside to a warmer, sunny window ledge... you need them to establish and be bulging out of their trays as you plant- to get them grown before the frost- they don't really grow over winter unless you can keep your tunnel above 15C overnight- they just don't die through winter freeze- so you want to push the plants to be grownish before a hard frost. Hope that makes sense 🌻

    hi there wcw ! you could try to plant potato onion, (potato onion is a onion that acts like a potato, you plant the bulb and from that bulb other bulb comes if you get what i mean?) from wiki "The potato onion (also known as an Egyptian onion, underground onion or multiplier onion) in some old English varieties may be large, although others may be less so. According the french ethnobotanist Michel Chauvet, the potato onion, also called family onion, forms several more or less flattened bulbs which, unlike shallots, remain enveloped in external tunics. The term aggregatum was coined to describe this type. It is cultivated in the gardens of many countries, including Finland, Russia, Sri Lanka, Philippines, and Ecuador." in short potato onion is a type off onion that can handle the weather in ireland becasue they are pretty thought ones (if i have seen right) just a tip off a plant you can buy and try out! :) have a great day!

    Lovely green tunnel episode, fun to me as a gardener too. Hi Claire, I have a tip that I’ve used for years. Lots of people use it satisfactorily. I save my teabags, banana peels and eggshells to make my organic food to put in gallon containers along with my well water to fill up and ferment. You have to put the egg shells first into a coffee grinder for the soil to absorb the calcium. I use a heavy duty plastic bag and run a glass bottle over it to make the shells very small and works well. I get giant tomatoes, great free food! I dry out the teabags a day or two to dry up and store in a plastic container until needed for next batch. I rotate 5 gallons. I buy my almonds whole, blanch them in boiling water so the skins pretty much rub off. Then I food processor them first, then put smaller amounts into a coffee grinder to get powdery. A 8lb. bay almost da ground up last a long time. I use it for my own almond paste too. A fun job. I just made 5 jars of lemon curd actually. I like it added to Greek yogurt for a tasty desert. I love making and baking, sewing, knitting too. I am a retired florist so very artsy all round. Almond tastes great too with cherry, also raspberry. Have a good week both of you. 😀 All the best, M.

    Just watched this with my good lady. It was great to get to see a bit of Clon (her ancestral home town). We’d love to see more ‘out and about’ footage from you. You're in such a lovely part of the world (weather notwithstanding), so it'd be a shame not to share more of it with those of us who are cruelly deprived of it. The rice pudding divided the room, though. I'm a HUGE fan of a proper rice pudding, and I would have made short work of the whole thing. Mrs H, however, not so much. The very mention of the skin-the best bit-had her making a noise like a faulty bilge pump. 😬 She doesn't know what she's missing! All the best to you all!

    Look at that trug full of spuds, what a bounty! I am so pleased to see your greenhouse full of all of those tomatoes, makes me excited to try and replicate your massive success in future garden projects. Top work on the spelt loaf - looked epic. Got a beauty of a greek olive oil at the minute, so fragrant and delicate, great company with a good slice of bread dipped in it, no vinegar, just oil. Delicious. 2nd showing for the Tom soup - must be a winner. Enjoyed the closing scene, you two having a tipsy slice of bread and butter. Good times. Edit: Forgot to say - thanks for joining us on our first live q&a. Good to see you there! Hope you enjoyed it.

    Rob’s Irish Great Grammy is probably rolling over in the grave hearing him call Irish lace curtains “fish nets”. 👀😂 All the garden veggies look great and I love all the sunflowers!! 🌻🥰💚

    I have 100% white sheer cotton voiles in my living room to stop people seeing in (maybe one person now and then hahahah). I love them as they let in light but obscure people seeing in just enough to make me feel comfortable.

    Greetings from mid west France. Having left Mayo in 2021 we watch all the home renos from Ireland. There is a fab community working on cottages over there. I love that your videos are genuine. The ups, downs and monotony of a project like this. You do what's easier for you and I'll keep watching.
