Forging a RUSTY Mini Sledge into a HATCHET
Today we’re taking an old 2lb sledgehammer that I had laying around and forging it into a new hatchet to use while camping! I love taking these rusty tools and reforging them into something useful, they always are a fun project and allow me to do some decent forging! Plus, I wasn’t going to use this old hammer for anything, so it was good to get a new axe and have a fun project all at once! Let me know what projects you’d like to see!

Thank you for this video. I'm a novice and I LOVE blacksmithing, and this video is very "real" to me. Not perfect, not showroom, but a REAL tool that can REALLY be used. In other words, your level of expertise is about the same as mine AND THAT IS SO ENCOURAGING! You don't need to be an expert to enjoy the craft and make useful stuff. Kudos. Well done. You rock.

I just found your channel as I stated a search for, well, anvils. I'm glad to stop on your video, not only for the knowledge you gave, but the fact that you're not broke neck starting at a phone. I'm a 40y/o disabled veteran looking for something tangible to do for productivity, therapy, and just plain fun. You've got yourself another sub. Maybe one day I'll start up my own channel or business and join this community of smithing. There's just something about needing something and making it yourself that speaks to me. I look forward to seeing more and will check out what you have already. Keep doing what you're doing. You don't have to get to 40 before figuring out what you want to do. Take care, man.

Hello! I have two tips for you. Tip no. 1: When your steel is hot, don't talk, because by the time you get to forging, your material will be cold. Tip no. 2: You can do the hardening and tempering from a hot one. You simply draw as much as you actually want to temper, and the heat will migrate from the part of the material that is still warm to the segment of material you are tempering.
