Can you run this holster without a plug? I just got a compensator for my g17, making it a g34 length. I have the same RDS holster.
you can, just don't sit down in the mud and pack your barrel- lose a bit of rigidity but not a ton
Ideas on XDM.
similar material as Glock
Awesome work a little scary diy . Also sick thumb bro
Great video esp the examples at the end on diff frames. Thanks!
What’s the spartan tip
one of our specialty tips that looks like a spartan helmet
Man I just realized this will remove the ability to use a magwell since the grip shape is changing. Love magwells but hate the grip angle, I am gonna give it a shot on at least one of mine this weekend
I've not done it, but I've had a half dozen customers epoxy a plastic magwell on afterwards (requires some modification to magwell piece itself)
good, thats the way I did, some people grind and sand first but think about it, those original design are just plastic so it doesn't matter, anyway we want it rough not smooth. done well good brain.
Awesome product, but what if I have a g19 with tlr7 but want to be able to use a TLR1HL in the future as well, which model do I get or do you have a product for that as well
For 7ts model
These are based off muzzle so G19 with either light works-
Very nuce work will you lose the ability to add a a flared magwell?
You would need to modify a plastic magwell and/or get creative with epoxy to place it.
Will this make the up and down play go away with the 6354rds m&p 4”?
Our plugs are a little tighter but you need some play to account for temperature changes etc... you need our anti-rattle foam to eliminate the slop
@@OTDefense thanks!!
I just carefully measured and cut the extended plastic, and the old Nub Mod works perfectly.
I've had quite a few folks do this- only seen one holster from a customer where the Kydex body was cut lower from the factory and cutting it any shorter would have allowed the lever (even with a Nub Mod) to bump into the holster's inside.
What about the KelTec frames? They look like a different type of plastic? Easy or hard ? What types of tips you would recommend for the P17 ?
Honestly been a few years since I've touched one.. Thinking more of a higher glass fill. Generally if you practice on wide area of materials, you'll start to recognize high vs low glass in a press or two and know how they react.
💯
Great advise here, I got my first stipple tip from your company today and this video makes me want more of them. This is a good skill to learn.
I just ordered the z tip off of your website not really wanting to sand down my 19x frame, would I be ok stippling without sanding anything with that Tip?
It will be fine as it is a 'bulkier' tip. Gen 3 I still would with that tip though
Has anyone re-shaped their cutout to fit? I have an OD frame and would like to keep the original Glock OD. Just don't have a good idea on how to proceed. Any ideas would be great.
Lots of folks do that, have to heat up the cut off part, shape it and let it cool. Maybe repeat if needed, then epoxy it into place, by filling the entire hole. Don't let any get up into the trigger housing area-
Has anyone done this and was able to modify a magwell to fit? Magpul or Agency Arms for example.
We've had quite a few folks mod a magpul to fit, with with a permanent epoxy to fit it in place.
I spoke with you in January regarding the longer length leveler 0:24. I’m glad that you made this video. Hopefully you are able to come out with parts to fit it. This video gives me hope for it to come out.
Working on it. Trying to make one that fits both old and new but may just end up with a old and new lever Nub Mod option...
@@OTDefense ah okay! I will keep checking to see when you have the new option. Thanks for everything.
💯
Hey Let me bug you for a minute I have Questions: if I wanted to flat backstrap my G19 gen4 Do I order the "Gen 4-5 full size and compact frame" one ? (because it don't say G19 on the options) Do I just order the "Jig Only" that comes with everything I am gonna need? Do I have to stipple it for a better bond or can I get away with the glue and Talon grip it? I have a G42 & G26 gen5 I want to do to but i'll just start with one then work my way through to the others.
Order the jig and the backstrap you named and you'll be good to go. Talon tape will need trimming but be fine
@@OTDefense I probably already know the ansewer to this but Would you stipple it? (humor me) I was thinking of stippling the back and front and talon tape the sides. And the only reason I would stipple the back is because you said in one of your videos that glue and stippling creates a better bond overall. I have felt talon tape on a friends gun and it felt nice, I just never felt what stippling feels like grip wise. I wouldn't think it would be a better grip than the tape. (though i could be wrong)
What is a rough estimate of temperature on tip?
900F
@@OTDefense thank you ordered arrowhead, basket weave and straight tip from you gonna be stippling all my firearms
If you’re stippling your gun to customize it that’s ok , but if you’re stippling to get a better grip on it, you don’t need to be shooting a gun period.
Like driving a car on ice with studs vs without? Traction helps. Hence the reason all gun makers put some form of texture on. Some more aggressive then others.
What a stupid comment lol
With this work with a Glock 19 threaded barrel with sure fire x300 safariland holster 6354
As long as the round light plug is still in place, yes. You may have to trim the foam depending on your rig
You don’t sand?
Not needed with tips like this, especially on a Gen 4. Gen 3 you can just melt the big texture in, or sand if you want. I prefer to leave as much factory material on the frame as I can.
@@OTDefensewhat tip is this and do you recommend stippling the entire outline first?
@@settleschris1965 6min mark forward for about 30 seconds answers both questions:) Outlining first with random tips way easier
@@OTDefense thanks for all your videos! Started practicing with mine today and ordered tips from OT!!
I like the ham from wilder on there
Thank you for showing how to get the holster apart at 7:00
sir i just wanna say thank you for making this video i purchased a Safariland 7360 thinking that it was gonna fit my Glock17 G5 and my first thought was someone added a plug to just fit glock 19 i dint know that the barrel plug was not removeable just wanted to say thank you again for making this video keep up the good work
You are welcome! Plugs are mostly removable just kind of a pain:)
Awesome stuff. Just wanted to express my thanks for all you've come up with. Your accessories and contraptions really put refinement into some of handgun ownership's kinks.
Thanks!
Wow so glad I found this video
Oh man put the thumb away !!
I removed that SLS and hood on my ALS holster, but once I took the screws out, there’s still an exterior collar, that retains the screw in the holster that stick out about a quarter of an inch exposed on the outside of the holster, do you know how to remove those? I apologize for not knowing the correct terminology. Thanks.
email some pics- info@otdefense.com
Should stippling be done before the backstrap is removed? Or is after ok? Thanks
Can be done either way, but if it's a new gun I'd reduce first and stipple after.
Can this do all glock pistols or only certain ones?
all Glocks, but the G36 at this point
Are you reattaching the cut off piece? or is this another backstrap
Pause at the 20 second mark and you'll see our 'Flat Backstrap'. You can head up and reshape the cut off piece, but I'd recommend you fill the void with a 2 part epoxy since it doesn't have the middle support like our backstrap does.
@@OTDefense Thank you. Yea im trying to figure out how much reshaping of the cut off piece I can get away with, without it looking janky. I think If I do try to, Im drilling a couple holes for pins and epoxying.
Nice ShadowMan. 8541SS

Do you have to have a light on your pistol for this to work?
Yes
Bravo!

I need to stipple slanted front cocking serrations on an FN 57 pistol slide cover. Which tip would be most appropriate for this?
Looks great, bet it’s well grippy.
Does this product help with the issue left handed shooters have with ejected brass pelting their arm?
It could as it deflects the brass forward, but it's still throwing it on the 'wrong side' for a lefty.
@@OTDefense Much appreciated. If what Reddit says is true about there being a Gen 3 coming out soon, hopefully the new generation addresses this issue. I'll still get this charging handle nub for comfort though - that goose neck charging handle looks like it'd be rough to manipulate raw. Anyways, thanks again!
I have a 6365RDS ALS/SLS. Which mod do I get?
SLS nub mod
I took my AR180s to the range last week, ran it with a suppressor, obviously in suppressor mode. No issues whatsoever, in fact after I was done I remembered I had it on there, and no pain no tearing up my knuckles nothing. The only thing I wish existed is color. But that's Gucci stuff to worry about. Guess that's why they make spray paint.
I filled mine in with epoxy, cut it down with a Dremel, and stippled it with a wood burner. Came out great and was very easy.
That's one way to do it. Used to do mine that way until I came up with this jig. Our jig and backstraps allows for a greater reduction beyond the point of dremeling down just shy of the epoxy (to leave factory material to stipple).
Thanks brother for giving out this knowledge. Just bought your kit and going to practice on my box and extra back straps before I dive in. Going waffle tip because I’m a noobie and I want aggro-grip because my hands are straight leather lol greatly appreciated!!! 😎🇺🇸
Do the Jigs ever go on sale? I'm not a gunsmith so it's hard to justify $100 plus parts to fix a $50 PSA dagger frame
Generally not. Honestly if you've only got a single frame reduce it may be better for you money-wise to do an epoxy style reduction.
Hello, can we ship to China?
We do not.
