Star Wars Obi Wan Kenobi's Name - Re-Recorded for The Trekkies Trek
Well, it is no secret...
We are Star Wars fans here at the channel, and have been for more than 30 years now!
Today I surfed CZcams and happened to come across a remix to the soundtrack of A New Hope, specifically the music from the scene where Luke meets Obi Wan for the very first time (played by the great Alec Guinness), and asks him about his name.
The track immediately brought Star Wars back to my mind, and in a moment of inspiration I decided to re-record the scene with my own voice :)
Hope you enjoy!
Let us know in the comments what sci-fi scene you would like us to do next :)

I wish Harris Yulin had done more on Trek. One of their best guest actors ever.
One of the greatest episodes in the history of Star Trek
I like how this episode showed (both to us and Kira) that not all Cardassians were bad. If im not mistaken this was the first episode to show that side of them.
when you are overqualified for a role !
ST DS9 with Bajor recent history remind me seriously the sad period of my country : France, with german Occupation, Vichy Governement, resistance, collaboration, deportation etc...
This scene is so heart-wrenching. The anguish, self-loathing and guilt Marritza suffers makes me cry. I was horrified when I first witnessed his murder--Marritza did not deserve such a fate. Actor Harris Yulin did a tremendous job acting in this role. The episode stands as a favorite.
i met a man once his name is was otto. during the terrible time he was at ravensbrück let it go
Still deeply moving. The late actor Harris Yulin was brilliant, but not nearly well-enough known to audiences----he vanished into the roles. The plot itself borrows elements from of actor Robert Shaw's play MAN IN A GLASS BOOTH, but this episode stands as a major work of drama. Glad it's here.
That was one of the most incredible acting scenes in all of every Star Trek series ever made! That guy should have received major awards for his acting in this episode. Actually, Kira along with him. It was extremely emotional and touching... my wife cried like a baby when watching this. I got a little soft in the heart myself. I love all of the Treks. But DS9 was my all-time favorite. There could and should have been another multi-season series of DS9. Where they left it was perfect for a continuation. I was a little miffed there wasn't a continuation, or at least a spin-off to another series with all of the characters who wanted to continue... and I read there were a lot of DS9 characters who wanted to continue. Nevertheless, the acting in this scene was again, some of the best I've ever seen, anywhere, in any movie, any show or series. I miss DS9... GREATLY! At least I have the sets of all of the series to watch whenever I want to go through them again. Star Trek... superb!!!
Shut up, Wesley.
Nutrek hasn't made anything this good has it
i watched this episode more than 10 years ago now; i still keep coming back to re-watch it every year or two. such acting! and when he starts crying there’s a lump in my throat too, every single time. hats off to mr. harris yulin!
This episode is pure artistic brilliance and it goes so far in depicting the pain of genocide and its consequences. They dont shy away from the horrors, mentioning early all the absolute chilling stuff almost every other show would have merely eluded to. We understand why Kira hates them, and then when Meritza breaks down we see the pain on the other side. How the imperial machine made him complicit in those utterly horrendous actions. It killed him, utterly destroying his life. It is a vital lesson and perspective, even more so today.
One of the bravest people in Star Trek
“Mr Data, your final report!” “Standby” “I can’t Mr Data!” Still love that exchange today, as much as when I first saw it 30 years ago. Makes the hairs on the back of the neck stand on end. And still I think BOBW part 2 doesn’t quite live up to the promise of part 1 but, fecking hell, it comes so close.
Great acting skills... it's almost eerily familiar somehow!
I think allot of people would too
The truest Cardassian of them all, willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for the chance to redeem his people. He loves his homeland. That’s what justified his action. That’s what gave him strength.
One scene that always struck with me from the series.
DS9 does not get enough acclaim. It had several of the most innovative episodes in all of Star Trek.
I first saw this episode three years ago. This episode was really amazing and this scene was phenomenal. There are people out there who probably were like Maritza in any totalitarian regime, even after WW2. Powerless do anything to stop the state from carrying out butchering people, especially the Holocaust.
Star Trek at its best!
Why did levar burton's head get shaved in the star trek voyager episode death wish?
Hell of a contrast in a character. At the beginning of the scene he says a Cardassian would never writhe around pain in front of a Bajoran begging for mercy . At the end of the scene he breaks down and does just that. This is actually a really deep episode dealing with a form of ptsd.
Hands down this is some of the best acting in any Star Trek series. I can never get over the sheer emotional power these actors managed to get across on screen. Just amazing.
*Japan, you taking notes?*
😂 They are paying with anime.
My gf said she falls asleep to this
What most impacts me about this scene is when he says he's doing it for Cardasia... This isn't at all autistic, it's a patriot that sees the flaws in his people and wants them to acknowledge their misdeeds. This is a very sympathetic and believable character. I'd have loved to see him and Garrak interact for all of one episode.
When they ask you who is your favorite captain.
Dear god this show sucks.
I always tear up when Marritza breaks down like that, it's so powerful.
I didn't watch "The Man in the Glass Booth" until decades after this episode. I recommend it.
So sad, gets me every time
"Sir, this is a Wendy's..."
To this day I find it to be a miracle who they could produce such a magnificent episode so early in the series.
What really stood out to me in this scene is the way Avery Brooks delivered the two "I can live it" lines. The first time he says it its with a strong boldness that leaves no doubt in the viewer's mind that Sisko means it. However there is a pause after he says "I can live it" the first time. When he says it the second time its a little more subdued, as if Sisko is saying to himself: "Am I being honest with myself?, can I really live with it?"......it makes me wonder if Sisko didn't sleep well that night or for a few nights afterword.
NEws flash: replicators were said to convert ENERGY INTO MATTER. Why do you think they were energy intensive in the 24th century? By the time VOY returned, replicator efficiency was tripled, along with a variety of different things. Disco writers made a whole bunch of errors with Trek technology and also downgraded the UFP capabilities so much that I don't really like 32nd century AT ALL. UFP was supposed to be a type III civilisation on a Kardashev scale by this time frame, with most dwarf galaxies also encompassed and some parts of Andromeda even with Quantum Slipstream driver V2 which allowed 10 000 Ly's per minute. There were other whole bunch of technologies (including power sources) that the UFP itself researched, encountered (and had working detailed scans and knowledge of). I didn't mind Disco in the first 2 seasons, but then the 3rd messed things up with a bad storytelling of the Burn... they could have done it differently and still made UFP hyper advanced (as it should it have been). This is one of the reasons I'm hoping Disco jumped into an ALTERNATE future when they went through the wormhole at the end of S2... and the Prime Timeline is the one where UFP is massively more advanced and the Burn never happened because UFP had the sense to start abandoning Dilithium and M/AM in favour of more advanced power production technologies and were building Dyson Swarms in all star systems they had.
What hit me in this episode was how both sides are a shade of good/bad. The man was killed out of rage by the past and Kira saw herself in that action, what a wake up call
ST, TNG, DS9 they were the only shows who made you feel for the characters they ran multiple character arc's had amazing stories including Picard. With that being said after DS9 to Picard was all hot trash.
Yes sir. He followed orders. They were willing to sacrifice their lives to save earth. I find it admirable even if it is a TV show.
The Dominion must have been seriously confused by this whole situation. A Romulan senator that met with Weyoun dies after his shuttle blew up; something the Dominion would totally do. But they didn't. And as a result, the Romulan Star Empire declared war on them. So their master plan went wrong, and they had no idea why.
Thought of this when Aaron Bushnell made headlines for immolating himself. It seemed like he was desperate to save the soul of his country just as much as stop the foreign massacre he was trying to bring attention to. America does need to face justice for the bloody decisions we’ve made in the Middle East these past decades, but losing more good people might not bring us closer to that, no matter their intentions.
One of the finest acting performances that has ever existed.
One of my fave DS9 episodes. After siege of AR 558 and sacrifice of angels
Just realized that this is an amazing reversal of the classic episode "The Conscience of the King"
This shows exactly the sort of actor Avery Brooks is. He monologues like he's back on stage.
Harris Yulin gave one of the better performances of all of Star Trek here. He was totally believable as both the proud mass murdering tyrant and the broken clerk filled with shame. This episode took you on a trip and it needed nothing more than a good guest actor and little special effects.
Literally nobody: Picard: "Computer, Jamaharoff!"
What an Othello he would make.
Not all of the cardassians we're evil
