There is joint bathroom and toilet in one-room apartments in Russia. Also, many people join them while renovating their flats.

In Cleveland Ohio the cost might be about double or a little less with an average salary of maybe $30,000 to $40,000 U.S. In Los Angeles California the rental cost might be about $2,000 give or take, depending greatly on the neighborhood, with an average salary maybe $5,000 to $10,000 higher than Cleveland. But leaving these very rough numbers aside, it seems that decent housing for the average Russian is more attainable than in Cleveland or Los Angeles. The social leveling effect of rich and poor in the same building is interesting and pretty unknown in the U.S.

Hmm weird, i live in London from 5 years now, in a flat building in Kingston upon Thames, (brick, circa 1970s) , and our toilet is separate from the bathroom. Also I’ve been to my relatives places which is in Sunbury on thames, and their flat is new building, but still with separated toilet and shower. So I thought is this way all over England (accept for some newer houses and flats.

I'd just like to clarify something; the country's real estate market has evolved and now has 4 classes of real estate: budget, usually panel houses, including modern ones built by the likes of Pik. Comfort-class, brick houses built on reinforced concrete frames, better sound insulation, underground parking etc. Business class, same as the prior but with a concierge, taller ceilings etc. And then you've got the elite segment, but that's reserved for fancy buildings in city centers.

95m2 is a big apartment by east-European standards. Normally you'd expect at least 4 people living in it. This is the reason for the separate toilet - with this many occupants there are chances you'll need to go "sit on the throne" for some time while someone else needs to take a shower. Having them separated allows both people to do their thing simultaneously. I own a 4-room 72m2 and I used to own a 3-room 64m2 apartment in Krakow, Poland. Both built in the 1980's, both have separate toilets just like yours. As for the prices, my 72m2 is similar standard to yours, which I currently rent out for 3500 PLN/month, and that's a bit on the cheap side (I'm nice to my tenants, in return I get gratitude and little rotation, but if I really wanted to I could raise it to 4000 PLN/month easily, maybe even 4500). That's just what they pay me, on top of that they pay 1000 PLN/month to building administration, and the utilities (water, gas, electricity, central heating) runs them further 300 PLN or so (4 students). The location is considered almost-downtown though - about 20 min walk to main market square (absolute city center) or 5 min bus ride, over 10 bus lines 200m away from the building. Divide all above figures by 4 to convert to USD.
