Troy Bilt Bump Head Reload, Disassembly, and Reassembly
In this video I'll demonstrate how to properly reload and disassemble the bump head for a Troy Bilt weed trimmer.
We start by loading the head. First, we need to line up the arrows on the bottom of the head. Then, stick one end of your string in one of the 2 holes and feed the line though until it comes out of the other side. Once the line is through, we need to even out the trimmer line so that we have the same amount of length on either side. Finally we need to start rotating the Bottom of the head clock wise until all the trimmer line has been twisted up into the head.
Incase that, for some reason, the trimmer line breaks off inside of the trimmer head, take a flat head screw driver and pry the two tabs loose on either side of the head so that it comes apart. Then remove the cover. Next, you'll need to remove all the trimmer line and replace the cover. You'll want to make sure that you haven't lost either of the metal circles. Lastly, all you need to do is line up the arrows again and feed your line through.

Troy Bilt 30cc 4-Cycle Gas Trimmer ~ Impropper Fuel

Troy Bilt 30cc 4-cycle gas trimmer performance with improper low Octane Fuel containing 10% Ethanol Sta-bil Ethanol Fuel Treatment. Listen to the RPM of the trimmer. Then I hold the throttle down and play with it until it revs up again. Some times th...

This was perfectly executed. I am pretty handy, but I stared at the bump head on my trimmer, which is identical to yours except for color, and couldn't figure out how to reload it. Thanks to you, my son is out in the yard, earning his keep. Thank you!

Thanks. I need to reload my 685 for the first time since my kids bought it last year. This helped a bunch. You don't have to move the arrows after it is loaded? I left the arrows aligned the other day and it sucked the line inside.

All, there are two different heads on this trimmer. One of them shows the arrows in a line like the one Tony shows. The other has the arrows pointing in. On that model you have to cut two pieces of line just under ten feet each, feed the line in about half an inch to an inch, then wind the knob clockwise feeding the line in.
