Hi, if you want to know the age of your Zenit or any other Soviet camera (except the Fed family, maybe), you just need to check the first two digits of the serial number of the camera. Second, the BelOMO factory is situated in Vileysk, which is located near Minsk, Belarus, not Russia. You can also differentiate between the KMZ and the BelOMO versions by the logotype of the factories, and unfortunately the BelOMO cameras were a little worse than the KMZ ones.

I still have two of these cameras as well as an original Canon F-1 that I have had for many decades. Except for the battry issue, it is a great beginner camera. I use a hand meter with mine. Great lenses and I love the breech lock mounts most of mine have.

I want one of these so badly. Soviet stuff was always so awesome, even the cheap toy cameras they made were wicked! I will probably find a TLR with medium format for my next film camera.. which means a lot of quality Soviet cams to choose from :o

I'm curious if I could do a long exposure (night/ astro / Aurora) with this camera. My dad had this camera and he passed away years before I got into photography myself. I use a DSLR Nikon d850 so it's quite different. Do I need to get a high iso film to do a long exposure night shot? My usual settings for G1 Aurora storm is 15 seconds, f1.4, iso 1200 or so. A powerful G4 or G5 storm I can do iso 800, f1.4, 5 seconds. So if I only have film that's iso 100, I'd have to do an insanely long photo, which would result in star trails, which isn't ideal. Advice?

Does this camera have battery? Cause I saw in the zenit 12 that have the LR44 battery. But in this one, zenit et I don't see where is the battery, so I don't know if in this model in specific have.

I try pulling up on the left knob of the camera to open the case but it wont budge. I am not sure if Im not pullling hard enoguh but at the same time I am afraid of going too hard and breaking that knob. any suggestions would help
