Just keep at it
It’s a little high… I need to lower it slightly 🤷♂️
I’m lightly hitting because it’s very late at night. I’ve tried it with full punching power, and it takes a straight on hit nicely without gloves. I’ll use this equipment in my warm ups and in my light days. I like👍
at first I thought this room was AI generated. then I realized its a garage
I think there’s a head, body, head in there… I just put this up. I like because it’s quiet and simple. Good targets. I’m interested in how it hits with my gloves on🤷♂️
Well done bro !
Excellent. If you can get there and you want it do it
Head, Body ,Head.
I’ll work on it John 🙏
@@55plusboxing it looks dangerous.. you would score some stoppages
Front foot should be at one a clock. Back foot about three aclock
I agree🙏
Its a good way to get your thumb broken according to my martial arts instructor. I was taught always to hook youre thumb around the outside of index finger, curling it against the middle bone of your index. But then again im not a professional either.
I do put my thumb in that position you described when I punch… in the video I’m just sticking my thumb up, or whatever direction to show the thumb. Sorry for confusion. I definitely do not punch with thumb sticking out.
Ah yes thumbs down the video
😂😂
😂👍🤣👍🤣👎
😂😂😂😂
Homeless dumbass been watching to many boxing vids on CZcams!
That’s cool with me✅
I also watch too many boxing videos ✅🥊🙏
Yep! In fact you want to put as much strain on your rotator cuffs as possible
Am I going to experience higher chance of rotator cuff injury from position of my thumb, or just the type of punch. Should I not do this, or am I doing wrong (like the fist position, and the elbow position)?
Power generates from the hip.
Rotate the hip for more power… I’ll try giving attention to more hip rotation today
@@55plusboxingTrick question. Your thumb is in the right "position", but wrong area due to wrong type of punch. Act like your holding a coffee mug for punch. Don't think you need a tight fist pack either , centering your punch on the middle knuckle means you could punch with hand slightly open and itl be fine, like some MMA fighters. Power from punch comes from your feet actually significantly ramped up by your hip rotation.
thank you… I understand your directions, and will be focusing more on this as I finish out my week.
Great video 👍🇨🇭👋
Thank you friend🙏 The slip line is a great/cheap piece of equipment for boxing.
Head movements on point brother, keep it going
Appreciate that friend 🙏
I learned from watching Micky Ward fights.
I drop my hands… I’m droppin the hand again, and again, and… a lot! I will be focusing on that tomorrow
One hand combination…
we’re great keep going mr.55 u got this
homie i can see u got some power but if u ain't tryna relax u ain't gonna deliver ur power for now stick to jab and cross watch muhamad ali or larry holmes for jab for cross maybe watch hitman u'll get better if u learn the right way learning from the recording of the elite fighters is pretty much recommended if ur left handed then do southpaw if right handed then do orthodox guard
I will watch em.. I constantly watch random film, but I’ll look closer at these fights. Relaxing is difficult!!! I feel that relaxing is very important in this sport. I will prioritize working on this as I move forward. Thank you 🙏
very hard to keep guard and block attacks; the best defense is attacking in a sequence of combination
It's easy. You just have to setup a guard with the second arm while the first one attacks. You never guard against every strikes at once. You guard against the most likely or most dangerous counter given the attack
Whoa those were serious punches use them for defense not anger. Don't beat ur wife up.
I’m 43 and I just took up boxing for the first time. You’re looking great on the bag brother 🥊 🏆
Thank you friend! It’s exciting to find a good way to exercise your body as well as the brain. I’ve learned that repetition of the correct movements is key to increasing your ability. And watch a lot of film. 🙏
liking the dedication . it would be more ineresting to watch if u get some wrist arm weights to make it more difficult
I’m ordering 20 oz gloves from title… infused. I’m also getting the infused double end bag 7, or maybe a 9inch ( I like to have more area in bottom of bag for uppercuts). I’ve only owned a 5inch for a few months… it’s in bad shape. I need a new one. Double ended bag is my favorite to train on. I’ve got today’s short video downloading soon. Thank you for your interest in helping me🙏
@@55plusboxing interesting
Something i'v been noticing for awhile in your videos are your feet are flat most of the time. When your boxing its always a must to be in a tip toe where the heal of your foot is off the ground This helps with balance when moving and Will generate power when you twist waist along with your foot (Power hand i mean) For your lead hand your foot should mostly be stepping in for the punch and stepping out back to defense. But i understand if your not able to do everything yet, take your time go in your own pace and you will improve In everything overall. keep it up
I see that in my videos as well. I know the importance of needing to be on your toes with the heal slightly elevated… it’s difficult to focus on this, and all the other things needed to learn. But if I continue to work on it, hopefully it will become a second nature thing. I won’t have to spend time, and can concentrate on other things. Thank you for helping. 🙏
I’ll start back jumping rope. I believe that this will help. I haven’t jumped rope in a long while because of a foot injury from mountain biking. It’s totally healthy, I just need to start adding jump rope to my training. I’ll start today ( I’m not that great at it, but I’ll get better with practice). I’ll make a video of how I do today … 🙏
@@55plusboxing I see well thats completely fine bro, overall your a decent self trained boxer and i cannot wait to see the improvement in your future videos!
@@hillsberryninetyonepercent2564 glad to help mate
Train speed, too, but don't sacrifice form
Bend your knees go to the body son. Sit down on your punches I been in the game for 10 years
Thank you, I do feel uncomfortable when throwing the straight cross to the body… even when throwing the jab (orthodox or southpaw). I need to spend more time with this. Tomorrow will be a body punching day for sure! I’ll try your suggestions 🙏
I see it dropping down… thank you 🙏 I’ll work on it🙏
Amazing, try to rotate your shoulder a little more with your punch 🙏🙏
Ok🙏
When you throw the jab keep your right hand up look at what happened to Haney. keep up the work though 💪
I would say lose the blue tooth earbuds all those waves going though your head Is no bueno. go back to old school corded headphones
I’m using the music to motivate. I do use music during workouts, but today I only used in my stretching/wrapping hands. I turned em off, and kept em off for the whole time hitting the bag. I noticed that I was able to focus more on technique. I’m going to use music sparingly for now on. Only in beginning… stretching, jump rope, and during strength exercises. Music is a great tool for motivation for me 🙏
I agree!!! headphones are what I would like to be using… maybe I will switch to them in future 🙏
jajajajajaa
Doesn’t this Ja ja jaja ja mean haha ha ha haha? I’m pretty sure it does, and I used this comment today as motivation! It worked great! Thank you friend! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
If you are fighting really short folks
I am going to raise the bag a bit… been meaning to do it for awhile. The spring I have it attached too has dropped down considerably since the day I hung this bag.
Keep your weight on your back foot og and try to stay relaxed so you can generate power smoothly with your whole body 💪🙌
I will focus on the rear foot in today’s session
🙏
keep it up dude
Nice! Keep up the good work! 🙏💪
I’ll work on it starting today! Thank you friend 🙏
relax your shoulders and punch with an open hand close on impact
Terrible advice punching with an open hand even if you close it on impact you’ll break your hand
Alright , that’s good , but work on the defence first. When you hit the bag your free hand must be on the chin.
That my other MTB channel… I’ll be working on that. There are so many things that need to happen while boxing. A truly great exercise for the brain as well as the body. 🙏
@@55plusboxing Yeah. Boxing plus strength exercises it’s great for you 😎
rotate and move those feet brother, also dont drop that none punching hand. overall your form is good. also bend your knees a little bit more since your a taller guy
Awesome!!! Yes thankful for your comment! I will work on it starting with today’s training .🙏
@55plusboxing keep up the good work King!
@@55plusboxing I also noticed that you said you felt more natural using your right hand as your lead, Usually you would want to use your Dominant hand as your rear power hand. for example if your dominant hand is your right then your Lead hand should be your left thats called the Orthodox stance. flipped is the southpaw stance, but you say that you can use both styles which is actually pretty impressive. what i'd recommend you doing is Changing up stance in between rounds from orthodox to southpaw and southpaw to orthodox, this can be crucial when your in the ring or in a fight since your opponent would wanna get used to your style so you gotta switch it up so you got them confused and mixed up. To efficiently change styles you can quickly shuffle your feet from rear to lead and vice versa. Also if you wanted to gain more punching and speed you should shadow box with weights or dumbells.
I started out boxing training by just shadow boxing… The first couple of months I stood in the southpaw stance. I did this because it felt natural. My right jab was strong, fast, and accurate. I learned however that this was not recommended for right handed fighters. Every coach that I follow teach this way. So, I switched my stance to orthodox. I struggled with my left jab… it was weak, slow, and not very accurate. I was motivated to continued to train this way by telling myself that I needed to strengthen those weaknesses that I had in the orthodox stance. I was still training in southpaw as well (about 10- 20% of the time). After a year of light training, I found a new coach on CZcams who taught a way that I was very comfortable doing… he says to train both stances equally. Just like you suggested for me to do… switch from round to round. I now train 50/50. I believe this way gives me more abilities, and options in a fight. My left jab is much stronger, faster, more accurate, and a lot more comfortable now in the orthodox stance. Because I continue to train in the southpaw as well, Ive gained more strength, speed, and accuracy as well. I think one of the coaches was Viteri boxing out of Italy (awesome coaching). I follow a ton of coaches on this channel and my main channel (Hillsberry MTB). There are boxers who are right handed that fight very well in southpaw stance (what one man can do, so can another). I think that in a fight, I would definitely feel most comfortable and confident in a southpaw stance. I think Bruce Lee said that the power hand is too far away in an orthodox stance… I agree with Bruce. I will focus on the technique mistakes that I am making (they are endless it seems). And probably spend more time in the orthodox stance because of my weakness that still exists. 🙏
I’ll be adding the weights soon. I just need to get some. When I searched, I found some waited 20oz gloves that are same size as my 14s. I’m going try em out. I’ll look for the link … www.titleboxing.com/products/title-boxing-infused-foam-interrogate-training-gloves-2-0

I'm a streetbeeefs boxer age62. If you want to come to streetbeefs Texas we can do a sparring match
I would definitely be willing to do a match against you friend! Where in Texas would I need to go? I only drive… I do not fly unless it’s an emergency.
I’m more interested in fighting than sparring… I feel that if I were to get injured somehow, I would rather it be from an actual fight than from just sparring. Plus, I wouldn’t know how to spar correctly… I might accidentally injure you. I’d rather it be a fight. I am going on a road trip in August, and I could include Texas to my route… there’s a couple churches that I’d like to visit in the Dallas area.
@@55plusboxing We call it " hard sparring" for legal reasons. We have events in Dallas, San antonio, Houston. every 3 months, just had a Dallas event
Actually Houston would be closer for me. I’ll need the time to prepare, and plan a trip. I have questions about where to sign up, equipment things like what size gloves and such. I’ll stay in contact with you here for now. Thank you friend for helping me🙏
