This Audi TT came into the shop with not heat. First check was to see if the engine was coming up to temperature, engine temperature would not come above 165*F. While this is plenty warm for the system create heat, it was a sign that the thermostat was stuck open to some extent. Replaced the thermostat and water next, confirmed old thermostat partially stuck open. Retest vehicle, luke warm air ...

Thanks a lot, I try your method and it's work. 👍
Great tip. Thanks. I needed to move the heater directional switch around to open. Fan is right at the very top.
How hard is it to replace by yourself?
many thanks for this 10 min fix, gives me time to source a new motor
I hope VW has abandoned this design for blend doors.
@davidwood351 yes, mosy blend doors are now plastic with rubber seals.
Would like to contact you about my 2012 range rover sport.

Hi I have 2016 Range Rover sport with 79000 miles and I have a check engine light on with code p0341 and p0342 some one told me it’s related to timing chain failure can you help me out
This worked instantly, amazing, thanks!

@ChronCrew I sent you an email yesterday didn’t hear back from you yet
Replied to both of you! Sorry your messages ended up in my spam folder.
Hey, fixed mine earlier. Moved the motor back and forth and now it's working well. Nice one. Very helpful.
Hi man Daniel here my car does the same if i spray fuel into the intake it starts, but the moment i stop spraying it dies, I did also test with noid lights on all 4 and do have continuous light on them flashing when cranking. It does look like the flashing on noid lights goes a little bit dimmer as I am cranking over, is this normal. Lastly my resistor like the one in video has only 3 pins with two measuring over 2000ohms but other two is just open line, I thinks i will replace that also and check it out from there.
SAY IF IT IS A MOFO PETROL OR DIESEL FFSZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Matt we thank you so much for taking care of Land Rover. We came all the way from North Carolina after reading the amazing reviews of the problem we had and how you take care. We just came home flying with no rattling noise. Not only he took care of the noise but took care of other coming problems. Also saved lots of money what dealers were going to charge. Matt thank you very much and hope to see you in future too.👍
So, when you do this , you don’t have to retention the phasers?
This was my exact issue. Just fixed. Thank you brother I’ll subscribe
Bam! Just saved $50 and I feel like man. Thanks.
For anyone watching this, there is a 3rd little door/flap in between those 2 main doors. Dont forget to do that one too

Matt, Great Vid...but just as great are your responses to all the questions. If I were to summarize your method for myself, is it correct that if you are just doing the tensioners and guides, you never need to worry about the cam or crank positions as long as the chains NEVER move from any of their original gear positions, correct? Was trying to figure out why so many folks were having timing errors post using this method and can only assume chain positions moved on a gear tooth somewhere (which also underscores the added complexity of replacing the chains as marking counting the links/positions on the original chains seems imperative). Fair summary? Long drive from CO; otherwise, I would book an appt to have you do this for me. Cheers!
It is imperative to mark the locations of the chains in relation to all sprockets prior to starting the job, this is the key to not worrying about chain position before beginning. I now remove both chains from the crank sprocket during replacement to make replacement easier, without proper marking this would be impossible.
Excellent video and the freeing the blower fan instruction solved my problem . . thanks
Do you need to replace the 12.9 crank shaft bolt when doing this or you can reuse it? I think I have a weak tensioner or a broken bolt on one of the guides. So I'm planning on replacing the tensioners, bolts, and guides.
I keep one in stock to measure against the used ones for any bolt stretch. If i ever find on stretched i'll replace it, hasnt happened yet. Only have done a handful of bolts at customer request.
@@ChronCrew Thanx for replying. I'm going to try this zip-tie method next week. If the chains are stretched, I may have to take it all the way to PA and drop it off with you. LOL! I'm planning on changing the bolts, guides, and tensioners. Hopefully, I don't have to mess with the coolant pipes much. 2016 RRS SCV6

Matt - Thanks for making this video - I am undertaking the Tensioner / Guide upgrade on my 2010 L322 Range Rover 5.0 S/C here in the UK - Do you replace the "fixed" guide or can these not be replaced doing only a partial strip of the chains and timing assembly ? - Thanks for any reply - cheeRS Dave

Hi there. How much was this repair? I have a jaguar xj 5.0. Thank you!
I charge $2500 for this repair, includes front main seal and oil change.
Matt, do you still do this fix? I have a 2011 RR Sport Supercharged with 79k, and it.. does NOT have an issue. Yet. Because we know it should be changed eventually. I'm thinking that having the guides AND the actuators changed before anything happens isn't a bad idea.
I do these on occasion still. I was sick and taking a break for a bit but im going to start scheduling again. Email me at mattchronister@hotmail.com please for scheduling
@@ChronCrew Glad to hear you're feeling. better. I'm in the Philadelphia area so I'll have to schedule a visit, I'll email you soon.
Great video man. I was going to use a more destructive method i found on YT but i just knew there had to be a different method. This is exactly what I'm going to do as soon as it starts to warm up a bit out here on the east coast. Great video!!
So do you still do this? Looking to get my tensioners/guides replaced 2012 RRS. No record they were ever done and I never did but starting to think its time at 112k
I had been off sick for a little while but im starting to schedule these again soon, please email me at mattchronister@hotmail.com for scheduling if your still interested
Wish I was closer to you, would for sure have you take care of the 5.0 in my RRS. Looks like I’ll need to tackle this one on my own. Ever encounter one of these that exhibited a “stretched” chain, or worn to the point where there is excess slack between cam gears that can’t be taken out with replacing the guides in this way? At all possible to replace the chains with this method? Almost looks like you could…?
I had this issue since the moment I bought by S8 D4. Went ahead and applied your strategy and the noise was reduced but ended up disconnecting it lol Its not a big deal to have this feature and now I have peace :)
Thanks for this, mine stopped just when a cold spell began, most appreciated

My 2005 New Beetle TDI had a small gold colored bolt on each side holding the cover over the blend door area.
OH YEAH this really does work, my blower motor (or fan motor as it's called in England) stopped working and followed your tutorial and my fan is now working just fine on all settings, BIG THANKS to you (Mechanics won't like you saving TT drivers money)
Took my dash apart 2001 Volkswagen beetle. Use HV tape on blend doors hot and cold doors move selector door moves that I still have no heat. AC works fine this summer after taped the blend doors, what’s the problem? Thanks for any help I will bring veteran, God bless America!!
Sounds like a problem with the heater core. Check that the hoses coming into the firewall to the heater core are both getting hot.
Hi, have followed the steps but it seems the vent on my TT has closed? So I can’t even get to the blower fan
i have a bug with this exact issue. my dumb girl question is why on earth did they put holes in the blend doors in the first place?
Wish i knew that answer. Its hard to say
My guess is they engineered the doors to be a bit permeable to make them easier to move from a full-closed position with the blower full on. It worked fine for years until the foam dried out and flaked off.
Cool video! safe tons of time
