How many did you use?
Great detective work!
A little late. But you can get so much more out of your shower by easily removing the Red ring Temperature Limiter Safety with needle nose pliers from the ceramic cartridge. Without it you can get the max heat and blend of the two temps.. Again its a safety ring for the hot water. Know the risks. I love a hot shower.
I installed my Home Depot Pegasus (Glacier Bay) shower valve seven years ago and it worked fine. A couple years ago I heard some pipe knocking under the shower so I opened the ceiling downstairs to get to the pipes and verified the noise was coming from the water supply lines going to the shower valve. Any faucet, toilet, dishwasher, and washing machine cycle caused the noise in the shower lines. I replaced the back portion of the cartridge and the noise got better but over time the pipe thumping came back. I even put water hammer arresters on the toilets and washing machine lines. No help. I was ready to put a big hole in the tile to replace the entire mixer valve and then I watched this video and it gave me the solution. The plunger in both cut off valves were calcified and stuck all the way in. I cleaned both plungers and the problem was finally solved. Thank you.
Thank you
i searched all over with issues that i had after using the two stop valves to isolate the shower valve so i could replace the cartridge . Finally discovered your post . Followed it to the letter and had success beyond expectations. one of the plungers was frozen solid and required an Aero Kroil intervention. The 50/50 vinegar DI water trick worked great . Thank You !!!! Your comment about dropping the valves into the abyss did keep me focused . Thanks again...
Do I need to shut off the main water unit or just the handle on off position is fine? It is so difficult to turn off whole unit water in the building.
The water supply must be shut off upstream of the shower valve. Maybe you’re lucky and your unit has a dedicated shut-off…
No,,,,,,,,,, blind drilling, you will pay for it a lot sooner or later.
Other videos i watched they just adjusted the pressure with those 2 screws with a couple turns to the left
I recommend actually showing us how you got the wires phished through. This video is useless without that info. You basically edited out all the stuff that we came here to learn.
Looks like shit
Those search bits are risky especially if there’s a bathroom above you. Drilling blind can hit water electric hvac or even flex gas lines. Sometimes it’s easier to take a chalk line and cut out a two ft wide trench and take the drywall out all together. Those lights are also obsolete. Those connectors are dangerous as well easiest is not always safest.
Great video. I just had a pedego shop put the same fork on my element. I did notice a change in the way the steers. It’s a lot more squirrelly. Did you notice the same the same thing switching from the ridged to the suspension fork?
WOW 😯
Thanks so much for this video. I was at my wits end with low flow and very little hot water. Your video was very clear and helped not only with the process but also understanding how this valve/plungers worked. My plungers were frozen in place and after descaling and cleaning, I was able to get a fully and properly working tub/shower.
I’m glad this video continues to help people!
DONT DO THIS as you CAN BREAK water pipes, gas line!
How many tubes did you use to do your pool and how many feet does that consist of?
👍👏👏👏
Is it hard to remove the old mastic ?
Need to caulk inside my fiberglass and concert pool..don't know what sealant to use..no help at store
Thanks for showing. Im going to try taking mine apart and lettig it soak.
Where can you find the Sika Self Pro Select Self-Sealing Sealant? Where can you find the closed celled backer rod?
What you call the tube and where to buy it
Sika Self Pro Select Self-Sealing Sealant can be found at Home Depot or Ace Hardware.
Folks let a professional certified pool and spa operator do this work. The reason this "man" didn't notice the pitfalls until after the work was done, was because he didn't put sand in before laying the mastic down. By putting sand down you will see the pitfalls and seal them appropriately prior to applying the mastic.
Thanks for the comment, have a good day.
Well, I haven't come across many professionals with craftsmanship and pride in their work. There are too many grifters and I have learned that if I am willing to put in the sweat and due diligence I do a very good job.
I'm a pretty handy farm/ranch gal, but hadn't ever fixed my own shower before. A year ago I paid 2 different repair guys to fix this issue. 1st one (plumber) completely unsuccessful, 2nd one (handyman) knew what to do, cost me over $500 between the 2. Same issue with shower yesterday. Thanks to the knowledgeable handyman, who was happy to teach me last year & your perfectly instructional video I just fixed the dang thing again ALL BY MYSELF 😁for free👍👍 Appreciate you Sir!!
nice informative video. thx.
Question. Did you take off the wheel locks. The new forks doesn’t seem to be compatible with the old forks wheel locks
I don't recall anything resembling wheel locks coming off my old fork. The spindle assembly has spring-loaded washers that are captured by the wheel nuts and the washers have a small tang that keeps the nuts from backing out. If these are what you are referring to, they fit perfectly into the new axle slot on the suspension fork.
@@EkalbGnilrad sorry I meant washer locks. My old forks had washers that actually grab into the actual fork. Also, did you put the crown raise on that came with the new forks?
@@lilbighomie478 You can see at 1:00 that the crown race is installed from the factory. I have been running this setup for about 800 miles and it's performed flawlessly. I'm curious if the fork you're working with isn't actually the Pedego branded fork, or maybe they made changes since the new Element Platinum was released.
@@EkalbGnilrad I got the forks from the pedego store here in Atlanta. Did your forks come with 2 extra crown raises?
Also did your factory forks have the washer locks?
Replace you're hydrostats.. I'm guessing they are sticking a bit and allowing ground water to flex you're pool.. ... Pop the main drain covers off and grab that octagonal thing and lift up and release a few times to clear the debris.. your can replace each one for about 20bucks.. if you have the basic understanding of plumbing..
Good eye there! Two unfortunate realities exist here: 1) the pool isn't lifting, it's actually settling on the shallow end and the deck is drifting down the slope behind the pool and 2) when I drained the pool last summer, I couldn't find any hydrostatic valves anywhere in the shell. Not in the main drain compartment and not in the floor of the pool...they may have been surfaced over when the plaster was replaced years ago. At any rate, I'm pretty far up on a hill, so I suspect the water table is 80-100 feet below my pool.
Amazing !!
Do you don’t have attic access to climb in to attic and make it easier
They say leave restricted out stopp

Super video! Thanks
So. . .I see you drilling holes and then wire magically appears? Can you share that magical spell with the rest of us?
Nice Job! Question... how would you repair a hole in the middle of a ceramic tile? I accidently dropped a glass jar of pickles and the jar did not break but it left a dime size hole in the center of one tile square. Any advice?
What did you use for the drill bit and extension? Thanks! Cool video
Very good vid? Thanx.
Love how you sort of winged it but still did it yourself. I'm in the process of replacing some failed double pane windows in my house with just single pane.
My local pedego sells the element with the fork already and they also have the elevate but with a throttle
Where do I get a long drill bit like that?
looks like shiet
Are you pleased with the brake conversion? Was it worth it over the original mechanical brakes?
The hydraulic brakes are far stronger and more articulate than the original mechanical brakes. Swapping the mechanical pads out to ceramic was a big improvement, but nothing compares to the lever feel and strength of the hydraulic system. Whether this improvement is worth the $230+ cost is up to each individual and their budget, but I would do this swap again.
@@EkalbGnilrad good to know, thank you.
If I were to add sand, what kind would I use? Thanks!
Monica. Buy polymeric sand from HD. It's found in the garden section. Add a little water, once you filled gaps with a broom. The water helps solidify the sand.
😂👍
Fastest descaling solution, blows table vinegar away: Buy Sulphamic Acid chrystals at Home Depot or Lowes, it comes in a very small bucket. Dump them in a gallon of water and mix up. They dissolve slow. Not all chrystals will dissolve but that's OK, solution is now as strong as possible. Next, Drop parts to be descaled into solution. There will be an extremely fast dissolving of calcium, I mean it will literally be bubbling! In 3 minutes it will likely be done, it's that fast.
For the algorithm 🤓🥳💪👏🤙🤔😎
Thank you for sharing I also have seen for bigger gaps to use a pool noodle and cut it to the size needed.
Hey thanks, just copied your set up! Did you by chance adjusted your preload to your weight? If so can you do a quick tutorial how? Thanks man!
I don’t think the preload is adjustable on this fork. I can’t find a schrader valve anywhere to adjust the air pressure. My fork came with a pretty heavy charge from the factory, so it’s probably good for riders up to 200lb.
Proper way to do around a pool is clean up your crack put silica sand about a quarter-inch to the to half-inch of the silica sand in the crack then filled with deck-o-seal then wait a few seconds then throw silica sand on top of the deck-o-seal to give a concrete texturing look
Been looking at my cracking mastic for a few years. Glad I watched; be completing this summer. Good ol Calif sun blasts everything! Good video!
Me too it's time to do mine again. I also live in So California I get in the pool while I run the bead, so I can stay cool.
I do this in Cali! Just saying lol.
@@HRTsAFyreI always want to just into customer pools when I go do their mastic. Lucky you get to jump in 🤣🤣
