How get it up

Hi buddy I’ve just started fly fishing my local water is truly small uk brook at it widest no more than 3 meters but it runs very deep to deep to wade I’ve just pick up cheap 6’ #2 weight rod I’ve very limited room to fish and the water and cast in these conditions what size leader should I be using the one that came with the rod set was 9” but seems much to long when I’m so limited any advice would be much appreciated thanks Dave uk 🇬🇧

These guys are funny, I have a boat launch at the end of my road, These idiots that have these boats and trailers block the turn around every year many a times so all people can't get through, first off there's no reason for these boats on the river, it's a half of foot deep sometimes 3 feet, but anywho when we see these infadels park there trailers like this and we just Jack them into the woods upside down,, then you should see them trying to get their boat's back up that huge hill, I bet them dumb ass's got some hernias, to funny !!!!

I would rec tying off to the truck though- If things get out of hand the boat can gain momentum, and rip the trailer off the hitch.

There is a launch on the Umpqua I've used just like this- not quite 150' though. Is this Nestucca?

that's a great way of getting it down. Only thing I'm thinking is how do you get it up? Would be doable with a couple pullies

Real men just get in the boat and ride it down bow first.

I do a lot of this in my central Sierra small streams. Light, short rods, one small fly box, some 4X and 5x tippet, nippers and a hemostat and you’re good to go. I see guys with 9’5wt rods launching a 7” trout on the hook set. I say let the fish show off, and a short rod and light line will spook fewer fish. And don’t be fooled, I have landed 20” fish on those rods. Good times.

Last Chance Idaho buffalo river below the dam if you havent tried it. This place looks awesome.

I’ve done this before but we didn’t use a rope we hopped in and road it out. It worked all except the initial gush of water when we hit.

I just blow up river in my jet boat weaving in and around those pesky motorless drift boats. Catch my limit and blow back through leaving carnage in my wake. Just kidding. That is a beautiful pristine river and I assume they don't allow motors of any kind in it.

10:20 I don't understand how he loosens the rope on the boat below from above. Nor why he does it. 1. The boat could have drifted away - with this current! 2. He could have lowered himself safely using the rope attached to the hanger. 3. Untie the rope at the bottom and attach it to a tree for the duration of the fishing trip. After returning, tie back to the boat and walk up the rope. Then pull the boat up. Who can explain it?

I don't even flyfish but subscribed after watching this. Absolutely beautiful style of fishing. Crazy thing is I came across this channel in a video where you launched a boat from the side of the highway.

Instead of string, get a couple of silicone O rings to hold your reel on. Much easier to rig and unrig, and they work great.
