BRICKLAYING - Tricky Porch Detail Explained 👍👍 #bricklaying #construction #builder
Here is a vid showing how I did this porch. It involved a steel column and lintels.
I decided to build the brickwork above first which may seem odd but it was crucial to get the brickwork inline with the front and side of the house. I've put a vid in the corner of the laying.
These bricks are not great for pic and dip but I keep trying. Thanks for watching😀👍

Here is a short video on top outs again. This is a fairly new site for us and this is the first pair to be finished. In the video I show the multiple profile set ups I used to complete this pike. If your roof has a "gable ladder" then this is not the profile set up you would use. If it's "cut ups" then this set up is ideal!! I've kept it simple for this vid but I'll probably do a vlog on the ne...

Have the line go back through the inside of the corner block and then can be pulled tight the other way, twice wrapped over the biggest part of the block and then once through from back so it comes out the front on inside.👍

But, This video shows a method for using normal corner blocks in a way that we can run a line across the front and back of the house while building the gable . I agree ! When it’s a gable ladder like this then the intermediates are not great . This method with the spring clamps is really good 😀👍 thanks for commenting 👍👍

Alright brickie? How do you do it when the plastic is already done......it can be a nightmare!. also I've been left on my own recently.😢.....ok when patching, but shite on a plot , especially in the fxxxxxx heat the other week......any tips ?❤🥂🥂🥂

Aup Ian !!! I use spring clamps on the soffit and hang my line over them when the plastics are on!! Defo not as easy with the plastics already on but ok with a good system. Oh no!! Yeah, bricking is shite with no one bringing you the gear 👎 The best bricky I’ve ever seen did it on his own tho! On footings ! Got his own bricks and mortar. Still layed more than us 🙈

half the battle is reaching for bricks. I honestly think it would pay to have 2 labourers, one just to stand on overhand side passing you the bricks

Definitely Scott!! Im planning on switching to 2 labourers on site. One putting profiles up and jointing. One doing bricks and mortar. Get so many more bricks down 👍👍 easily cover the extra wage. David is so fast in this vid 👌🏼👌🏼 cheers for commenting 😊👍
