In terms of the hose clamp potential recall issue, I hope you are going to add some additional protection at that point, and/or a clamp between the two hoses to keep them rubbing together.... Just my, two cents on it, that I'm sure you've already thought of....

Thoroughly enjoying the extensive rebuild process. But it begs the question, did you consider doing any type of mods to it besides turning the hose clamp. Especially, since you're a current owner and an engineer. I know I could think of a few dozen LOL, good luck with the rebuild.

I have found Apple CarPlay maps to be more reliable for trip planning. Always seems to arrive within 2-5% of prediction. And you can enable Tesla superchargers in the Apple map settings.

15:20 EV prices are dropping so fast you might get a good used tradesman version for the salvage cost at this point. (and so salvage cost should also be dropping alot)

Charging Fiasco, maybe load a 50kw+ gen set in the bed of truck.

Lived in Florida back in the 90s and it was the "land of the scam" even back then so business ppl there are extremely cautions of others pulling scams. Its a difficult place because of all the shady scammers. ....................and yea hellofa long drive from KS

Isn't the Cab the same as the standard Aluminum F150 ? seems like the damage area is generically available F150 items locally available anywhere. If EV powertrain damaged that's more compilated for sure.

With any luck Ford OEM will upgrade/update software to more efficiently add Tesla (and other) charging locations. THis work-arounds are way too cumbersome these days.

Where did you find a replacement Frame? another Wreck or from OEM?

What's the point of rebuilding this?

When you put the battery back in what is the computer looking for? Could I swap in a higher capacity battery later down the road? I assume in a couple years there will be more energy dense cells and faster charging cells. I'm just curious thinking of getting a lighting since there are so many incentives for one plus 0% financing🤔 but I like to mod stuff and a bigger battery would be on the list once the battery tech catches up. I believe @mscartee asked my exact question lol however i still need it dumbed down for me. I Bought a Ford Lightning XLT SR, it did not come with a charger, the dealer offered to throw one in from their inventory that was from a new 2024 Mach-E.... Will this work on my truck just fine?

I just discovered that the "Trip" in the Ford navigation only lets you have 6 stops also. My trip is 8 stops. If you know your charge addresses, put the route into the truck in reverse order. This is what I used - Started with ABRP on the web, exported the stops to xls, then imported to Google "My Maps" and made a route with the stops. Android Auto has the entire trip and stops. Now I have a route I can save to the desktop (on the phone). One tap and the route is active. My problem with ABRP is that I made the trip in ABRP saved it, then tried to use it in the truck through Android auto. The phone app came up with a different path than what I just made on the web version. The real question is does the truck warm the battery for charging like the Tesla does when it knows it is approaching a DCFC? I had the CCS adapter for my Tesla and it did not know to start warming the battery for a CCS DCFC.

Great video! I look forward to seeing the rebuild. Suggestion - When showing the temperature of something (charging plug or similar) also show or say the ambient temperature. A plug at 120F when it is 90F outside is fine, but is way overheating if its only 40F outside... Anyway, cool that you are helping rebuild this truck.

So This is great to know if you want to charge another vehicle off your vehicle. Here is my question, I bought my truck from dealership (they had the mobile charing cable missing) I asked for it and they brought me one that th epart number didn't match the empty bag that was in my truck. I asked if it was the right one they said yes. I am pretty certian mine doesn't have the yellow tape on the adapter; however, I don't care about charging another car from the bed of my truck, i only care about charging my truck itself, which can handle a full forty amps in the charge port of the truck. So if that is all i want to use it for I am better off IF I have the mach e charger right?

been with tesla since my 2012 model s in 2016 . The real joy was my 2016 in in 17. The nav just worked even back then. When you showed us the automatic and it was routing you to level 2 chargers i was WTF! Like you i now have a 23 lighting Lariat big battery and am loving it but the nav is such a POS. I bought it from a dealer 400 miles away and had to do my own nav all the way home as it was trying to get me to very slow chargers along the way. Thanks God i had the lectron adapter so i was able to use 2 tesla stops in route for quick top offs. Ford really needs to get its stuff together with the nav! its horrific. Now to be honest this thanksgiving we will take our f150 from OK to AL and i will be using tesla all the way there and back. Its amazing how spoiled i am having been with a tesla for the past 8 years. Just works. The only reason i got the f150 was because it can use the NACS network. Had it not i was going with a Rivian. Your video here was awesome and thank you! But it should figure this crap out by itself. Again my tesla has been doing it since 2016 ( probably earlier!) EA is just such a crap shoot if its going to work or not. Chargepoint normally works but they are so slow! Anyway... thanks for this. I tend to just input one at a time but i hope ford sees this video and in utter shame they fix it to where its smarter .

Cool , class video thanks for sharing , repairability is very important , in order to sell new trucks , there has to be folks who will buy the used trucks , who wont worry if repairs need to be done , Ford ,have this down solid . If only i lived in America , id buy a used F 150 Lightning in a heart beat , for Ireland the Toyota Land cruiser is the king , excellent build quality and size that fits the roads , its about 4 feet shorter than the f 150 and still does the job ,hard to beat the Japanese for build quality , if only they did a electric truck , late to the party. Interesting to see the rugged build quality in the Lightning everything looks tough.

Hello, Great video!! I am rebuilding a lightning too, however i faced an issue with headlights Its a 2023 ford f150 lightning lariat I have replaced my left side headlight Now it is not in sync with the right side/light bar, Turn left turn signal does not work too the light turns on with no issues, but no turn signal, closes after a loong period of time Do you have any possible idea to fix this issue?

Awesome video I was having flashbacks of my trip from Arkansas to Georgia from the eclipse viewing. I did use that Francis energy charger at that hotel, which is on the Ford map, but it was 2 miles down the road on the map. Of course, when I got home, my Tesla adapter was waiting for me. Sorry you had to stop in Douglasville.
