One of our most favorite moments from Star Trek: The Next Generation!
Season 3, Episode 10 - "The Defector".
Picard (Patrick Stewart) at his prime, during the height of the Federation, facing off with his Romulan counterpart, the infamous Tomalak (played by the amazing Andreas Katsulas).
With one word to Worf (Michael Dorn), and 1 click on the LCARS display, the might of the galaxy class Enterprise-D and the Klingons unite together, against the arrogant Romulans and the day is won :)

Picard chose his words knowing full well the Klingons were listening. “We will die for a cause that is just and honourable” “are you willing to die today?” 😂👌
If you listen very carefully around 1:29 when Picard asks "shall we die together?", you can hear Worf get an erection.
Perhaps today is a good day to die?
Hands down one of the best moments in all star trek history. The way picard stands up to tomalok and then the sense of power when the klingons decloak. That mixed with the dramatic music makes this one to remember
And it was at this moment that Tomalok realised the true power of the Federation. For they made more friends than the Romulans did. And having a powerful warrior race at your back, such as the Klingons, sent a shiver down his spine. For he knew at the moment that his people had the weaker hand. He knew they couldn’t bully the federation, or conquer them, as they had so many other races before them.
What's your problem apparently praying and karma is going to resolve these world 🌎 issues
You know the Klingon's were listening and cheering the "Shall We Die Together"
...and they were probably disappointed when Tomalak backed down.
@@nickdfoxy they probably cussed him out for not having the balls to fight.
Perhaps today is a good day to die?
And the Klingons said to themselves " of course that's their response. They aren't warriors and they have no honor. Even our human Federation allies intimidate them.""
@@BrettCagwin49ersbut secretly they admired Picard’s balls
Admiral Jarok, truly one of the most tragic characters in TNG.
indeed....
And only in Star Trek could you have a legendary battle scene without one shot fired.
Everyone says that there are 3 Klingon ships. But if we were in a shuttle craft looking at this, you would see a 4th ship on the back left. Its just out of camera. No confirmation on that, just what i believe. Awesome Scene!
Gotta love how Tomalak handles this. Instead of swearing revenge or fussing, he handles defeat gracefully. He knows a worthy rival when he sees one.
😂😂 no
The brilliant Andreas Katsulas!
The screen on the Enterprise is amazing. It actually renders a full giant 3D head that changes angles with perspective. Actually seeing it in real life would be like talking to the wizard of oz every time. A giant head.
1:05 hearing the federation theme swell then shift to the Klingon theme.
I love the Shakespeare reference. I wanted to read the book after I saw this I should have
Tomalak was determined and cunning.... but also intelligent and crafty enough for you to cut a deal with him if it suited both parties
The best part about this was that even though Picard had this whole thing planned, he was still dead serious about the outcome of this encounter if the romulans didn't back down. Picard would absolutely have gone all the way here if left with no choice.
The old man is calm, intelligent, diplomatic, and kind... But nobody is ever under the impression that he is not a total badass as well
Exactly
Tomalak had two pair on his side, but Picard was holding a full house in his. That was no bluffing against the RSE.
I would have loved to see Tomalak in Nemesis...
He appears in the first book of the Titan series.
1:22 Tomaluk sounds pissed that his ambush has been ambushed in turn.
This plays out as if even riker did not know the klingons was out there
Awesome moment. But look how confident Picard is. Watching the new Picard series and this is night and day. I think the issue is the latter is more Patric Stewart drawing from Professor Xavier than Picard.
Do you see all the special effects, camera shakes, lence flares and action to make a compelling, entertaning and tence scene, Me neither, It's much more exiting to watch this then STD
i loved this bit of the episode
What an incredible bad ass scene....picard owned them well
He got scared real quick Lmao
One of the best eps!
Not only did you do it for nothing, but you are wearing an oven mitt.
PICARD'S PROVERBIAL ACE UP HIS SLEEVE..LOL
One of the best surprise endings in ST
Wicked cool. I grew up in the sixties, yet this incarnation of Trek was great in its own right. A pity though I couldn't find or afford prop replicas from this show. It's all good I have the set of a communicator, phaser and tricorder along with several rare versions.
I wonder what the Romulan version of Swedish Meatballs tastes like.
Probably will be spicy :)
I suspect it's one of those great universal mysteries which will either never be explained, or which would drive you mad if you ever learned the truth.
God, I love this music. What a shame that talentless hack Rick Berman got rid of this composer.
Are you sure the composer didn't just leave for bigger projects or declining health?
The best scores in Star Trek were Jerry Goldsmith & James Horner... who are with Roddenberry, Nimoy, Doohan, Kelley, and so many other Trek talents that are now departed.
@@varianschirmer9375 Nope, look it up. Rick Berman hated that music and shitcanned him to get something more generic for the show.
@@varianschirmer9375 Berman didn't want music that drew the viewer's attention, which was unfortunate because the Klingon and Romulan themes added strongly to shows featuring them in my opinion
I love G'Kar, I mean Tomalak.
mean while while this was all happening i was down on deck 24 playing with my star trek legos in ignorant bliss, and the vulcun kid said " there is no logic to Lego's"
I did it, for nothing..........
