McDIY moving 20+foot 4x12 Header Alone, See description below.
I had to take a break from solar projects to focus on a barn that needs a lot of attention before it's too late. Here I am moving a header to make the best use of the door openings after remodel. I do almost every by myself because none of my 'people' live close enough. Also it is usually done manually with scraps and recycled materials. Although I do try to use mechanical leverage when ever possible as seen here with the ratchet straps.
First I had to support the gable end truss so I could cut away the vertical studs from the header. Then had to jack up the header and support so I could remove the studs from below. Next supported the to posts with diagonal bracing to keep it all from falling over while I moved the header. I put a couple of 1/4-20 bolts under the header to help it roll. It moved fine the first day but then I decided I wanted to move it another foot the next day. This is where I ran into the problem that kept snapping the drywall screws I used and anchor points. There was a screw that got hooked on the double top plates of the interior wall. Once I cut that off it moved pretty easily again.
I don't suggest you do anything I do in my videos. They are only for entertainment and an example of how I do things for and by myself when I don't have help or a crew. You are responsible for your own actions and safety.

I read that the Earth's magnetic field can interfere with the reading at such low amperage. To help reduce this put the meter near the wire you want to check and in the same orientation it will be in while checking. Then zero the meter right before clamping it around the conductor. When even more accuracy is needed I use an inline meter instead of clamp on. Not as convenient and only for low amperage. I usually check with the clamp on first to get a ball park so I don't blow the fuse in my meter.

How do you like the EG4 3000 w compared to the EG4 6500? Have you tested idle watts on each? Which model mini split do you have and do you know how many wH it's using each day (and roughly what part of the country are you in). • @McDIY

I like the display info better on the 3000 watt as it shows battery percentage instead of just 4 status lights as on the 6500. I have not noticed the power fluctuations on the 6500 that I have on the 3000. (EG4/Signature Solar says there is a software update that should fix this) I have not tested the idle consumption as there are several videos by others that have already done so. I was waiting for a new battery to arrive so I can re connect the 3000 watt inverters. I will first test the new battery before updating the software. I try not to have multiple variables while testing so as not to skew the results. I am not using mini splits, I am using window units. I have tried a handful with the 3000s. One is an older 120v, another is an older 220v, both are normal compressors. Two others are new, purchased after seeing the power fluctuations in the inverter hoping to solve the issue. The new ones are inverter compressors with soft start but that did not remedy the issue. The last AC is a 120v portable unit. Two of the 3000 watt inverters would run any three of the ACs at the same time, never tried running more. I was using four EG4 server rack batteries at that time.

@@McDIY usually when I'm contacting the supplier on a problem I've pretty much gone through every other scenario problem it could be to write off it's something I am doing. And then to have them want me to go through all that again after I told him I was 100% sure the product was defective. Frustrating. What signature solar did one of the two situations I had issues. The 30 amp battery charger. Putting out 18 amps. I was one of the first ones with the issue. Send it back and they wouldn't do a thing because I put an Anderson plug on the output. Then later on come to find out every freaking one of them sold was only 18 amps. Huge complaints huge blow up on a DIY forum. I did talk to the owner of the company he was great. But when their employees are accusing me of wrecking a product and blaming it all on me don't make me too happy. The other situation was my 12K inverter. Kept rebooting. Contact the signature solar no response. Somebody on a DIY form from Growatt sent me the firmware file and told me how to install it. No help at all no response from signature solar at that time. @@cowboymcq6711 I think you will be just as happy with it as your current inverter. It's basically just bigger. I have found emailing tech support to be most convenient for me.

Their prices are good. And I'm thankful they're there so I can actually buy this type of stuff. I wish the customer service was better. But I think some of it is they sell the stuff to people that have no idea what they're doing. Have to deal with those people. That can take a lot of time to customer service.

@@bigblockcutlass123 I am looking to switch to the EG4 6000ex as well. I like the low frequency inverters even though they do require a lot of stand by power.

@@McDIYI bought growatt 5k. It died after 6 months. I just upgraded to the eg4 6500 inverter the Fans are super loud. It consume a lot more power than the Growatt 5k when use
