The Roland S-50 is the most beautifully designed keyboard ever. I had a Roland W-30 which also looked nice and it had a more detailed screen LCD-screen. But the cryptical simplified screen of the S-50 looks more intriguing. Modern synths show more information and pictures but it makes the keyboard look more like a toy or computer game. Black, slim and professionally looking 80s synths are my favorites. I'm not a fan of the 90s grey, white toyish look such as the Korg M3.

Can we pan the two layers? Not stereo spread, actual panning such as layer 1 panned left and layer 2 panned right.

Your soothing radio voice in combination with the 80s pads made me think of Jack Killian in "Midnight Caller"! Especially during the "Cons"- section from 36:48 talking about a blessing and a con, it's feels you're conveying profound insights about life. 😅 I was so impressed with the D50 when it came out (not knowing how the sound was created, seemed like magic to me) but ending up buying the D10 as it had drum sounds and was multi-timbral. I was lucky to get a job in a music store where I could try all kinds of gear. The late 80s and early 90s was so revolutionary but from the mid 90s synths looked ugly with their grey, white and plastic designs. For nostalgic reasons I prefer 80s gear and modern synths don't interest me at all. This is what some middle aged visitors told me when visiting the store I worked at, while they were praising old analouge synths which I found boring at that time. So, I thought those guys were weird and antisocial 😂Now I've joined their club! Your video made me realize that the better reverb but also the extra LFOs make the D50 sound better as sounds evolve and modulate with filter and amplitude. The D10's LFO could only modulate the vibrato hence the rather static and sterile sustain.

Why every single videos on CZcams about the summit is about the PADS!! They is nothing about nice Strings, Brass, Piano, Flute etc…. That shows the solo. All about pads and chords!!! Weird. This is why makes me hesitate to buy it. It sounds like Summit is for movies background music or effects not for a professional solo.

I played happy birthday to my 9 year old and his friends with the cat patch on a loud system with a tad reverb. 🤯they thought it was the funniest and coolest thing ever, but after, the kids were more intrigued with the Prophet synthesizer that it could make that sound. Subtractive Synthesis, yay!

I had a JD800, XV5080, JD990 and D50. The only one I still have is the D50. It just sounds better than the others.

What a synth. I’ve got the demo of the Chroma by Cherry Audio, it’s so clean and so iconic. For some reason it kind of reminds me of a Synclavier.

Bought my very first bass here last year in November 11 2023, I always visit this store like its my home. My dad also bought his first guitar at this location.

Thanks so much for your amazing work. Prior to watching this, based on everything else I had heard I thought the PolyBrute was a cold lifeless VST-in-a-box. Plenty of features but no compelling sound or identity. It is truly remarkable what competent imaginative programming can accomplish.

an odyssey might not be that interesting t mod, but look at the switches, than look at a 2600.. i'm gonna mod mine to be able to work in conjunction with my ttsh, and imo, it's a better combination to use an odyssey with ins and outs instead of switches (might moove these in the back for racticallity to use with the 2600) than to use two 2600's regarding functions... and my ody being a korg FS reedition i'm getting the three filters.... imo, modding an ody IS interesting, and really easy thanks to arp's clever implementation. You also fail to address the nature of EG1 (selected as A or B at the destination) this is not the usual ADSR but replaces the sustain level with an initial level and attack level controls. This allows the envelope to begin below the zero level allowing you to set a glide (up or down) to the pitch of note you would be playing. it is also great for attenuating the filter cut off to easily produce several voices (depending on the slider positions) without having to play with settings in the VCF blocks. Incidently did you notice you can send a high pass signal from VCF1 to VCF2, this (with the correct patch routing) will create a notch (band reject filter) which you don't get on a lot of synths.

You fail to demonstrate the sequencer properly, here is just one feature you missed, if the sequencer is set to track the keyboard, i.e you set up a sequence with the the sequencer set to kbd then the 'key' it is playing in can be shifted by pressing a note on the keyboard which is great to follow chord changes in a song, (for instance following the guitarists chord changes) and if you wish to stay in in a 'key' and solo over the sequence (say the sequencer is using OSC1 set to SEQ) using OSC2 (which would be set to kbd rather than seq in the OSC2 block) then by depressing the hold key on the sequencer the keyboards CV will not be sent to the sequencer despite you pressing keys on the keyboard so the sequencer stays in the key of the last note you played and you can solo over it. of course if the sequencer is set to 'Normal' then it runs independently but you can't do the key change thing.

i got mine in 1983 for £50 with an amp and a lead thrown in! it has kept me amused for 40 years.....

hi, how do I save the changes to an already existing sound? with STORE I can save a sound starting from scratch but on an already existing sound it won't let me save the changes made!

I started my Andromeda Search a few months ago and found one. It arrived today. I started buying synths in 1985 and I’ve lost count, NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING can match the Andromeda. I spent 5 hours in the headphones coming to the conclusion that I have been a FOOL for not buying one YEARS AGO! Best $5000 I’ve ever spent! I sold a Roland, a rev2 in order to afford the Andromeda and I won’t miss them! In only 5 hours I have come to the conclusion that I’m not jaded after all! Whatever critics say, don’t listen. It isn’t THIN! It has a bottom end that will make you forget all about MOOG IT IS A MASTERPIECE and you could spend a long life and not exhaust its potential. I cannot believe I only JUST NOW acquired one! SHAME ON ME

That model at 12:27 is like an Ondes Martinot, one of the instruments that chronologically predate the synthesizer but heralded it. The most noted recording of that instrument is the Ghostbusters score composed by Elmer Bernstein.
